  1. So if their accounts were audited, it would show that funds raised for a particular dog went to that rescue?
  2. I have taken dogs they have taken credit for but not received funds. When I've pointed out the "error" they delete the comments. Now they just delete the photos of the dogs I take and any comments I make regarding their fund raising on other pei x types. Ams did you take Ebony with entropian, the Pei X? I wondered what happened to her??
  3. Has any rescue ever taken a PR dog and received the intended funds donated for that particular dog?
  4. Hi Sheridan, I did ask this on the FB page but got a reply that all will be made public when the shop is completed. The concept is good if it is done the right way, but I can't see that it is any different from going to an actual rescue organisation. IMO I can't see a lot of rescues allowing their dogs to be cared for by strangers in a retail environment. I've scrolled through the FB page and saw that your question was easily deflected, schnauzer :) Anyone can post on the FB page, so questions can be asked there instead of making negative assumptions here. I would hope that rescue groups would contact the person (Lucy Edmonson) direct to try to get down to the nitty gritty of her intentions and in the process perhaps iron out any glitches that seasoned rescuers can see. Anything that aids and assists the rescue community, needs to be encouraged and supported, as long, of course, as in the background aren't any activities that cancel out the good. Opening day is approximately 3 months from mid-December. At this early stage, I would hope that people don't start off being judgemental and assuming the worst. As I said it is a good concept if done the right way and agree that any promotion of rescue is great. As I said in an earlier post would be good if they came onto the forum and explain how it will work.

  6. So, you put in the yard hards of actually doing the rescue and rehabilitating and then they sell the dog in the pet shop. Not sure what is intended by Bark Lane or how they will do homechecks etc - hopefully they will come in and clarify.
  7. So your dog has separation anxiety So your dog is a barker So your dog is a fence jumper
  8. I would want the business closed down. They are negligent and amateurs - no professional groomer ever leaves a dog unattended.
  9. Are you for real? The owner of the salon had a duty of care and was responsible for her staff and every minute of Buddy's grooming there. Whether a staff member was responsible or not - NO dog should ever be left tethered on a table/bench on a check chain. It is UNFORGIVABLE, bad practice and should NEVER have happened. It just makes it bleedingly obvious that these are inexperienced and untrained groomers. They do not deserve to be in business IMO.
  10. OMG Tell this woman to close her shop now - her business is not fit to handle ANY dog EVER.
  11. Anyone using a groomer should always be informed of how their dog is groomed, how it will be restrained, how he/she is dried (cage drying?) and be observant of how their dog is handled upon entering the salon. It is the owners perrogative to ask questions about their safety and also to ask if they can observe their dog being groomed. There are many good groomers, but there are also badly run salons maximising turnover, and using young staff with basic training.
  12. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and also furious at a total disregard for a dogs safety. RIP Beautiful boy
  13. Fantastic news that he will be home for Xmas :) - grass seeds are such a pain.
  14. Schnauzers are normally very stoic dogs. If your dog is showing such unusual and out of character behaviours, I would take him to the vet this morning, they could keep him there until his tests come back and rehydrate him if required.
  15. How would I know? I guess at this stage, anything is possible! This is very unlike him.... With a UTI/bladder/kidney stones the dog would be constantly trying to urinate and may have leakage/be in pain. (our latest rescue girl had both )
  16. Can you take his temperature now and check the colour of his gums? Has he drunk overnight/this morning? If you are concerned about him I would take him back to the vet this morning.
  17. A full blood panel will help diagnose his problem. Does he have a temperature? Any Schnauzer that is unusually quiet and won't eat/drink is a worry. You could try a little chicken stock in his water to encourage drinking. I would not give milk at this stage in case he has pancreatitis. Keep a close eye on him today and if you are really concerned I would take him back to the vet/emergency vet as they may need to rehydrate him with fluids. Let us know what the bloods say - very best wishes for him.
  18. It was horrible. I'm still shaking. Just watched it and my heart is still thumping. Total morons who should never own a dog let alone raise a child. Horrific. efs
  19. My older schnauzer (at the bridge now) went totally blind at 10 with SARDS and his vet was Mark Bilson at SASH. I haven't heard of retinal inflammation. Luckily he was a well trained dog and had another dog to follow, so was still happy :) He went on his daily walks to the beach and the park and just trotted beside me. Having another dog to follow helped him enormously - I never took him out of his own environment, so he managed very well. I also used scent to mark where his water bowls were and down the three steps at the back of the house. I never used to leave anything laying around or move any furniture. When he was 12 I did have to carry him outside and back inside - he seemed to lose his judgement with the steps. If your parents can take her for a walk with another stable dog, she may follow? There is a great website for blind dogs. Hope it all goes well for her.
  20. Sheridan, I am so very sorry for your loss - what a wonderful life he had with you. How truly blessed he was to have you as his owner. RIP Grumpy - sleep well
  21. I wonder where they source their puppies from? From some friendly "farm" or someone who has had an "oops" litter. Now what would be impressive is if they stopped selling animals altogether.
  22. A huge thankyou for every dog that you have saved, and the tireless work and devotion you have all put in.
