As Yonjuro said, there is some current scientific debate on this. They may in fact be strict carnivores. More research needs to be done. Saying some of the oldest living dogs were fed a vegetarian diet is the same as people saying their grandparents lived to 100 and smoked every day of their life. Doesn't mean a lot. Most people who feed vegetarian diets to their animals are vegetarian or vegan themselves and are putting their own beliefs on their animals.

I like it a lot apart from the whole cut me to bits thing as I know the leash will never slip through my hands if Didi's ever silly. My mum has pretty tough skin and she held the leash for 2 minutes on one of our walks and got a cut too We have some nylon leads but none of them have brass buckles and I don't want to risk a breakage if Didi freaks out over something so I'm stuck with the machete leash for a bit longer. I'm in the market for a nice thick leather martingale so may as well chuck a leash in there while I'm at it! I would try the Julius K9 leashes I linked on the last page if you like the gripper ones. They have more of the rubber rows, but are rounded on the edges and really quite soft.

Oh I also have a Julius-K9 adjustable leash which extends to 2.2m, they are similar to gripper leads and also make long lines. You can buy them in Australia at Dogify

Soft and strong, can't go past leather. I would love a Ruthless one when I can afford it, but at the moment I have a lovely soft yet very strong leather leash made by a local leather maker. It's not anything fancy like Ruthless, but the hardware is solid brass and the leather is soft right from when you get it, only cost about $30 or so from memory. He made it to my specifications and I recently got him to make me a show leash too ($25), he had never made anything but very basic dog stuff until he met me Now he's making special leashes for our clubs christmas raffle! He's situated in the Riverina NSW, but I'm sure he might ship, find Nathan here at Skyline Belts. Otherwise just hit up your local saddlery or leather workers at fairs and markets and see if they would make you one These are the leashes he's made me

I'll go with a desert sighthound too, Saluki. Big enough to cuddle for some warmth on cold desert nights

He never looks happy wearing things It ended up getting too cold for me to go in the river too , so he just paddled. It will be hot on the weekend and we have an agility seminar so it will definitely be getting a work out then. For future reference here is a "before" photo being special in the water last week

Was just about to mention the Earthborn. I feed it here, 32% protein, 18% crude fat, 4% crude finer, 7.5% crude ash, 10% moisture, 1.3% calcium, 1% phosphorus. It's also single protein too, only fish meal.

That doesn't help when you are trying to get a young dog used to distractions.

Yes, contact the state registering body that your breeder is under, DogsNSW, DogsVic etc. I can't remember who it was but there was another member on here that was having the same issue with their pups papers and calling DogSA got it sorted out.

Baby puppies are asleep the large majority of the day. Sleep, wee, play, wee, eat, wee, sleep, wee, poop, sleep, pee, play, more pee, sleep, pee, rinse and repeat. My 18month old still has his morning nap only about an hour and a half after he wakes up in the morning

Ahh yes I think you've pointed out a main difference well! I like my dogs a bit idiotic at times and overly cuddly Take my Lab pup. He fits your criteria nicely. He got a pot plant container stuck on his head and isn't even fussed. He's just stumbling around happily, blind as a bat, smashing into things. I think I'll take it off now. My last dog was a lab and I loved doofy those parts about him, probably why I went for an Aussie for my first working breed

Stressmagnet I had/still have similar problems with people invading our space with themselves, other dogs and children. The best thing that worked for us was buying a Julius K9 harness and attaching patches that say "In Training". The Harness looks quite professional and they are used as police dog harness in Europe, combined with the patch people seem to actually stop and think now. There are a few different brands of harnesses that look like this. My last dog had something similar without the patches, but it was enough as he was a yellow lab and I had people tell their children not to rush over because "see his harness that is a working dog". That wasn't my intention at all with my lab, but that experience made me buy this one for my current boy as being a "pretty" dog we get a whole heap of unwanted constant attention in public.

SG I'm the exact same as you, I would never own a Border Collie, but love love my Aussie. He also gets called a Koolie or x and I would also never own one of them either I think it's the temperament, I see Aussies as the clown of the working breeds. I like Goldens and Labradors but Flat Coats don't appeal to me. I like Standard Poodles but not the smaller two.

Come and say hello No I'm not unfortunately, I have uni exams so thought I should give Albury a miss. Then I have an agility seminar instead of Holbrook. We are attempting to do everything I don't think there will be anymore shows for us until next year. But I guess I can actually contribute to this thread now. Nova is a Junior dog and not a puppy but we've just had our first three show weekends and in our first weekend we got two Best of Breeds We went from shocking in the ring to Nova not breaking his gait once at The Rock! I was very proud of him for that!
