  1. usually only one time for training at ballarat which is 10am, earlier if you are a first day starter as u have to sit thru a video & fill out forms etc. Dunno if they have changed it but you normally have to start in class one usually the week after you join and watch the video (from memory it took a while and if you bring your dog/s make sure u have a crate or something as you cant bring them into the clubroom and it is getting bloody hot!!)... with beginner dogs.... if you have any passes ie encouragement or novice make sure to tell them that used to be a pass option to class 4 or 5, therwise you had to wait untill your class was assessd. im sure bullycat can tell you more
  2. lol btw your dog shouldnt sniff or lick the judge or steward in the fig8 LOL Bode failed his first try at novice mainly due to that, i would think as a show dog he would be used to standing still while someone runs their hands over him, ccd u can be close as it is on lead but novice you are a couple of meters away. recall distances can depend on the judge from 2/3's to 3/4's the ring length it seems in novice at least good luck!!!
  3. np ;) anytime u can spare give me a call :D tuesday nights is flyball but most other nights are good
  4. how did training go?? did bodie totally suck without his mummy?? lol i pick on Todd all the time but Bodie is such a sooky la la

I am from near ballarat.. not too far from snake valley I do flyball with weiners and tracking & obedience &tricks & agility at ballarat dog club (lol well will be doing more agility after christmas hopefully) and herding where ever i can get it!!! how big a place in snake valley?? would be good if we could all get to gether to work out something for herding.. maybe get David to come & bring some sheep and run a training day woohoo make it worth his while
  9. we had an interesting day at the ballarat comp it was coming down to the wire if it was to be cancelled due to heat (i snuck off after the heel work to take bodie for a swim) novice went thru, but i think open and UD actually held the stays in the shade out of the ring.. not 100% sure i was i wishing i had gone swimming too at that point
  10. You may not want to train her to avoid the chickens if you decide to do herding later you may end up having to herd ducks (not sure) i would seperate them and block visual or she could get obsessed.
  11. lol gratz on your new arrival i had a girl, i wont say little as she was 4.31kg!! even two weeks before her due date! and she has red hair scary!! she sleeps most of the day and will sleep from 11pm till 7 now lol i have already deserted her to do the trial on sunday where bodie got his pass i was away 8 hours and was bursting by the time i got home, LOL kept ringing to see if she was awake yet but she slept thru from when i fed her at 7.45 till 1:30 so i was home for the next feed she is very considerate lets hope that lasts fora while
  12. actually it was his first CD , pass in novice he got his CCD before i had the baby, i was vey proud as i have not been able to work with him and the surgury messed with my body language but he got a pass!! lol if he hadnt licked the judges hand in the fig * he might have got a pass in the morning too hehe
  13. I had an interesting experience yesterday, we returned from the dwon stays as we reached our dogs sides the one next to me sat up a second before the judge said end of exercise but still passed?? BTW bodie got his first CCD pass woo hooo
  14. Also i sent an email, not making any accusations just stating i would not be at training for a while and why, and that due to the incident i was now out of pocket, the owner was included in this email destination, maybe that was to subtle??? i have trouble coming out and saying "ok this incident was caused by your dog not being under control, and thru no fault of my/my dogs own im now out of pocket, and i feel you should take some responsibility and pay at least part of my costs" i communicate better in text than IRL. if it had been my dog causing the incident i would not have HAD to be asked ......
  15. Yes i had discussed this with the coordinator & club authorities and was told they would discuss it with the other party, this thread was pretty much due to uncertainty about what the club would cover, i was under the impression my member fees & weekly subsidy would cover me if my dog was injured as well as if i was injured and was pretty surprised that it apparently didnt As you know i have not been to training since, due to Bodies recovery and having my baby but no one has been in touch via email or phone which they have. And i have spoken to president, and i believe a mediation officer.
  16. If you read the thread i was asking what is the situation, i asked if it as covered with the club being it was a club training and i had asked the training coordinator, i was told they would look into it. I was told they would speak to the owner, She had let her dogs out of the car, and they had not been restrained at all and would not recall, this is not the first time as i have mentioned before. she has sent an email saying she is thinking of Bodie but not "im sorry my dog has hurt yours"
  17. I was going to say it has been 6 weeks since the incident and she had not spoken to me, it was being dealt with thru the club, i was told they would speak to her as they didnt want things escalating. I recieved an apology pretty much just after i had written my last post saying i had not recieved an apology. As to the facts i was doing a flyball run there were instructors around my dog didnt see him coming even. I dont believe i have ever said there was malicious intent just that this dog has been known to do this previously but until now has not caused injury. Why should i have to bear the full brunt of a incident that was was caused by another dog not being under contol when mine was under control and doing the right thing? if it had been while they were playing or something or he injured himself i would have no issue. but no injury would have happened if the dog who has been known to rush other dogs had been restrained or under control.
  18. do a search on sparty there is a thread i started re shutzhund training the link is on page 3 which should take you dept prim industries web site i think thread was from a few months ago
  19. this is from a thread earlier (hope the link works)
  20. I dont believe it was malicious intent but he has a tendency to charge and hip and shoulder other dogs (aussie shepherd) Bodie is feeling much better thx he is over most of his muscle stiffness now and the hole is healing well here is a pic from the day after the incident a bit hard to get a good pic with him wriggling so much
  21. I started a thread up before asking this question (re dangerous dog) someone posted a link, in the govt website it specifically mentioned dogs trained to bite even if for a "sport" would be considered dangerous, i cant remember the thread but was told when importing the dog it would be best not to advise that she is titled in shutzhund
  22. pics are about week after event so 6 days of healing he was hit side on (t-boned) as he went over a flyball jump which also caused severe bruising up his leg and hip as it flipped him and the jump end over end.
  23. it would depend on the situation, but if your dog is running a course and another dog charges in rolls him and you end up with severe bruising and a toothmark what would you do? If my dog had fallen, run into something or a general misshap np but this happened because of an uncontrolled dog in not saying it was a vicious attack or even intentional but costs have been incured. and i was wondering what the normal process would be.
  24. Hi just a quick question, if an injury occurs in training where a dog is injured (caused by another dog) and requires vet attention how would this be covered? I was under the impression as a club event it would be club but apparently not?? thanks
