  1. I doubt I ever will again either, the careless mistake by 1 breeder has set my breeding plans back 5 years, from now on I will be accompaning my girls, or like I just did the male will come here, thanks to a very understanding caring stud dog owner.
  2. Make sure the right dog serves the bitch ( just been through that ), I owuld want to know that there is only the chosen sire on the property at the time.
  3. OH NO Can it get any worse ??? TBCSITW was a symbol of hope, I don't know what to say ;)
  4. Oh dear, that is not good at all, I was hoping to read he had come home. Sending all our healing thoughts to Jane.
  5. How are you holding up Toohey??? Have had you in my thoughts as well today
  6. I have been reading this all day & still don't really know what to say. I could never imagine the heartache felt by Jane as she tried so hard to save her beloved friends. Stay strong, TBCSITW really needs you now.
  7. Just had to post to say my new boy "Haradwater Special Edition For Silverblue" had his first show this last weekend at the Badajoz International Show in Spain where he was awarded BOB PUPPY & Reserve Best Puppy In Group , Not a bad debut. He leaves next week to start his journey down under, I can't wait to give him a BIG HUG XXXXXX Thanks for letting me share my joy.
  8. Yes, but I have found the skip tooth is better for the Oodle type coats as they leave them more naturally shaggy. Oh & you shouldn't worry about nicking them if you know how to use them correctly
  9. Dr Rod Salter as advised on another forum, from what I can tell it is the same procedure as is done under GA. Not many dogs I know of that would sit still for that ???????? The vet admits not many dogs will sit still for such a procedure. To me it sounds like a lot of uneeded stress to put on a dog, I would rather have a GA, Oh & ANY dog can be at risk of a GA, pre bloods & fluids would be a option in those circumstaces.
  10. Greatdane girl, I thought that as well, BUT.................. I took on a 3rd job & worked my butt off all of last year to be able to afford the dream of a life time, and now it is soooooo close, I would never take anything for granted again, firstly being approved by the breeders as a suitable home for one of their stunning puppies, & then to have such a great rapport with them for them to export one of their babies to sooooo far away. I am truely privilidged
  11. 18 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://users.ncable.net.au/~silvrblu As you can tell we are a little excited about our new boy that will be winging his way to Australia very soon
  12. I am absolutely speechless, how the hell has this happened. Now he has 4 dogs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. sorry don't agree ....................... If say 3 dogs of a different breeding were to get loose, I doubt they would go hunting to kill other dogs, I know plenty of breed types that wouldn't do this, or are you saying it is normal behaviour for the breed type portrayed in this story.
  14. I am in tears of disbelief & anger watching that clip, I remember Keith telling me about that when it happened, both he & his wife were way beyond devastated at what had happened to their beloved pets, The owner of the offended dogs makes me sick at his flippant response, Of course the dogs should be destroyed, it is not normal behaviour. RIP little Chi's
  15. Luckily mine is not due until the middle of next month, so hopefully by then the back load should be cleared up a bit.
  16. 5pm news reports it was pit X staff, it was destroyed at the scene.
  17. Just to clarify I was not/am not contiplating doing such a mating. I just shudder to think what might have happened had I not found out that the "Clear" dog that I was lead to believe was the sire of my pups was infact not the father & the real sire has turned out to be a carrier. I WOULD have done this this mating thinking my bitch was clear by parentage, when now she is a confirmed carrier, wonder what the ramifications would have been then.
  18. That is sort of what I am getting at, why is it only "Prohibited" In Victoria, shouldn't the ban be Australia wide if the consequences are so bad. I am aware that "Most" breeders in other states wouldn't do it, but surely there are some out there that aren't as scrupulous as others and would do this mating.
  19. Just a hypothetical, I am after opinions, Say you lived in Vic would you mate a carrier to carrier (PRA) knowing you would have to test the whole litter, And if you did what would you do with the Affected pups ?? Just curious.
  20. Should have added, yes she has payed for the DNA testing to be done. I am just glad it is over.
  21. Just thought I would share with you all the absolute nightmare I have been through. 2 years ago I sent a bitch off to a "breeder" to be mated, all went well, bitch came home in whelp. She surprised us by delievering 9 healthy bubs 4 days early. I kept 2 of these pups, sold another 2 on main register to show homes (both good friends) the rest went to loving homes. I had had Mum tested & she was CLEAR for PRA & FN, the sire I chose was also CLEAR for PRA & FN, so no worries right??? WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When the pups were about 15 months old I thought I woud have him tested so I could get his "Clear by Parentage " certificate. You can imagine my total disbelief & shock when I got the call from GTS to say that the sire on his pedigree had been EXCLUDED as the actual sire, once I picked myself off the floor they asked if I knew of any other dog on the property, there was another one, so I told them who he was and with in 10 mins they had called me back to tell they had run his DNA against the pup and it came back a absolute match. I rang the "breeder" to be told bullshit blah blah, but there was no denying it, as the pup was the spitting image of him & it all fell into place why she whelped early, this "breeder" allowed my bitch to run with the other dog before she was mated to the dog of my choice. To make matters worse, yes it gets worse..................................... The actual sire was a Carrier of PRA, which I know isn't the end of the world, but not what I choose, so we had all the 4 pups on the MR tested, and all but one of them came back "Carriers" , I was truely devastated. It has been such a saga to get the pedigree papers changed, it has taken 5 months of Stat Decs, lost mail, countless phone calls, but finally this week the new papers arrived with the correct sire now listed.
  22. Thanks everyone, She sure was a super little dog. We miss her very much
