  1. Congrats on your new addition! What'd you end up naming her?
  2. Thanks for your help! :D Think Henry is too polite to paw at my hand...he is the most proper little dog I've ever met  I'll have a go and see what I come up with... thanks S.
  3. lappies are sooooo cute! She should be in season in 4-6wks or so (fingers crossed she's early again) :)
  4. I'll be sure to post in their when I get my pup
  5. I'd like to teach Henry how to shake hands. He's seven months old. What's the best way to try and teach this? Thanks, S :)
  6. What breed are you getting ceeshell? At the moment I'm still waiting for my breeder's bitch to come in season - then I get to count down to the birth! eta - typo
  7. Okay - think I'm definitely getting a crate :D thanks again everyone - you've convinced me!
  8. Hope everything went well for you today and you are enjoying your new puppy!
  9. Breeder recommended a 42", especially as we're not absolutely certain mine'll be e girl.... :)
  10. My other thought in getting one was because of one of the dogs we already have. He's a shit tzu x and has a bit of a jealous personality. Thought puppy might appreciate her own spot away from the others, since she'll sleep much more then them.
  11. Looks like I'll have to go crate :D  My sisters a bit like that - seems to think that if you have a 'cage' the dog will be locked in it all day! Thanks everyone :)
  12. Thanks for your replies everyone! :D Everything I've read sounds like it'd be easier with a crate...I've still several months before I have to make a decision any...
  13. Ours live outside most of time (are allowed on the couch with us when we're watching tv), they sleep inside. No go zones are laundry, toilets, and pantry. (also no beds, but try telling a sneaking jack russel cross that knows how to jump that)
  14. Hi All! I'm getting a Border Collie soon, it'll be 8wks when I bring it home. I've read lots about crates, and my breeder said they are useful, but I'm still undecided on whether or not to get one. The pup will be sleeping in my bedroom, and be mostly outside during the day. So - my question is - what are the pros and cons of crates? Are they really handy or am i better off finding a sturdy playpen for her to sleep in until toilet trained? Thanks in advance! :D sjp118
  15. Borrow 'Grow your pups with bones' by Ian Billinghurst from you local library. It's got a pattie recipe in there that you can freeze, I suppose a bit like the bought ones.
  16. We've been feeding our two the barf since we got them, and they have been doing quite well on it (they're 7 months old now). At the moment we seem to be having trouble getting them to eat their vegies though. Almost every night they refuse to eat their dinner, and not because they aren't hungry. They've eaten all of the vegetables before, and I know that they usually like them, but for some reason they won't eat it. The only vegetable I know to avoid is Celery, as Holly refuses to eat it! They usually get a mixture of Carrot, lettuce, a little bit of cabbage, peas, corn, tomatoes, any over ripe fruit, green leafy vegetables, ect... Hopefully it's just a stage they're going through! :)
  17. We feed our two dogs on the barf diet and find it great. I was just interested to hear other peoples experiences and thoughts on the barf diet, different variations they use, ect... :)
  18. My sister suggested Flit a while ago, but I had forgotten it until now :D
  19. Just thought of two more names....they probably belong on the 'unusual' list - Flick Flit :)
  20. Thanks for your replies everyone :) There certainly are some interesting names... I'm sure I'll probably name her something not even on my list when I pick her up  although pippa is still my fav :D
  21. I'm guessing Captain Snooze was sleepy?
  22. that'd be an easy one to remember! edited for typo
  23. 'Bramble', lol. It's cute, sounds like the dog would have to have a bit of a quirky personality...might add it to my list. :D
  24. Scout is cute. Heart is nice too, except we already have to dogs starting with 'h', and I think three h's would confuse them even more, lol :D
