Today was the day I have been dreading for a very long time, I had to say goodbye to my best friend, but now she is free of pain & tablets. I know she will be waiting for me at the bridge. She certainly had a very fullfilling 16 years, I am still in shock at the moment.

I asked myself the same question, but 2 vets assured me it was NOT time yet, as she seems happy & is still enjoying her food. I think it is a case by case situation, You did what you thought was right, I am doing what I think is right.
-
Just home from vets & am after some feedback............... At the moment she has in the morning: Fortekor Vetmedin Frudix Rimadyl Tramal At night she has: Vetmedin Frudix Tramal Fitergol Has anyone had any success with the "Fitergol", seems she either has a brain tumor or has had a stroke, she had a episode of "Canine Geriatric Vestibluar" quiet a few months ago, but recovered very well from it. I really didn't expect her to come home tonight, so we will cherish everyday from now on, she sure is keeping me broke, but I would do anything to make her last days/months/years comfortable for her.

Very sad to hear of your loss, it is so very hard when they get older, what a great life he had.
-
Got my numbers yesterday, only doing Tuesday, It is my first show back since having my shoulder done, YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
-
My old girl had it, but she was 15 at the time, I have only heard of "Geriatric Vesticular" never in a pup so young. But Misty was back to herself after about 10 days, with no head tilt at all.

30.2 here in Geelong at the moment. I am afaid all mine are inside, only because I have the day off, 44 is way too hot for me to work outside today. -
Today my heart girl turns 16, & I just wanted to share what a legend she is. After battling Mammary Cancer, Pancreatitis, Geriatric Vesticular Disease & heart failure she still bounces back. I think she understands how hard it will be for us if she leaves.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Colour Possibilities
Silverblue replied to Purple Diamond's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just be prepared for the answers though !!!!!!! I have just been through it myself, had DNA taken for "Clear By Parentage" turns out the sire on the pedgiree wasn't the actual sire, IT CAN HAPPEN. shouldn't but can. Worse bit was I sent the bitch away to be mated. -
Well done on getting some of the weight off them, but going by the pic's and your last post we weren't to know that. Staffords do make lovely pets, so I would be having what you have desexed & if you are really serious about breeding buy in something of quality & disregard the whole colour thing, that was a lesson I learnt many years ago. Years ago my mentor told me "Like breeds Like & Type breed Type", I have carried this with me forever, she also told me "If you can't bred to improve type DON'T breed at all". Never wiser words said. Stafford's are a dime a dozen, you want something special to go on with if you are indeed serious about breeding good quality pups. I certainly wouldn't be offering any pups on the main register, especially given this is your first litter. Take what I have said as you will, but I mean it in good faith.
-
They are not "overweight" they are OBESE !!!! And given that they do seem to have odd shaped heads I would agree with Skybreaker, they certainly will have problems with the heat is they don't loose a awful amount of weight. Where are you Warley & Ellz ??????
-
Gee Sway, you should get your eyes checked, that ain't no "fella", maybe it is the "Mumma"
-
I have been thinking this for a very long time Ellz, We as breeders do tend to interfer too much, But take some breeds that cannot mate/whelp/raise their pups without our help, what would happen to those ??, are we prepared to loose those breeds I had alway thought if they can not do all of the above naturally should they be allowed to be bred from, maybe only try to use lines that are trouble free. At any time I realise that a emergency can crop up where a C section may be needed, but breeds that are only here because of them is a worry. JMHO

Grover Is Really Sick - Another Change
Silverblue replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have everything crossed here for Grover. -
No babies here, after 2 ultrasounds still couldn't find anything. So very sad reading all the losses this month, my heart goes out to you all.
-
AWWWWWW, thankyou, Can I unwrap it before Xmas ??????? *bugger off Warley*
-
Christina, I can totally understand why you get so cross, It makes me mad also that these so called "breeders" take our lovely purebreds that we put our heart & soul into & create these bloody DD's.
