Anti-barking Collar Recommendations

I think Holly barks a lot when no one is home too. :) She seems to actually find it a pleasant pass time  -
Anti-barking Collar Recommendations
Rilla-My-Rilla replied to Rilla-My-Rilla's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I had a read through the page on why dogs bark, and with my sister's dog I think there are a variety of reasons. Most of her barking is at things that don't exist, she's a very talkative girl and seems to enjoy woo-woo-ing, especially at breakfast time. And she barks at night time, as soon as it gets dark, when the other dog doesn't bark. He only barks when there is something to bark at. I've seen Holly (the barker) sun baking before, and she'll sniff the wind and then howl at that. Her barks are very loud, and very annoying - probably more annoying to the neighbours than us. My sister is still not sure on the barking collar, she's going to try some other things, then use the collar if she has to. :) -
Anti-barking Collar Recommendations
Rilla-My-Rilla replied to Rilla-My-Rilla's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
1. What brand was it? Dogtra YS300 2. How effective was it? And did it correct the problem in the long-term. My sister probably doesn't want her dog to wear one for the rest of it's life. Very. Stopped the nuisance barking within a week. 3. What type of collar was it, e.g. electric, citronella, etc. Vibration/electric stim 4. Also wondering if there is a type that you can set to a particular level, so that it stops nuisance barking, but the dog will still through it for stranger alert? My Mali still alert barks through the lowest stim setting, if she has reason to bark she doesn't even notice it. The collar gives a vibration warning then if the dog barks again it will give a stim. The collar will only give one stim per 15 seconds regardless of how much the dog barks. However if it's on the right setting the first one should be enough to interrupt any nuisance barking. I'm asking for my sister. She owns a Jack Russel x Shit tzu, and she is quite tiny, so she'll need a brand suitable for small dogs, not a big clunky thing that hangs off her neck. The one I have is quite small, plenty of length in the strap but lots of room to adjust for a smaller dog. I think it would be fine for a smaller dog. Hope that helps. Thanks, some useful info, I think k9pro had those ones on their website. :) -

Thanks persephone! That artical is interesting, and the ones follwing on from it. I had a look through the whole website actually, and found it quite good. :) -
I'm after recommendations of good quality anti-bark collar brands and types. For people that have used them, my questions are - 1. What brand was it? 2. How effective was it? And did it correct the problem in the long-term. My sister probably doesn't want her dog to wear one for the rest of it's life. 3. What type of collar was it, e.g. electric, citronella, etc. 4. My boy dog is extremely suspicious of any food he doesn't have to work for, because it's almost always a vegetable

Bindy is cute, looks a bit confused lol. Lovely photos! -
Thank-you very much, I'd like to take you up on your offer....would it be okay if I PM you my details?
-
Thank-you very much for the offer RiverStar-Aura! That's really kind of you. I'd just be worried if my puppy chews it or something, I don't know how tough they are....if you'd be wanting it back? Do they wash well? I just know that pups can have accidents in their beds for the first few nights or so... Thanks so much again! :D It's really nice of you
-
Thanks everyone1 It's good to know other peoples experiences with them :) lol, don't worry not too excited. I'm not going to buy anything until the puppies are born, but I like to have my research done already. I'm the biggest worrier in our house - always coming up with potential problems - sometimes not quite realistic ones lol.

Hi, So the pregnancy has been confirmed and in a couple of months I'll be welcoming my little puppy home (yay!) I'm probably a bit ahead of myself, LOL, but I was wondering if anyone had heard of Snuggle Puppies? (http://www.vetproductsdirect.com.au/itemdesc.asp?ic=snuggle2) Has anyone used them? If so, were they any good; did they puppy like them? Pup will be 8wks old when it comes home and it will be mid-end of winter. I won't need the bottle part on it, so I was also wondering if there are any other similar products around that people had used? And is there any other places you can purchase these online, for a little bit cheaper maybe or is this a good price? Sorry for all the questions! Look forward to people's feedback. :)

Good luck and hope you get good marks! :D

Oops, I Think I Just Fed My Dog An Off Bone
Rilla-My-Rilla replied to Inka3095's topic in General Dog Discussion
She should be fine.... If you're worried give her vitamin C, either way it won't hurt. :) -
So it's a good thing? Sorry for my ignorance...there's nothing about white poo in Give Your Dog a Bone :)
-
Wasn't sure whether to put this in here or in Health, so apologies if it's in the wrong place! :-) We feed our dogs raw, BARF style, and I have noticed that one of the dogs has started doing white/grey poos regularly. I remember someone else asking about them, put couldn't find anything in the search. Probably a silly question , but was just wondering.... Thanks!

Do Your Dogs Give You "presents"?
Rilla-My-Rilla replied to Squidgy's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's so cute! She'll be sad when her pelican needs replacing LOL Thank's sjp118. She certainly keeps us on our toes around with her antics. Stella is a very affectionate girl so she doesn't hold back when she greets either. Usually end up with pelican right in your face I bet I am the only dog owner in the world who has 8 fluffy toy pelicans in their laundry I like to give her a clean one each day cause they get so dirty & soggy. She wears out the tail part eventually as well cause that is the part she sucks on, she puts her front feet on its head & always lies like a turtle sucking away. Oh yes & poor "pete" the pelican doubles as a pillow when she falls asleep in the garden of an arvo. A pelican would have to be better than a smelly lamb bone....Henry brought me in one once when I was sick. He dropped it on the carpet and then decided the lounge would be a good place to suck on it. I was not impressed....neither was he when I took his bone and threw it back outside  Good on you Henry errrr. I don't know what's worse "Pete" is not too good when he is covered in dirt & saturated with slobber  I wonder how 'Pete' feels about being slobbered all the time, and all his other stuffed friends -
