They do not look stupid I think they come up a treat. Their coat does grow back a bit thicker, but if you are going to keep getting it clipped what the hey ! I know there are alot of people against clipping & yes I agree some dogs are not meant to be clipped, most are fine & really appreciate it in summer, god I shave my oldies off every year, I know they feel alot better, So in the DO YOU - DON'T YOU CLIP arguement I am definatley All for it.

I clip alot of Border Collies in the summer, so go for it

Whilst I was a the vets last night ( getting more bloody Baytril) someone rang up & said they thought their dog had infact eaten rat sak. It must have been a while after it had eaten it ??????????????? Vets advise was "It was too late to try to make it vomit, that has to been done pretty well straight away" & "To bring it in ASAP as it will more than likely bleed to death internally if left" Why on earth would anyone even have to think twice before taking their "Beloved Pooch " to the vets STRAIGHT AWAY :shakehead: :shakehead: :shakehead:

My old dog sleeps on my bed every night, as was stated earlier I would much rather sharing my bed with her than some smelly snoring. At least I know where she has been !!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL's at ELLZ When I go away Mum has to come over & sleep in my bed so as Misty has someone to sleep with, not that she is spoilt of course

Agree 100% Pandii, I too think it is more important to get him into the habit of actually eating regardless of what it is. BTW my doggies quite like the rolls as well every now & then

If they can't be brushed out, 15' blade may be the only option, he will look bloody stupid for a while, but it may make the owners more aware that they should be brushing it :D

I would be sticking to the recommended diet, it is not cheap (as I know too well), I doubt the vet is trying to rip them off. My old girl suffers from acute pancreatitis & i would not be risking anything with her, apart from the odd chicken neck ( Skinless ) of course. It is a very painfully, potentually fatal illness that should not be taking lightly There is a tinned version as well as crunchies.

The best thing you can do for your baby is to have the insight, as to know when. The pain relief your baby is on is the same as my girl & it is really not a long term solution, I alway believe that you know when it's time, don't feel guilty, know that you are doing the very best thing for your best friend that you can. It's just SOOOOOOOOO bloody hard

I can reply from a groomers & exhibitors point of view: I personally would not do show clips as it leaves yourself wide open for problems " The dog didn't win because ..........." Believe me I have heard of alot of problems arising from this. Also as an exhibitor I personally would prefer to do my own, no one can do it "just the same" Mind you if your saw my dogs sometimes at a show you would have to but that is due to lack of time to do them correctly, also after grooming other dogs all week the last thing i feel like doing is my own dogs. It's a shame the breeder can't help you, I had a fantastic mentor when I started who showed me how to clip & groom my cockers, even now she loves "getting at them " with scissorss in hand Good luck in your search for someone to help you, I would do it, so long as you wanted a 5' blade all over

LUVBUG, Reading your posts was like listening to myself describing what I went through with my girl. Baytril, Surolan, Otomax & Rimadil, unfortuanately nothing worked for my girl, she also had a ruptured ear drum, so putting all this gunk in her ear was doing more harm than good. It was a nighmare, we had the ear resection talk, not an option. We had our beautiful girl pts to ease her suffering

I am in tears reading some of these posts so soon after our beautiful Chloe was PTS. A friend once told me " Give your heart to a dog & they will break it everytime " how true this is. Chloe is the 1st Cocker I have had to have PTS, it was the most painful thing I have ever had to do. Just remember they will all be there waiting for us, tongues hanging out, tails wagging. That's what I think anyway.

I feel for you, i had the same thing with my Chloe, mind you putting it off was the worst thing i could have done, I spent the whole weekend fretting about it, in hindsight I should have done it there and then. Instead i had the most shitfull weekend knowing that it was getting closer, I would never do that again, thinking I was giving her a great time, doesn't happen like that. They sense that something is up. We planted a rose named " Remember Me " on her grave, it was breed by Cocker of Scotland, very apt I thought. My thoughts are with you at this time, & my heart aches for what you are going through
