  1. Lady is a nice one - except then she has to behave like one
  2. She's going to be called 'Hearts Desire' and will most probably be black and white (lol, she isn't even born yet )
  3. babe was one of my favs when i was little, and Fly was so nice, lol :D Not sure about whether I like old fashioned or not....my list is a little mixed :) Also like Meg and Nutmeg
  4. As the title says - any name ideas for a Border Collie girl? Mine so far - Shadow Pippa Harriet Fly
  5. Thanks everyone! Tried the target thing with my sister's dog - he just doesn't seem to get it! Guess I'll just have to keep running past the obstacles with him :)
  6. Thanks for your replies :) I am assuming you let the dog see you put food on the target?
  7. How do you teach the "Go Out" or "Ahead" command (like the one used in Agility events)? I've heard of using a 'target' and target sticks to teach the dog the command, but haven't actually been able to find anything useful on teaching this command. edited typo
  8. Did you feed him before hand? He wouldn't be interested in treats if he's nice and full.
  9. I need a good metal dog crate for a Border Collie, does anyone know of any good places to buy one online or of any good brands? Thanks, sjp118 :)
  10. My sister's pup smiles whenever he's really happy, or when he wants a belly rub! He'll also smile on command - sometimes! :D
  11. DeltaCharlie I just had a look at your website - your dogs are gorgeous! Especially like Ryans Sean and Springloded Rush
  12. Yeah, I thought I'd have to wait until my pup has passed basic obedience and was more mature, since he/she would have to be able to respond well to my commands and be trusted off leash. I always start researching something new when I start feeling impatient in my wait, so today I thought I'd ask about herding, lol! :) edited for typo :)
  13. lol, it does my head in some afternoons! Turkeys all stick together in a bunch and stay calm, even when they have a taipan surrounded!
  14. Thanks for your replies! Unfortunately there are no herding clinics in my local area and I don't own any sheep! I thought the turkeys might be easier to train on than the chooks, as they bunch and don't get startled and flap. If they don't like something, they just look at it suspiciously and walk quietly away. :)
  15. I want to train my Border Collie to round up the poultry for me, but was unsure of how to go about it. Was hoping someone could share any training tips or their experiences of this.... Thank in advance! :)
  16. Thanks Leema :) I don't in any way want to risk a pups health; I'm not against conventional vaccines, but I'm also open to other options.
  17. Okay, thanks again everyone for your advice! :) I'll continue in my research and keep chatting with my breeder...... Sarah
  18. I've read of people who vaccinated their pups and they still contracted parvovirus anyway...... Homeopathy is pretty gentle, so if I used it, I'd be careful where I took my pup before it was 12 weeks. Thanks for your thoughts everyone.... Sarah
