  1. Well some people like to leave things to the last minute lol Others like me are crazy and buy training books and puppy collars before the damn dog is even born
  2. Thats so soon!!! Do you have everything ready?
  3. That sounds like an amazing childhood! Sorry about solomon, I'm sure he was a remarkable animal. I do hope Cleo doesn't have the ferociousness of a Leopard seal to go with her name
  4. This was on one of those morning shows today. I think It was Sunrise, I was just flicking through. If they bring it in I hope they don't have it set that it has to be done by 6mths old.
  5. I'm under the firm belief that there is no 'Best' food. If you've read some of my previous posts you would of heard about my Lab. Major stomach problems went through every commercial food, prescription and special raw diets. Ended up doing best on Pedigree! He is now on Wellness which is fairly new to Australia and is wheat free and has other benefits I can't remember. I say to try what you can and see what he does well on. I can't say about BARF, but with the kibbles, at least while you are introducing it and making sure he can handle it, I wouldn't feed anything else on top, they are made to be complete diets. How do you know if it is the dog food or the extra things you are adding if it goes badly? Once you find a food he goes well on then slowly introduce some meaty bones etc.
  6. Dotdashdot, Yep I'm getting an Aussie, and this is technically already my 2nd plan, things went badly last year with another pup. Turquoise is my second choice if he's a blue dog, it is a stunning colour. Oh I was expecting Solomon to be a dog!!! Good luck with getting cleo her title. Misteri congratulations for your soon to be Toller baby!
  7. 8 months is a fair wait too! I just really hope that the pregnancy takes, she's a long cycler! Well we've decided on Solomon for sure if it's a boy in memory of another animal that had a big part in my life. But can't agree on a girl name. Im finding especially hard when im working in a pet store surrounded by puppy stuff that just taunts me....especially the cutesy little puppy collars that I don't need to buy 1. because they grow out of them so fast and 2. because I have 2 left from Cleo in pink AND blue. Hopefully uni distracts me! Only a month to go until that =] Oh gosh everything you said is just so familiar!! Yes I really do hope the pregnancy takes, otherwise I'll either be waiting longer (breeder already has plans for a second litter this year) or travelling a lot further. Uni starts in just over a month for distraction, although I just started a new experiment with a lecturer for the rest of summer so that should be a good distraction too. I went to see a friend who works at Petbarn yesterday... OMG I wanted everything! I've already decided that even though I'm getting a boy if he will be wearing one of their deep purple, slightly burgundy collars because they are so gorgeous, and will match any fur colour! When fully grown he can have a lovely black rolled leather collar and matching lead :) Solomon is a lovely name :)
  8. Maybe they are all dreaming they are wolves?
  9. I've only ever heard Sam howl once and it was when he was fast asleep. It's not a normal howl either, it was soft and quite eerie.
  10. I've been a resident for 4months... 4more to go :) But I've had a mini list of names sitting on my desk the whole time . When you are waiting so long its nice to have something there reminding you yes it will happen!
  11. My lab had ear infections a lot when he was under 3, We used Epi-optic and it cleared it up. His was always very dark and grotty, not clear . I would say a vet check and maybe a change of diet if it is a constant thing.
  12. Oh that sounds so frustrating, and disappointing . I hope you get your LUA pup one day, and when that happens I'll be lining up for one Good luck with your new pup though! Will this be your first breeding dog?
  13. Dotdashdot does this mean your LUA dally plans are in the making??
  14. CollieChaos he is beautiful! Love the name too, It reminded me of the cat called Orion from Men in Black , You need to put a little galaxy on his collar :) I Love Goldens, what a cutey, good luck on sunday :)
  15. Thanks Simply Grand! Sujo, no I've only ever had my lab before so a big difference. But I found out about Aussie years ago and they fit perfectly into my lifestyle and what I want out of a dog, so it's been a long time in the making until I was ready for a new dog.
  16. Well you are very lucky! To be honest I was surprised by how much this breeder wanted to know my preferences, mostly I want a boy, such sookie lalas . She said she tries to give the future owners as close to what they could want as possible, so she wanted to know my preferences for sex, colour and tail. This litter has all four colours expected too, so if it is large there could be a good mix to pick from :) Yes I like communication from breeders, I actually was recently in contact with my 11year old labs breeder!! She wanted to know if he was still kicking and how he was going :)
  17. Congratulations CollieChaos, hope to see lots of photos when you get him back! Jules it is such a horrid wait isn't it, and then waiting for everything to go right. I know our breeder is wanting a girl out of this litter and I'm wanting a boy, and she has said she is more than happy for me to have one if he is born :) She had already offered me an older pup that didn't turn out quite right for show, but the timing wasn't right (There was a lot of self control needed for that one, he was lovely!!). I'm hoping for a merle boy (can't choose between red or blue they are both beautiful so whatever comes out and I can get!), and if I get a choice between a few then I think I would prefer a bob tail, but overall I want a match for me :) Our breeder is great with updates too. Like sending me this email this morning, I even got an email when the boys had started showing interest in her . Not long to go for you! Good luck :) Oops! Forgot to mention Australian Shepherd :D
  18. So I'm one of the ones that have had my name on a puppy list before the mating has even taken place. After the girl being 3 months late I got an email today saying that the bitch has finally been mated!! Fingers crossed it was successful! Patience is a virtue :)
  19. That would be good, but with quarantine problems I can see why its not allowed.
  20. DogsNSW posted this on their facebook page. http://activitydogs.com.au A cruise for dog lovers with seminars during 4 of the days included in the price. A bit too expensive for me Now how to convince uni that they should give me a scholarship to improve my knowledge
  21. I've been to smaller expos, and there are lots of little stores promoting products, the only live animals were generally from rescue groups or the RSPCA. There was also promotion of dog sports like fly ball and dock dogs which was great to watch :) And yes you could bring your dogs. I hope this one is similar just on a bigger scale. This makes me want to go.... Hmmm I do know people in Melbourne, maybe make a weekend of it?
  22. But in reality I lose. Just typing that made me feel like I was writing something really deep and emotive . I think I should go to bed
  23. I'm 5hrs away... half way between Sydney and Melbourne. So either one is an overnight trip
  24. I would love to go, bit too far though Wish they did a big rural one.
  25. We are advised to do it with Sam now that he is older. We did not do it nor was offered it when he was young and healthy.
