  1. My apologies! I would be interested in anywhere near NSW or Canberra (am willing to drive!) If you are near Canberra I think your best option would be Jindabyne and make a weekend trip for it. It's School holidays now though, so most places would be booked out. I'd go when they finish
  2. I only feed partly raw too, but Turkey Necks and Turkey Wing pieces are great! Our local Woolies has them on special very often.
  3. I agree with this. We had some lipomas removed from my old lab, but it was only because he had one growing near a joint (which can impede movement) and while he was out they removed a few smaller ones too. He also had some more removed when he had a cyst grow on his eyelid that needed removing. If he didn't have the two in places that could cause issues the vet would of left them If the vet hasn't already it's worth getting a tissue sample from them too just to rule out any nasties.
  4. No I don't find they rub, they are soft and the edges are rounded. Not as soft as our leather products but the closest I've found for a man made material. I find the Syntek doesn't rub, but, the texture of them is a bit weird and it does make Novas hair kind of stick to it, almost like an actual eraser rubber. Nova is naked at home though so that doesn't bother us. If he isn't doing anything grubby or going somewhere particularly nice (It's also his current "dress collar" ) he has a really soft rogz one and also a martingale.
  5. Yea a red would be nice, especially if you don't want fluro orange On the plus side, if you are like me and order WAY too big, it's quite easy to get a hole punched in them and trim and burn the edge back (I could of sent it back but I was going away and needed it)
  6. Here it is with the tag I bought for it :) Oh bugger just saw your reply
  7. I bought Nova a Syn Tek Collar from K9Pro specifically for swimming in muddy and sandy river water! It looks very smart in Black with the brass fittings.
  8. My price estimate included emergency vet visits, lots of different foods because food sensitivities, and when he got his adult coat grooming supplies. I originally bought cheap ones but his hair was so thick brushes would be completely wrecked after 3 weeks. Without that it would be a lot less.
  9. No problem :) Talk to a few vets around town and find one you think you can trust and see what they say regarding it all. I've gone from Orange which vets tell you you don't need it, as it drops below 14 in summer most nights, to Wagga where it's hot and apparently full of heartworm, so I've had to go searching for the right preventives for my dog too
  10. Heres a link to a PDF of the Heartworm Society's 2014 guidelines if you would wanted to have a look Heartworm Society Canine Guidelines
  11. For a mosquito to pass on heart worm to a dog the conditions have to be just right. Mosquitos are more prevalent on the coast, but there are plenty around your area come the warmer months. The temperature must stay above 14 degrees for the duration of the third stage of larvae, which if I remember correctly is around about 30 days. In your area these conditions are very much possible. This last summer was a scorcher. I don't live too far away, and we had weeks of over 40 where it didn't drop much below 30 at night. Cowra and Young, are often in the same temperature range in summer, sometimes hotter. If you want some more information there is an American organisation "Heartworm Society" which seems to keep it's information fairly up to date, based on scientific vet guidelines, easily found on google
  12. Completely pointless (really where am I going to put this?) and not even cool. But I got bought it anyway
  13. Young and Cowra you would definitely need it. In summer it stays over the right temperatures for long enough. Cowra and Young are MUCH hotter in Summer than Canberra. You will need to get the dogs heart worm tested before you start heart worm preventative. Talk to your vet about your dogs medical issues, they will be able to take it into consideration and take all precautions necessary. Sedation may even not be needed.
  14. Thinking of you and Myrtie. Such a gorgeous little girl, strength to both of you.
  15. First year I probably spent $4000 easily. Not including puppy I haven't desexed either.
  16. That is awesome! Clever! My dog would hate not being able to stare at people through the window though
  17. Hankodie I love Odies little jumper! Heres something I kinda want, dog related but not for the dog. Dog breed wall paper! I need to own a house first then I'll put it in an office
  18. If you want the Westeros one for Tyrion you have to order quick, apparently the company is no longer making the right studs for them! *Enabling*
  19. There's so many cool things for dogs. I want all of them. Share your finds and wants One of my big wants is a Karma Collar One of my finds: a friend just got back from a trip to Canberra and bought Nova an Aussie Shepherd dog tag from one of the Petstock stores. She said they have lots of uncommon breeds too.
  20. Oooh thanks for the educating Midniara! And slightly off topic but Bilbo that puppy you posted is STUNNING! I didn't realise black masks could look so amazing!
  21. Just regarding this bit. I've heard Belgians can carry recessive black. So if a Terv x Terv mating resulted in a black pup would it still be a Tervuren just miss marked or could it be registered as a Groenendael?
  22. Oh thats so cute! He has such nice manners too
  23. Oh one thing that really helped was putting his collar on before meals. "No food without your collar on". Now he doesn't run away when he sees it come out! If the leash is your issue perhaps you can make a "no food without being on leash" rule?
  24. Not sure about show training, but leash training in general, have you tried them with just a collar and no lead so they get used to something around their neck first? When they are used to that I attach a really light leash and let them drag it around supervised for a while. Then pick up the leash with lots of treats, if they are really unhappy I wouldn't even leave the lounge room let alone try a walk straight away. Little baby steps. My boy hated his collar and I had to do the same. He still doesn't like them, he will scratch at it constantly if I have it on him just at home, but going for a walks, training he's great. Very cute puppies
