A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
LisaCC replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Happy Birthday Laci!!! Aww all the puppies are growing up -
Just pointing out that a dogs pregnancy doesn't take 6 months, only 2 :) If the breeder you like in WA is planning a mating near the end if the year, if successful you could have your puppy before Easter.

The theory I see the most is that they originally came from Spain and came over to the US with shepherds via Australia :) And bought with them Australian Sheep I've heard Silly Americans. Maybe they should be called Spanish Shepherds?

Slicker Brush For Double Coated Moulting Dogs

I have that one :) Gets out so much now that he's shedding! -
I don't know about other vet schools, but mine involves 18months of rotations before graduation. 2 weeks at a clinic at a time, they are constantly on the move and are made to go to ALL industries, so not just small animal clinics, but with travelling dairy vets, aquaculture vets, wildlife etc. That doesn't include the surgeries and consults you sit in, in the teaching clinic from 3rd year up. In saying that my uni apparently has the best employability rate for graduating vets, so perhaps how practical it is is why. I would be worried if other vet schools don't do this.

Some Dog/pet Shots With My New Toy Fujifilm X-t1 - Feat. Striker!

Your photos are just gorgeous! -
I only have one, and have only ever had one dog at a time. I think I would like to have 2, but I would put perhaps a 5 year gap between them.

How naive of me, it has never occurred to me that people would breed Malinois purely for looks. Oops.

The feet looked f'd up to me, flat and splayed. But I don't know what BB are supposed to look like.

Which Breeds Do You Wish Were In Australia?
LisaCC replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh yes they are stunning! Has anyone imported them? -
Entire 16month old male here. He's currently going through the above "cocking rage", and wants to pee on everything during walks. But never had a problem in the house. He amazed me with toilet training actually. After 2 days being home at 8 weeks he was taking himself to the door to go out to toilet, and the few accidents he ever had was my fault. I do have a friend with an early desexed male who is fine at his own house, but cocks his leg at other peoples houses on furniture. But they don't really do anything to teach him not too

My boy did it from 10weeks up, stopped around 9 months, when most would think it would start

I've PM'd you Sheena :)

those boots look way too hot to wear all day There are videos on youtube of military dogs wearing similar ones in deserts in the Middle East. I'm guessing the material is nice and breathable
-
Thanks HW, I'll keep that in mind. I guess basic conformation wise I'll get peoples opinions when I start showing next month, but medically I'm going to get him Pennhip and Elbow scored before we start getting seriously into agility trialling so I'll make sure he gets a full look over during that too. I do wonder though if it is because he's an NBT? Having a lab as my last dog he certainly used that big thick tail very efficiently in the water.

I had two of these for sale a while back on the Marketplace. I still have them as I didn't get around to relisting them. I bought them from Clean Run for my two border collies for boating but never used them, other than trying them on. I still have them if you are interested...I think I was asking $70 each including postage. They are sized 20 to 40 Kg Oooh thank you! I was looking for that but it must of been deleted. How do they fit your BCs? Do you have any photos?
-
I think I'll definitely try the EZYdog on in store if I can. If Novas 'tackle' is a bit far forward then it might not be the best fit.
-
Oh I didn't realise that! Thanks Ness :)

Nice pun

Thanks everyone :) Dotdashdot, I'll see if I can get it ordered in. It seems like they all do a good job and it's more of a style preference. The Ruffwears look the best to me, but I was worried because they look like they don't cover much of the back. But it sounds like they still support a sinking bum anyway! But I also like that the Hurtta has an adjustable neck! Kelpiecuddles, I'm overall not too impressed with the one he has, I'd like it to have more support underneath, but I didn't want to shell out on a good one when he was still growing.
-
Oh Louis, Crestie tails sure do look interesting wet! Thanks Lasareina :) I think he looks disappointed because I put it on him and then did not drive to the river! He was excited when I bought it out
-
Ok I just chucked his jacket on him, much to his dismay. It's the furthest forward it can go, but that back strap is still on his penis. It's quite loose but when it comes to lifting him in the water etc it obviously tightens and becomes uncomfortable.
-
Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone :) Unfortunately none of the pet shops near me stock any life jackets, so trying before buying isn't an option. Lasareina I'll try and find a picture of Nova in his lifejacket to try and compare the straps. I know some males can be a little more forward than others, so perhaps that's Novas issue.
-
It's starting to get warm again and now that Nova is fully grown I'm prepared to spend money on a good quality Life Jacket for him. He loves swimming but unfortunately is really bad at it! His butt just sinks and he can't keep himself up (lack of tail perhaps?). We used a cheap life jacket from BCF last summer but found the back strap was in a very uncomfortable spot right on his penis Does anyone have any experience with Life Jackets and male dogs? The Ezydog one looks like it's straps are in the same spot as the one we have so I'm tossing up between the Ruffwear Float Coat and if I can get it in Australia the Hurtta Life Jacket. Oh and for those with Ruffwear, does it support the back end well?

Wow they do look like a bc cross aussie! Gorgeous I wonder which breed the temp is closer too. I've seen a few online fights with American's telling people "If you want an Aussie with a tail buy an English Shepherd".
