Paraffin oil would be my best bet. Metamucil/psyllium husks may help, but as it's a bulking laxative, it causes you to poop more, which in case of being too backed up may not help at all.

Not sure about show wise but, short coat, larger medium, easy to train. IF you can give them the exercise and mental stimulation my first thought is a short coated working breed like a Kelpie or Australian Cattle Dog.

Thanks to this thread, I put a tennis ball in Novas Kong wobbler. It actually takes more than 1minute now! If anyone has any links to the most difficult food dispensing puzzle known to dog that would be great He figured out the kong wobbler at 12 weeks, and a "Hard" Nina Ottosson in about 5 minutes first go at 6months.

As long as you are prepared to wait for the right dog for you I do not think there is anything wrong with wanting a dog of a particular colour. If I was to have another Aussie I would like a blue mere. If there wasn't a suitable blue merle in a litter I would wait. Agreed, Novas breeder asked if I had any preferences for sex, colour and tail. The puppies were still picked from temperament, but preference was taken in too. I just got extremely lucky that most of the litter were blue boys

On the day this photo was taken Nova did in fact catch up and run faster than a greyhound, for about 30 seconds until the greyhound switched to high gear. Even in the photo you can see which dog is running full pelt and which is just going for a fun jog!

It's taken about 3 months to get Nova to sit like this unassisted! I started by getting him to put his paws on my arm and slowly progressed to one paw just touching my leg while his muscles built up. Now we have this and he can stay for a while :D very proud of my boy!

I was thinking this earlier, but I admit I haven't met many pugs in real life. The one pug I know with larger nares is my friends and it has had an operation to widen them. Does anyone know of any examples of naturally open nares in brachy breeds?

Haredown Whippets - Yep I have a P4P in this house too.. although it's a favourite it's got a fair few holes in it and I still need to cover her in a blanket cause she feels the cold so much, even with her coat on Lisa - I have a Vizsla... I think I may know who your friend is that has a Pod or two... are there multiple V's in that household.. and a brown dog So I can def recommend Pods 4 Pets but just wondering about these Snuggle Pods as they act like a cave and my V LOVES to get under blankets/doona's etc to sleep Must be a good bed for Vizslas (Vizslak?)! This one is a single dog household

This involves a more exacting specification of placement.. . .and placement can greatly affect the way the hips appear on Xrays. I've been quoted for Penn hip and a normal Elbow and including everything (anaesthesia, sending costs and readings/measurements), It was just over $400.

Not just genetic lottery either, you get unforeseeable accidents if you are unlucky, like the grass seed I saw go in on our walk and straight down the ear drum! There was our first vet anaesthetic, then we had a dog run out of it's yard and attack on another walk. Even if you have insurance a lot of vets want the payment straight up, so you need it.
