  1. No from me too. I only go when they are empty for free running/training or with a specific person I know and their dog.
  2. Oh no some people want the feet trimmed on their spitz breeds, much the same way you would normally trim the foot of a Newfoundland or Golden Retriever by pulling up the coat between the toes and leveling with the top of the foot with thinning scissors, then pulling the hair back down between the toes and trimming the coat off level with the foot pad and going around the foot to take off stragglies, and blending into the pastern and hock. "outlining' is where we trim over more or less the entire coat to round off chest, belly, bum etc. Personally I think it make the dog look unbalanced and a bit speshal, and wrecks the coat texture, making those areas become nappy and fuzzy and harder to groom in the long run. And for very little actual benefit to ease grooming or shedding. Im not completely against trimming and clipping double coats when faced with owners who wont or cant manage a full coat due to laziness or financial restrictions, to ensure the comfort and sanitary benefit of the dog. I have several clients that just like the look of a 3/4 inch plush all over clip on their spitz breeds and run with that 2 or more times a year. If it means the dog is kept indoors and kept comfortable and sanitary, it is better to do it, and do it well, than get all pedantic and preachy about alternatives. Ooooh they were separate. I get you now! I do my aussies feet like that, but I have no idea how spitz are supposed to be done. I hate the look of dogs that are trimmed all over like that. When I first looking up how to do basic trimming and grooming on my boy I came across heaps of videos of people trimming aussies all over like that. They look like weird plush toys.
  3. Blinkblink, what are 'outlined' feet? I'm imagining poodle feet on a spitz
  4. I would rather buy an Australian made and owned product, but I won't buy one over an imported product that my dog does better on. Blackhawk doesn't work for my dog, even if it was never sold out I wouldn't buy it, so I buy what does work which happens to be made in America.
  5. Thats not the same one Perse, there's been another few similar incidents with a line of related Kong Beast toys. Heres the official statement from Kong http://www.kongcompa...-parent-update/
  6. You already saw the other half of this photo, but the ever handsome Mr Nova
  7. What happened to your puppy?!
  8. I would never ONLY tether a dog in a ute by even a firm fitting harness. Dogs can and will wiggle out of harnesses. I no longer have my ute, and am no longer on a property, but I kept the tie back as short as possible, and double backed it, to both a collar and harness. You need to be continually checking your tie backs as well, they weaken, especially chains. Replace them when needed. I agree that there is no need for people to be tethering dogs to utes in urban areas.
  9. I've only just seen this update too. I'm so sorry Swazzie. Run Free Bru, I hope my Sam is giving you a big lab welcome.
  10. It's telling me Nova's microchip isn't in there! It says to contact the organisation the details are stored with, but how do I know?? Does it recognise NSW ones? I did only update his address a few weeks ago though as I moved so perhaps it's just not updated?
  11. Me too, they stood out the most unique for me.
  12. Same here, don't have a particularly bloat prone breed now, but did have one and he did bloat, so I'll always be paranoid and always feed any dog I have smaller meals multiple times a day now. Plus my current boy actually works better with some food in him. If I don't feed him anything and go training he's not on point, seems to need a little bit in his stomach.
  13. Glad his owners have been located. Love the hashtag.
  14. Can you part the hair and take a picture of the skin where the two colours meet? I'm thinking along the lines of Haredown too.
  15. Lovely again! Was this his first proper race?
  16. I don't mind that, I like it, and like promoting the breed. I get pissed off when I'm trying to enjoy a coffee or a dinner and people interrupt meals or conversations with friends to pat the calm dog or ask me questions about him without even an "excuse me", or as TSD said, send children over to pat the interesting dog while they continue sitting there enjoying their coffees! So out comes the patches! Lovely video of Blaze by the way!
  17. I have a a Julius K9 harness with an "In Training" Patch. I whack that on Nova when I'm going to places where I don't want people interrupting me to pat him (I get that a lot while I'm trying to have a meal etc). It surprisingly seems to work with most people! You do get the odd person that will ignore it, but most seem to stop and think when they see it. You can get "DO NOT PET/TOUCH" If you want to be more direct I go out with a friend that has Belgians a fair bit and everyone has to ask what sort of dogs they are. It drives me batty as we will be having a conversation and people just interrupt. The WORST day was when she had a 'in training' vest on him. So many people came up to ask what he was in training for. Oh Ive gotten that one too, luckily not too often though. Perhaps she needs the more direct "DO NOT TOUCH" patches?

  19. If it's a new thing, it could be ageing, my last dog started needing to go out at night when he got on, but also have you noticed an increase in toileting during the day as well? If so perhaps a vet visit to make sure nothing else going on. I would also put back dinner an hour or two.
  20. I've always taken dogs to markets, great for socialisation. Lots of them even have stalls selling dog stuff! I've only came across one weekly market that banned dogs and they banned them from the produce section only, so you could still have them in the markets just don't take them down the areas with the fresh food. I'm guessing some peoples dogs had jumped up or something as previous weeks dogs were allowed everywhere.
  21. The butt rub! Double handed butt rub for extra special rewards!
