I hope the OP has taken the advice on this thread and that the puppy is not still locked in the shed - the thought of it gives me nightmares........ I also pm'd the OP offering assistance but no reply. :D

Well said Poodlefan. If you want a well socialised, toilet trained dog that is obedient, and a pure joy to have around, it is up to you and your family - his life and future are in your hands. If you would like help, pm me and I will put you in touch with someone in Canberra experienced with the breed.

Hi - thank you all for your advice - our Garden shed is new (and empty) and he was the only one in it - we had his kennel, water food etc in there with him. Poor puppy - he is barking because he is frightened being on his own in a shed. Is there a reason he can't be inside with you? He can be inside with us... he just isn't properly housetrained yet and I dont really want to be cleaning up wee/poo all the time. The times we do have him inside with us (before we all go to bed) I always take him out regularly to go to the toilet but he occasionally has an accident. I'm worried that he wont ever learn to go outside to the toilet. Your pup will never be house trained unless you make the effort to train him. We all need to clean up wee/poo with pups. Does he have direct access to outside ie a doggy door? House training includes getting up during the night and taking him out to his "spot" and teaching him a simple command. I tell my dogs "outside wee". Take him out on a regular basis, after playing, when he wakes up, straight after eating etc. when he sniffs around and tell him the command. Schnauzers learn very quickly, want to please and are very clean dogs. I also use this method for rescue dogs and it works very well. Put in the work and your puppy will be able to sleep inside with the family and will not be a barker.

He is only a baby and needs to be inside with the family. Can you make an area where he can sleep inside? Perhaps teach him to sleep inside or in a crate if you don't want him in other areas of the house? You will need to toilet train him and get up during the night to take him out to where you want him to go. As Megan and Ravyk have both rightly said, minis are happiest inside with their family. I certainly would not be putting a 16 week old puppy in a shed.

Beautiful story Cazstaff. Thankyou for giving her a home. Having just lost my old dog, every day with them is a gift. -
You should definitely report to the National Registration Authority for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals - Adverse Reactions in Canberra. Tel: 62 72 5158 Eleven years ago my mini schnauzer died of complications arising from using Frontline spray. We did everything we could to save him at the specialist centre. I had used the product for a couple of years prior to his allergic reaction. You should definitely be compensated for all your vet costs.

Make sure your groomer leaves a small "trail" of hair for urine to drain off. If the groomer clips her too short around her vulva that could also be irritating her.
-
Some of the hairy breed bitches can get hair caught in their vulva and this can irritate and make them scoot. Make sure hair is not caught in there. Also if they have a skin crease/fold around the vulva, this needs to be cleaned well as any dirt there can cause irritation as well.

Mark Bilson diagnosed and looked after my blind boy, fantastic vet - highly recommend.

Has Anyone Done Puppy Preschool At Gladesville Vet (syd)?
schnauzer replied to macka's topic in Puppy Chat
I have done puppy school there too and agree with Clyde, they are the best vet practice in Sydney and I have been using them for around 15 yrs. Gail is fantastic for puppy school - would highly recommend. I travel there from the eastern subs. -
I am so glad that he is still doing well Staffyluv. Hopefully he will continue to be well for a few years to come with your wonderful care. I put my old boy to sleep in mid August and he had six good, happy years after being diagnosed, so there is always hope.

Another Damn Chocolate Eating Dog Thread, Sorry
schnauzer replied to Sam&Saki's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Schnauzers can be prone to pancreatitis and my boy is almost 11 (still naughty though ) and he only weighs 9.5kg. I discussed with two vets (my own and a local one) and they agreed to make him vomit as we were unsure of the quantity he ate. I am sure Saki w ill be fine. -

Having been through this last week, you have approx. 2 hour window to induce vomiting. Obviusly the sooner the better. I wouldn't take the risk with toxicity or pancreatitis with my breed. Straight to the vet to induce vomiting and then he was fine. -
Vet Recommendations Sydney Inner/greater West
schnauzer replied to d.lam311's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would highly recommend Gladesville Vet Hospital. I live 45 minutes away and wouldn't go anywhere else. Professor Max Zuber and all his team are fantastic vets, and treat your dogs with great compassion and care. Also open 7 days a week. -
Groomer In Melbourn For Mini Schnazuer
schnauzer replied to lina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thank Schnauzer, But I found the Schnauzer Club of Victoria's homepage is really awful. Most of the pages can't be displayed, and the information hasn't been updated since 2007. I guess I won't get any help from this organisation. http://www.vicschnauzerclub.org/index.html Have sent you a pm. -
Groomer In Melbourn For Mini Schnazuer
schnauzer replied to lina's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Lina, Your puppy looks gorgeous. You need to come into the schnauzer breed thread. Contact the Schnauzer Club of Victoria and they will recommend a good groomer for you. -
Sounds like great news Kelly_Louise. Not great, but should be at least manageable. Best wishes for her.

Hi KellyLouise, Has Chloe had an ultrasound to rule out an adrenal tumour? My old boy (RIP last week) had this and showed classic Cushings symptoms and was "borderline" in blood tests. Wishing her all the best - it is very difficult with our dearly loved old dogs.

Hi Sheridan, Just caught up with your thread - poor Grumpy. My old boy did appallingly on Tramal, extremely disorriented, completely lost his house training, it was a nightmare. My vet took him straight off it and it did take him some days to recover. He is now on Metacam and is comfortable on it. He sleeps most of the day and night, he is 13. I put him out to toilet and potter around the yard but that is about all he does. Best wishes for Grumpy.
