I would have to know someone really well, or they pet/house sit professionally with references, before I left my dog with them. Specially where other dogs are involved.

Sars, the old cold air trick, gets me all the time! It's a real bugger! I've been on pred for over 30 years sars, I can't remember any early side effects other than being more hungry than usual. I don't experience any side effects these days, but it works really well on me, so hopefully you'll see a difference soon. Don't struggle with your breathing, use your Ventolin.

Sars, you can get quite smalll spacers these days. Good handbag size. My original one is a huge, bulbous shape, which is too bulky to cart around.

Sars, all great advice above. You may also need to revisit your asthma prevention plan with your doctor , GP or Specialist. Raise with them how many puffs per day you are taking of your preventative. I use Seratide, two puffs morning, two puffs nightly. If I'm sick, I increase to include two puffs at lunch time. Prednisone is an asthmatic's lifesaver. Not sure if you're on that at the moment, but if I'm a "bit far gone" , it's my next go to drug. I'm quite allergic to a lot of things, including dogs and cats. I have a doberman and two cats in the house, one being a fluffy ragdoll. I have found a quick vacuum over each day makes my breathing better controlled. I have one of those rechargeable stick vacs for this. I couldn't have a dog on the bed, eyes would get so puffy and close over, never mind the breathing. It's not a good look! ☺ I heard at an Asthma Foundation lecture some years ago, that a greater amount of medication gets to where needed when using a spacer. I'm a big fan of them. A nebuliser is a great investment too. Can you crate the dogs in your room, so that their hair isn't on your bed? Good luck, hope you can find a way to manage both your health and the dogs.

What a dreadful situation. My aunt who is 73 has just lost her elderly dog. The day after Benny died, one of her neighbours offered her a 6 month old Maltese cross. This lady also owns a 4 year old poodle, but felt the young pup wasn't a proper fit. My aunt feels the dogs are fine, and the owner is a bit of a worrier. Since the offer, the other lady has been quite undecided as to whether she really wants the dog gone. My aunt has told her that it is too soon for her to take on another dog as she is still grieving, but she is also feeling that this may backfire and they ask for the dog back. She has decided to not get involved, as she is certain it won't end well for her. I wish people didn't go into these situations lightly, if you have decided to rehome your dog, surely some thought has gone into this prior. I hope your family find the perfect solution and are happy with the outcome. Good luck. ????

Our old dobie wasn't happy at their arrival, but once in the door was happy to watch whatever they did. I'm sure she had the ability to change a waterpump in a dishwasher, she watched every move so intently. Young dobe is either crated, behind the baby gate, or popped on the back deck. She's not as interested in learning new skills!

"What's that crossed with" or "What kind of GSD or GSD x is that" is pretty common and I can't blame people for not recognizing what is a pretty uncommon breed but Greyhound does make me giggle. I remember years ago, I had Jeddah training with Sue Harper. A group of older teenage boys were watching, when finally one got up the courage to approach. Apparently he and his mates were convinced Jeddah was a Rottweiler. I think the black and tan colouring was way more convincing than body shape!! LOL Pointiest Rotti ever! I suppose the general public just can't wrap their head around Mals, they've got to be some sort of skinny, smooth GSD! ????

I haven't DDD, I must look on my mobile, haven't got any on my tablet. I'm a bit worried about my Aunt, as she's on her own and Benny was her only pet. We chatted last time he was sick, that if she decided to get another dog, we would take it on if anything happened her. She's missed having a cat, as Benny wasn't good with cats. So she may go down that path. It's such a shock though, he had been so well lately.

Well DDD, I mentioned that Danny looked so much like my Aunt's Benny. We lost Benny this week too. He was 16 years and 8 months. I think he was the most loved member of our extended family. He had similar health problems as your Danny too. Two little fluffballs in our hearts.

My pup flew from Perth to Brisbane, on a very late night flight, arrived the following morning around 5.00 am. This worked in well with natural sleep patterns. Breeder gave me name of the freight company, so I just dealt directly with them, but booking with all details breeder had already provided, date, time of flight. He already knew her preference for style and size of crate, so I just went with his suggestions. It was pretty easy and straightforward. I then forwarded confirmation of booking and payment to breeder. Crate was only hired for trip, with newspaper in the base. We had about a 15 minute drive home, so waited till we got home for toileting. She arrived fairly nonplussed about the whole thing. I did notice from photos that the breeder introduced crate training fairly early, which may have helped with preparing the pup for the trip. Paperwork was in a big envelope taped on the outside of the crate. Everything was in a folder with the plastic inserts; puppy feeding, care, pedigree, etc. Good luck, it's a pretty exciting time for you.

We did this, and still use the baby gate at 15 months. Gives the cats a chance to sleep undisturbed and "protects" the kitty litter. We've just recommenced a chewing stage, so it keeps things safe and sound in the bedroom. Love my baby gate!!! Pup is adorable, by the way!!

Aaaaw look at Meg, daintily squishing the box. Oh they are a handful alright. Kind of like one of those high maintenance girls we all know. Pretty, and know that they are pretty, and very needy! We've always kept our dobes pretty lean, though in saying that, they are pretty energetic! I love their need to be close, though some days I can be trapped when she lays on the bottom of my dress, and I cant stand up. Neediness has it's moments!☺

Oh Brandiandwe, I often wonder how Benny was going, he is the image of our late old girl. So sorry to hear that his health had deteriorated. But he was such a lucky boy to have found you, your husband and the greys. He lived out his life surrounded by love. ???? That is such a beautiful photo.
