Woohoo well done, Enjoy the many years you will have with Archie, just don't forget pics please

I couldn't agree with you more ELLZ. I too have advertised in such places, it's gives the public a chance to see the difference between the Registered Breeders & the BYB, so never discount a RB just because they advertise in Trading Post etc.

Yes it is possible to have "Liver" both in solids & roans. As settrlvr said just make sure the approiate health checks are done.

{Quote}So $500 is too cheap and there is either something wrong with the pup, the breeder is not doing the appropriate health tests and is not caring for their dogs as well as they should be (maybe not feeding premium foods etc.) and/or they are backyard breeders {Quote}DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER getting (cheap)cocker ;you are buying trouble!. I am sorry my fellow Cocker people but I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. Up until a couple of years ago I was still selling my pups for $500.00, I have now upped the price to $750.00 to cover DNA & microchipping. If I thought the pup was going to a wonderful home where it was going to be loved I would still sell @ $500, to me it is more important that the pup was going to a good home, I would be happy to cover the expenses. Not everyone can afford $850, doesn't mean they can't afford to look after the pup. Maybe you had better not buy a pup from me cos I am too cheap !!!!! (not that I have any) & I MUST be a puppy farmer. With all due respect if the pup & breeder are registered, health tests are done I would say go for it, not EVERYONE charges so much.

The morphine will be making her constipated, I am on the morphine patches too so I know

unfortuanately we haven't had very good news today & I am so bloody confused. The herbalist said he has the body of a 10 year old dog. Thinking back I now realise that these sympton have been around for about 12 months, he started getting very sluggish, wouldn't show, can't get in the car or on the bed. He has had accpuncture today to try to improve his energy levels as they were zilch, he also came home with a bottle of potion which may improve his skin. She has also said she has never seen a case of PF & isn't confident that she can cure it. So how far do you go????? I am going to talk to my vet again tommorow, I am just so confused, I really want to do the best thing for Boris but I really don't know what that is
-
Thought I would start a separate post for Boris, today is D day & I am very worried. This morning I noticed he is a bit weak in his back legs, "Teddy" was sitting on top of the stove ( have to take it off him otherwise he won't go outside) when he came back inside he couldn't reach up to get it. Gidget could reach it, but she didn't want the stinky thing, but Boris just couldn't jump to reach it. He has been getting a bit stiff for a while now, guess I just never really noticed it, he hasn't been able to jump on the bed for months, has to use Misty's steps, just thought he was being lazy. He is only 5, Please keep him in your thoughts today.

UPDATE. I put CS in Misty's ear this morning, tonight when I got home there was hardly any pus in it at all & she wasn't shaking her head, so have put some more in tonight, will see what it is like in the morning
-
I have just started Boris on CS for his Pemphigus Foliacuoeus, & Misty for her ear infection, so I will watch with interest to see what happens. I am very open minded when Misty's ear infection has been ongoing for so long, nothing the vets have giving me have worked, and it has cost me a fortune & they can't knock her out to clean it anymore. As for Boris I am trying it along with what the chinese herbalist suggests when we visit her next week.

Hello there, I am sure we would all love to see some pic's of your little chewer, not that it will help but we do love to see pic's. I also say puppies can only destroy things that you leave lying around, you have to be very vigilant, it's like having kids around lol. There are some products you can use to spray on things that are suppose to stop them chewing. Just make sure you have lots of toys & bones for her (which I see you have). Goodluck

Yes you can use your oster blades on the wahls, and andis blades

My wonderful vet has organised a appointment for me with the Chinese herbalist. Boris is to visit on the 2nd June, My vet certainly thinks it is worth trying before we go down the cortisone track.

Vet Recommendations - Geelong/werribee Areas
Silverblue replied to Artstitches's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I could not read this thread without recommending my fav vet, Harley Maxwell Corio Vet Clinic Bacchus Marsh Rd & Forrest Rd in Lara. Harley is a fantastic vet, after all the problems with Boris' Pem Fol he has organised a Chinese Herb vet for me, our consult is on 2nd June. He is a very caring vet & the staff there are all very nice. -
I use the Wahl KM2 and find them more than powerful enough to do any breeds. I don't like the Oster's, use to use them, but once they heated up they didn't cut properly. Have been very happy with the Wahl's

How very tragic for all involved, i felt sick reading this. Now I am crying, Harminee you really are a angel that is beautiful.

Groomers! Are You Sick Of Clueless Clients
Silverblue replied to qashmir's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Glad to see this thread back on track, backstabbing & name calling is not productive. I had a client yesterday who wanted "same as last time", the wife wasn't there and he didn't speak good english. Last time the dog was a mess and had to be clipped short with a 7 , when I spoke to her on the phone she said he wasn't as bad so won't need to go as short, but he keep saying "same as last time". It was confusing, I tried to show him on the dog, but he didn't really understand. I ended up using the 1/4 comb and hoped for the best, wife came home just as I had finished and YAHHHH I had got it right. So as for leaving notes, it doesn't really work,as someone stated what is "Short", my short is a 7, their short could be a 1/4 comb, you really need to clarify with the owners, I usually do a small test patch. Then there is the clients who have a foxy x that I have to use a 30 blade on. Can't get much shorter. -
As I said I love my vet. Went to see him today armed with all the research I had done on PF, He is happy to speak to a Chinese herb type vet to see if any of the treatments I had would work for Boris, all I had to do was tell him the names of the stuff & he is going to do the rest. Not very often would you find a vet that is happy to explore all the other avenues before starting on the heavy drugs. I do feel a bit better tonight, either way it is going to be a very costly exercise, but what do we do.

My old Misty has pancreatitis, she is a Cocker. When she was first diagnonsed they put her on a very strict Hill's ID diet. After a while I thought the tin stuff must be so bland for her, so I started adding a bit of boiled chicken, and eventually cut out the tinned food all together. She now has boiled chicken, rice, stockgain & enxyplex (which help the pancrease), she also has sardines, chicken necks yogurt, vegie mix & brewers yeast. She is 14 & 1/2 and still going strong. Oh almost forgot to add this morning she had nettle tea with honey & apple cider vinegar, was spose to be for Boris but she HAD to have some.

OK, just got off the phone to the vets, we are having a meeting tommorow to discuss what we are going to do, he wants to start the cortisone, but is happy to listen to the research I have done so hopefully we can come to some sort of agreement. I guess in the end we both want what is best for Boris, no matter how we achieve it. I am just soooooo bloody scared

I have Wahl & Jaguar, I use them for different things. I prefer the single sided.
