  1. Some more prizes for just donating different amounts :) Prizeo Scroll down and to the left to see the list.
  2. Thought I would give an update. We went to the vet to check for a blockage. Nothing there, vet thinks the hair is triggering the vomiting as well as he is possibly becoming intolerant to something in his food. So he's been on a limited diet of sweet potato and turkey mince (he gets the runs from chicken) for a few days as they would normally fast dogs, but Nova also hungry vomits bile! But since I've limited his food to tiny meals 3 times a day, no vomits, increasing the mixture today and will start adding his normal food back into it on Sunday if no more vomits. For others with hairball issues we were recommended to use flavourless Psyllium husk or Metamucil, 2 teaspoons a day (one in morning meal, one evening). As he was vomiting as well the vet didn't want him on paraffin incase he got diarrhoea. Apparently this also helps get the hair passing though. Guess we'll know if it's working properly if we don't get any hairballs this week. Although it has increased the size of his poops they are nice and firm logged shaped, and you can see the hair in them.
  3. From the sounds of it that sanctuary also rescues wolf-dog crosses so perhaps that one is a wolf dog?
  4. GRRM raising money for Wolves and wolf-dogs A gory death at the hands of Game of Thrones mastermind George R.R. Martin can be yours for the one-time price of $20,000. The death will, of course, be of the text-only variety. The honor is reserved for a top-tier donator on Martin's Prizeo crowdfunding campaign, raising money to support the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and Food Depot in Martin's adopted hometown of Santa Fé, New Mexico. The winner will choose their character's position in the fictional world (lordling, maester, peasant, whore, etc.) and meet a grisly death that could rival the Red Wedding. IMAGE: PRIZEO FOR MASHABLE If you don't have $20,000 on hand, don't worry. Everyone who donates any amount is automatically entered to win a tour of the wolf sanctuary and take a helicopter ride with the author/murderer-of-all-hopes-and-dreams himself. Other donation tiers include signed maps of Westeros, show scripts and Martin's own hat. Martin and his wife, Parris McBride, have donated money and helped raise funds for the wolf sanctuary for several years. The sanctuary now houses more than 60 wolves and wolf-dogs, including a pack of nine named after the warring continent of Westeros featured in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. <a class="social-share microcontent-share-badge network-badge network-badge-facebook facebook" href="http://mashable.com/2014/06/05/george-r-r-martin-crowd-funding/?utm_cid=mash-com-fb-main-link#" style="color: rgb(59, 87, 157); text-decoration: none; margin: 0px 0px 2px; width: 30px; height: 30px; line-height: 1; font-size: 3rem; position: relative; display: inline-block; white-space: nowrap; text-indent: -9900px; transition: color 0.3s ease; -webkit-transition: color 0.3s ease; padding: 0px !important;"> George R.R. US wolf populations hit critical lows during the twentieth century, and finding a way for humans to co-exist with this majestic creatures is an important part of the conservation movement." All men must donate.
  5. Yip. I don't want existing dogs killed, but I'm not keen on this breed being introduced to Australia. If it is the one I'm thinking of , then human aggression is in the breed standard. Presa standard says "suspicious of strangers". Crossbred with God knows what and in the hands of morons, you are likely to have a lot of dog. The Fila Standard specifies "aloof with strangers". Both standards penalise aggression but I think its the Fila that judges are never to touch. Both should be "bold". A very big dog with no social skills and no boundaries that's "bold" ... no thanks. I think Megan is possibly thinking of the Fila Brasileiro? Breeders breed for "Ojeriza", some take it too far.
  6. I think an Aussie would work, but I'd suggest researching lines carefully and even then ask the breeder to pick you one of the calmer puppies. Some can be very energetic and highly driven, perhaps a bit boisterous for young children. Good luck with your search, you sound like you would be great dog owners! I agree with Cassie and think a Bernese could be lovely Goldies and labs would be on top of my list too.
  7. Yep, my old housemates would of, you're an evil vegan
  8. If you wanna see some crazy search "Anonymous Vegan" on Facebook.
  9. Not all, but some are. Like the ones that support PETA. They would rather see animals dead (for no reason) than be raised even in the most ethical conditions for human use.
  10. I'm so sorry Airedaler, may she rest in peace
  11. That's beautiful Yonjoro! May I ask where you got Ronins collar from too? It looks really good for long coats!
  12. I'm not sure if I would go oats. Oats can be quite the allergen. In saying that my boy was very bad, only Kangaroo and potato for him
  13. Ahhh, tempt me not :D I think the spitz temperament is often made out to be worse than it really is. This is probably a good thing to try and dissuade naive potential owners who are not prepared to put the work in that they require. They are very very smart and can certainly be stubborn and need lots of training LOL. But a lot of this really goes for any dog that you want to be a good canine citizen, it just needs a bit more work than average but I would guess that not much more than an Aussie???? A good sibe breeder + good owner + training = great dog :) Having said all that, he can be a cheeky bugger when he wants to! I put lots of work into Nova (I personally think all working dogs should have "work"), but I think the spitz stubbornness is what wouldn't suit me. I like a dog that wants to work for me. Maybe I've just met all the wrong ones but all the spitz I know just give everyone that "f*** off" look In saying that Nova gives that look to anyone but me when they tell him to do something!
  14. Apparently before the plane took off they were stranded on the tarmac for a few extra hours anyway. Probably the reason the dog couldn't hold on the whole time.
  15. He's acting perfectly normal. Stomach feels fine, not dehydrated, mucous membranes fine. But I just get so worried when it comes to stomachs
  16. Nova just chucked up a huge vomit, no warning. No hair this time. Might be something else going on. Vet in the morning I think.
  17. Yes they can. I had my entire male asleep next to me on the bean bag, he started to twitch a bit then it became rhythmic. Pulled back the blanket and he had ejaculated and was still asleep. My bitch was in season but was at my kennels not at the house. Eww, that would be a nasty surprise.
  18. Wow. I accidentally stumbled on forum about this crap a few days ago. There are some nutters out there.
  19. Happy Birthday Tyrion! Love his ears, he has grown into such a handsome fellow! Flynn, Luna and Lacy are all looking devine too! Sujo I haven't seen a Groenendael with white before, but I haven't seen many at all. Is that a common marking?
  20. I would look at getting the sheath opened a bit. I've seen a dog that had the blood circulation cut off by the time the owners came home and found him :/ Not very nice.
  21. I'll be asking my vet as well Perse :) I've already had one dog with serious stomach issues, so I'll definitely be double checking.
  22. Thanks TSD. I'll try a 1/4tsp this week and see how he goes. Go up by 1/4s I think.
  23. He's acting fine after he threw up this bit, so I guess I'll give it to him in about a week and hopefully see the hair pass through the other end.
  24. 1/4 teaspoon for a cat, so perhaps a full teaspoon for a 24kg Aussie? He has a pretty sensitive stomach as it is, I don't want to accidentally give him the runs too.
