Canidae Grain Free Salmon Formula
catzatsea replied to Boronia's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Well the jury is still out though I am suspicious that I have two out of three dogs starting to itch............. It is hard though as it is change of season and they are changing coats as well. -
Canidae Grain Free Salmon Formula
catzatsea replied to Boronia's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Was just coming in to seek the same answer :-) I just purchased a bag due to not being able to source Eagle Pack Holistic Salmon so the jury is out with me (though the dogs seem to love it) .......... Would love to hear thoughts from others though. -
So sorry to hear of your loss ;) RIP Tina

Being a 30 something empty nester that lived in inner-west (Camperdown) (Now opted for a tree change) I have to give the Shiba Inus a plug They are one of the easiest dogs I have owned for inner city living (and one of tghe hardest for rural lol).

When I went back through the dates of gestation I too discovered that they had been off to get shorn that particular weekend. The buggers were only off the property for a wee bit, no time wasting occurred to getting down to business on either side I suspect

Hi Magaretka, Welcome to DOL. There are a number of Shiba owners/ Breeders on this forum, not sure of their whereabouts though :-). I own 2 males and my Ma has one male, being in a small town they get ALOT of attention when we take them out. Cheers Catz

A Few Questions About Feeding My Dogs
catzatsea replied to FranVT's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
After years of trying to figure out who was right and who was wrong whilst figuring out what to feed my dogs I decided to let the dogs tell the story . If you need to add weight and their coats are shiny, stools are normal and non smelly etc then just add rice, pasta or throw a chicken wing or two as a treat. If you feel that your diet isnt working at all, do your research (like you are doing) but be prepared to take a little bit of this and a little bit of that from each person as after all, all of it is merely someones opinion and what worked for them may not necessarily work for you Puppys have small tummys so whilst they are growing they need small feeds often, I have a 16 week pup here that has just gone from 3 feeds to 2 a day and she seems to be coping with that, My 2 adult dogs get feed once a day with some sort of treat in the evening. -
hehe I can tell you get me on the right day and you are welcome to them Seriously we used to be in Sydney and now out SW NSW on acerage . I should pull the papers out as the boy hiding the bone is titled and I think Glendalin breeding My Mum also has a Shiba and he definitely is a character and a half as well . Someone asked about cats, I have two and dont have a problem at all but the Shibas do have rules in place and demand that they are are followed and respected , I nickname the younger fella the Manners Police ;) My cats are definitely more dog like then the Shibas

Shiba's are a fun dog to own but please take note of all the points raised here as all of them are spot on Bone what Bone?? See mum I CAN hunt!!!

Just would love to hear your thoughts on Large Breed puppy food versus Adult Dry (mainly Eagle pack) If Large Breed Puppy Crude Protein Not less than 23.00% Crude Fat Not less than 12.00% and Adult dry is Crude Protein Not less than 22.00% Crude Fat Not less than 12.00% is it really important to stick with the Large Breed puppy? (I have put a full table for comparison below) Reason for asking is that I live out regional NSW where dog food is done via mail order and large breed puppy is currently unavailable with my supplier, I feed my other dogs the Adult Eagle pack (salmon and anchovy) and was thinking I could feed pup that until supplies came back in. If not I will source out another supplier.......... You can use Apple Cider Vinegar to treat Fleas in many different ways. Not only can you add it to their water but you can spray bedding daily as well as the animal itself. Very effective longterm natural method if you are consistant .

I did as well and Totally agree, My Boys didnt too well off Eagle Pack but thrive off Eagle Pack Holistic. Saying that I had a dog on Eagle Pack Adult Fat Reduced and she did fantastic!! O and have tried over 50% on the list.

Control Unleashed - The Book
catzatsea replied to catzatsea's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Have you practised any of the techniques or are you waiting to finish the book? -
Started reading last night and hoping to finish it by the end of the weekend so I can start on the exercises. The send away game should be fairly easy as I already practice (albeit much more casual version) with my boys so I am excited about the possible progress with the added structure and fine tuning. Your Thoughts????

Crying Dog, Vet Is Stumped
catzatsea replied to Lynlovesdogs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Is that the physio with the hydro therapy??? I will put in a second reccomendation for the vet at Russel Lea, My boys love going there, fall asleep whilst having acupuncture and dont mind the chiropractic work. No mean feat for Spud and he has an internal hatred for vets. The only problem I have now is when we head to our other vet they run to the receptionist expecting her to drop everything to dote on them . -
Favourite Training Book?
catzatsea replied to leopuppy04's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
From what I've heard - they won't get much credibility from me either. Has anyone ever heard of "control unleashed" It has come highly recommended to me and would love to hear more Have just ordered a copy last week. Will let you know ! I ordered mine yesterday and very much looking forward to it. I wouldn't class Cesar Milan's book as a "training" book as such to me it is more aimed at techniques to use for relationship building within the pet home . -
