  1. I love this ad too. The dog is adorable and obviously well trained! The only problem with this ad is that I pay more attention to the dog, not what they're tried to sell! Gives me a giggle, I wish they'd play it more often :D
  2. Thanks for the replies everyone! Don't know why I didn't think of any of these. Holly will love the banana and yogurt Went and bought them a Kong each this ave and stuck a little peanut butter and sultanas in it They loved it! Frozen stock will go down well too! Thanks muchly! :D
  3. Hi, our dogs are fed according to 'give your dog a bone' by Ian Billinghurst, so we don't like them to have any commercial dog bickies, ect. I was wondering what sort of natural fillings can you use in toys like Kongs, ect ? Thanks, S. :)
  4. lol, Holly does a dance around her roo rolls - but she doesn't take half an hour
  5. When Henry was a pup they used to last for a few days, then he got them done to a couple of minutes. Once he nearly choked on one and hasn't had them since. Poor baby's screams were terrible ! Now we give them beef & roo rolls instead. He's only a little dog (shit tzu x) but boy is he a greedy gums!
  6. Oh yes, we too are loonies who speak to their dogs. "Ready for school?" (obedience training)Holly jumps up and down and starts howling at us to hurry up! "Guess what's for breakfast this morning puppies? Vegetables, with yoghurt! You like yoghurt, don't you? Yes. Here you go then." Once my sister's dog was playing up big time in heeling training. My sister bends down and looks at him. "Henry, if you don't hurry up and learn you won't pass class one. Honey (dog at school) will beat you Henry. We don't want that, do we? We have to beat Honey, Henry! You have to graduate!" Amazingly he seemed to listen - his heeling improved remarkably. *sigh* I'm sure we sound quite crazy.....just as well we live out of town so no neighbors to hear us ;)
  7. Toy: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Small: Shetland Sheepdog Medium: Border Collie, Aussie Shepherd Large: Old English Sheepdog, Golden Retriever Giant: can't think of ANY giants - they're just tooooo big for me :) (and collies or sheepdogs don't come that big ;) )
  8. Look at that face! He is so cute Ozstar! LC, your puppy is adorable!
  9. Your No 1. is the Irish Setter. :) You might want to take a look at the Irish Red and White too!! lol - see, I really don't know anything about these breeds and it is really looks only! (bar the kelpie :))
  10. 1. Red Setter 2. Kelpie 3. Sheltie 4. Aussie Sheppard 5. Cocker Spaniel and can I add a 6? Cavalier King Charles :D
  11. Thanks for your replies everyone. There seems to be quite an information overload with regards to health and speying/not speying....
  12. Oh my goodness - she's so CUTE!! Still calling her Dovah?
  13. Here's a homemade biscuit recipe that our dogs always enjoy. You can use them as a training treat, or give them to your dog with a little yogurt for something different 1 cup of rolled oats 1 cup wholemeal flour 1-2 whole eggs Enough water to make it stick Optional - fresh garlic chives snipped through, a little gravy, ect. (Note: mixture will not keep as long with gravy) If using gravy, lower the egg content Mix flours with eggs and enough water to make it all come together. Press mixture onto baking tray and bake in moderate oven for 20 -30 minutes, or until quite hard and dry.Turn onto rack to cool and cut into squares. Store in the fridge. I like to roll the mixture into bite sized balls, but this can take a little extra time. I find the biscuits dry out better this way and keep for longer. If you add too many eggs, the mixture does not dry as well and doesn't keep as long. Make sure biscuits are completely cool before storing, otherwise they will sweat and go moldy. S. :)
  14. She's so cute IggyLover! Unuscornu hope you're enjoying your new arrival! :D
  15. Thanks for your reply Nekhbet! :D Sorry for hijacking your thread ArtMaster :)
  16. Do you leave your bitches entire and not breed with them? Just interested because my sister's bitch is at the so called 'desexing age'.
  17. She probably isn't too small to breed - I just mean that she is so tiny that her babies would be really, really little. Did a search - somewhere said that 25% of entire bitches get pyo ???
  18. Border Collies - am getting one Honestly BCs are the only dog I want, but if I had to pick another it would be Cavalier King Charles or Cocker Spaniel.
  19. woohoo - good for you Unuscornu !! Lucky you get her so early!
  20. Thanks for the replies everyone! :) Don't worry, Holly is too little to have puppies anyway, and there are enough byb crossbred pups around without us contributing to the over population! :) In regards to pyo, I'd never heard of it before. Do you know how common it is, or if it is more common in certain breeds than others? S. :)
  21. So my sister's bitch is in season for the first time. The vet told us to leave her for a season or two before desexing, as it is better for her. My sister doesn't want her to have surgery, so isn't sure whether she'll actually get her desexed. If she does decide to do so, what age would be best to do so? I've heard that letting them completely mature is best, but wasn't sure? Thanks, S. :)
  22. Jack Russell x Shit tzu, 1 boy, 1 girl (technically my sister's ;) ) About to get my first Border Collie :D
