  1. I have used a sieve before I got a air tight bin to store my food in.
  2. I have had 3 bitches have 9 puppies, it is a lot of hard work in those first few weeks, especially doing head counts every couple of hours !!!!
  3. I fail to see how that is funny in the context of this story.
  4. Today it is my turn to post & it sucks !!!!!! This time 1 year ago, I looked into that beautiful wise old face & knew it was time, I never really knew how much it would affect me. Misty was one in a million and I miss her every single day. 11.1.94 - 8.2.10
  5. Any chance you know who the Italian Greyhound belonged to? It was handled by Adam ( Clovelly ) so I assume it was theirs

  7. Well that takes the cake !!!!!!! The absolute stupidity of it.
  8. Weather for Sunday is 32 according to the weather watch site Not sure why you were upset with the secretary, Imagine if everyone wanted to do this.
  9. Having just been to EC, I can tell you, you really would be better hiring a car IF you are intending on going there. I was told taxi's aren't too keen to go there & there are no trains within walking distance. We stayed at the Voyager Motel which is about 1 & 1/2 min drive to Quarantine station, very handy but they don't allow dogs. I could only go visit my boy once, but was lucky to have someone go in & groom & sit with him, maybe you could ask around & someone may be able to go for you, or you can use one of the "walkers". Shame there is no where you can leave the other dogs while you visit.
  10. I once argued with someone, they were trying to tell me thier emaciated Pit bull was a Italian Greyhound !!!!!
  11. I have just imported from a Cat 4 country & all up I have spent almost $8K, that includes quaratine, only just paid that this week !!!!!! I wasn't charged boarding either, however I did pay for entries over there as he was already registered in my name, glad I didn't have to do that too often !!!! and we complain about entry fees here, YIKES. Not sure what Cat US is though ????
  12. I do agree with what you are saying in regards to breeding your own dogs, but unfortunately sometimes we have to go "outside" our own dogs & this I believe is where the problems can arise.
  13. We do 2 DNA tests in our breed. I have said for many years, before this happened, How many generations would you go before retesting??, there are many different factors that can arise which is what I was trying to get at in my first post. For my own peace of mind I would & do still test each generation.
  14. And so they should be, as in my case where it was proven the sire registered on the pedigree was not infact the actual sire !!!!!! It is suprising just how often this occurs.
  15. [Poor Puppies maybe you should stop being so judgemental and wait until you see how it is done, properly, than you can make an informed decision. I agree Rebanne, I too have used this method & when done correctly it does them no harm. Turkish You really need to stop condemming what other breeders do until you have seen it yourself, you are implying that those of us the have /do use this method are being cruel to our dogs, I for one take exception to this.
  16. I have just done this also, My boy came from a Cat 4 country and is currently in jail !!!!!! I am glad he spent the longer time in Portugal, he has been to some shows with the breeder, has had plenty of socilaistion & LOTS of love. I think 30 days in jail is more than enough when they get here. edited to add.... bad enought $39 X 30 days, let alone $39 X 120 days
  17. My thoughts exactly, sounds the same as the symptoms my old Misty had. Would be very surprised if it was related to the tablets
  18. After a VERY long wait, lots of worry & bloody red tape we finally had touchdown last night Peter ( Haradwater The Special Edition For Silverblue ) has made the very long journey from Portugal. Now he has to do his time in jail before he can come home.
  19. I have always believed that when I speak of bettering the breed, I am not looking at changing the entire population, but fixing the issues that are apparent in my own yard. We all want the best dogs we can get, but we all know no dog is perfect....fixing an issue like feet, might result in a neck length we don't prefer...so next time...try to fix that....if we are doing things well, many of us will be able to say that generation x was better than generation w in some areas, and generation y is better than the one before in other areas.....we are in fact, bettering the breed. Yes I think this is important, Also my idea's on "bettering the breed" include on having problem free dogs in your breeding program, with the help of DNA testing this is becoming a lot more common now days, but also includes dog with other genetic problems, those that can't be "tested" for but we all know are lurking in our lines, be it loose eyes, splayed feet etc. Each generation we breed should hopefully be better than the previous one.
  20. Who would know Luke ???? She is looking lovely , best to perserve with her bathing, naughty girl !!!!!! In regards to the eye, it is just a unpigmented haw, not sure where they came from but Daisy & Manny have one also, Glad to see she has settled well, they sure can test us sometimes. Daisy is such a naughty girl, wouldn't even play with the commoners at puppy school, yet Manny is such a sweetheart, think I kept the wrong one
  21. Agree Ellz, While we do tend to see a awful lot of a certain breed at work that have lived together for years & then all of a sudden turned on each other & yes, 99% are females. I have a visiting Cocker here at the moment, visits quiet often, on the first occasion her & My female Welsh Springer had a fight, luckly I was there to break it up. Now I can barely have these 2 bitches in thier crates in the same room, this has been going on now for almost 12 months, the DO hold grudges & they DO remember. My Welsh is fine with my other entire Cocker bitch, but as everyone who has 2 entire bitches together I am always mindful & never leave them together if I go out, especially since my Cocker had a litter and I have kept another bitch. You just need to be aware that it can happen.
  22. I believe it was Lance Wright , his Older dog was Top Dog, and I THINK his son was POY, both Poodles Just something I read somewhere, stand to be corrected !!!!!
  23. Hi there, I agree with Ellz & Aziah, the more you change her food around the less likely she is going to eat it, they are like kids, she will just keep waiting until you give her something she likes. Now that you have decieded on the Barf patties stick with them, no doubt she will grow tired of them soon enough, just don't change them now, shew will not starve herself. Tell her Misty would be ashamed of her !!!!!!!! She would eat sawdust if I put sauce on it!!!!!
