  1. Doubtful. I hope they did - otherwise they are not an ethical rescue. It would be dreadful to rehome a dog that could be in chronic pain. If the adopter were inexperienced they would not be aware that the bitch has a possible serious health issue as they would have passed it as "behavioural"
  2. Did the vet do a urine analysis and an x ray to eliminate possible bladder stones and a UTI?
  3. Did the dog see a vet prior to being adopted? Since when is excessive urination a behavioural issue efs
  4. Read the labelling and directions of Frontline carefully. It should NEVER be used on a dog with sensitive skin. Perhaps your groomer is giving the dog clipper burn/rash? This would make him very itchy.
  5. I hope the bitch is seen quickly by the vet. You need an uncontaminated urine sample. It could also be renal failure or a bladder full of stones. We rescued a bitch who was urinating frequently and she was at the vet within a couple of hours of rescue. To my horror, she had an accute UTI, and a bladder full of huge stones. She has had surgery to remove the stones and is now a very happy girl. :)
  6. Amazing, awesome work Ams. Poor mummy dog - how does anyone surrender a 15 yr old dog (or let her have pups for that matter). Nothing surprises me anymore Gorgeous pups and I hope mother dog finds a wonderful home too :) You are an inspiration for rescue.
  7. Picking up the ashes always makes me feel more at peace when they are "back home". I am so very sorry for your loss MsDani - you gave him the ultimate gift.
  8. If the dog was in "Adoptions" for you to view the dog would not have been pts.
  9. I have lost count of the Schnauzers we have rescued or had surrendered by people moving back overseas. Two in the last few weeks alone. I can understand why the RSPCA adheres to their policy.

    Boyan

What a beautiful boy. So sorry to hear that Boyan has gone to the bridge. Forever in your heart
  11. Narrow minded on this forum? - are you for real? Have you ever been to a puppy farm or rescued a puppy farm dog? I have. We have rescued many ex pf dogs - and am glad to say all rehomed in loving homes. I have seen first hand the cruelty, horror, the non existent vet care, open wounds, maggots, massive infections, malnutrition and the list goes on. Then there is the mental trauma and physchological damage. Puppy farm dogs often circle continuously from lack of exercise, being confined to a pen for many years with no social interaction and no exercise. I own two ex puppy farm dogs - one spent six years confined in a very small pen. Their rehabilitation has been long but the rewards have been immense. The public needs education as Dogmad states, to buy their new puppy from a good registered breeder.
  12. So glad that this has all worked out so well - you are an amazing Breed Rescue :)
  13. When I lost Oscar my friends 4 year old daughter asked where he was? I told her that he had gone to heaven, and that if she looked up into the night sky and found the biggest brightest star, that it was him. She cried but accepted this and several years later still goes onto their balcony at night to look at "Oscar" and say hello to him.

    Atlas

My very favourite DOL dog Atlas - over the years you made me smile with your funny antics and gorgeous nature. You will be sadly missed by your DOL family. My heart breaks for you Cindy. Run free at the bridge beautiful boy. RIP Atlas
  15. He's actually doing better each day as he has really rested & confined for 6 days now. With slow & caution we are getting there. The heavy duty ramp is on it's way.Vets are just too dam easy in telling you they need an op or they need to do the "draw" test. ah ah not me, He ain't touching his joint to further injure when he is doing ok for now. I am quite committed to my K9's to look after them 24/7. & be there for them. There is rubber on the ramp I have made for now. I think you should find some vets that you trust. What is the result of the ultrasound?
  16. Prayers and good thoughts for Atlas - my favourite DOL dog. Hope you are feeling better too.
  17. I am so sorry for your loss - heartdogs are with you forever. RIP Riley
  18. You could also try Satinycats or Jemappelle on DOL - both great rescuers:)
  19. Some Schnauzers hate being picked up under their belly. Place a hand around his chest and one around his butt, and carry him like a parcel. Agree with others, that he knows he is being carried to a bath. Mine run outside as soon as they hear the laundry tap going. :D
  20. As everyone has said, they do not shed but have a high maintenance coat. Require regular brushing and I clip mine every 5 weeks through summer and allow their coat to grow a little more during winter months. A very active, highly intelligent and trainable breed. They are clean house dogs, and are very much the clown with their funny antics. Only bark if they are allowed to and not trained - and they are usually a busy dog :D They adore their human family and are protective and good guard dogs.
  21. This is really interesting. I have a rescue girl that was a fear biter/serious issues. She was not rehomeable so she stayed. She followed my very stable dog and mimicked his behaviour. She is very confident in her own home and would guard it with her life. She now lives a "normal" life but is very much a one person dog. IMO fear based dogs are for the experienced rescuers. Suggestions of a foster dog seem more appropriate for this person.
  22. I remember Henry - what a beautiful boy. I am so very sorry for your loss. Rest easy at the bridge big guy.
