Hey Skyes dalimit, how do border collies go? lol i have one who is always nose to the air or ground and some one said to start them young.. LOL just thought i would check as he would stand out with all the labs and GSD doing tracking in our club
-
NO I dont think you are rude, i have a dog who is quite nervous and if some freak ran towards her stomping, even if the dog was next to her or one along it would distress her and put my training back we are not allowed to yell at our dogs even saying no loudly is frowned on during the stays as the instructor explains it is a class and we have to take into account other peoples dogs!! what sort of motivational training can Bodie do or should I just stick with Sparty??
-
Just as a matter of interest, has this behaviour now been adressed or something said??
-
Hey Rhi are you going to be moral support sunday if i come over to work on our flyball skills  if I work with sparty there we will know what to start on at home with the others Kira is a problem, she is not really interested in balls so if you have any ideas how to fix that it would be helpful She is not dog aggressive she just doesn't like them in her face when she cant escape (on lead) after agility she will happily run with the others without any issues

Spikes puppy, the hidden fence link that Kit Kat gave me (3rd post) has a barking coller that can be used in conjunction with the fence , worth a read. in our area there have been sheep maulings and dog shootings so a zappy fence is a lesser evil as far as im concerned. Our dogs stay within our boundries but if we had another that had tendencies to stray i would definately consider the zappy collar as opposed to chaining, a far better option to a bullet or a radiator to the head.

Kit Kat what type do you use?? my friend is having a huge problem containing her GSD they have moved to rural and it has killed a sheep already she has asked for any suggestions as she does not want to destroy it

we are in both trials Kira is in Encouragement mum is considering handling her but i think i will still do one Graeme Eades is the judge i think he is really nice so dont be scared although if he is wearing his floppy hat im stuffed Kira hated it and jumped in the stands last time Where is Finn based?? we were talking to Sharon at the Ballarat trial who has Todd, a full brother to the puppies dad Fluke hey Darcy is like their 1/2 brother!!!! even closer i think as Lilly (their mum) is Jonte's daughter freaky! pups might not come down as it is then 5 dogs overnight at my dads who is not a big dog fan... if it was a single trial or just a day trip it would be cool, as it is Bodie might end up stay home with the puppies yet Jen

Puppies are in puppy preschool so 4 weeks before they are in puppy classes on sundays I might go to flyball after class this week (if you guys are there!!) it is so weird i have two opposite dogs Sparty i have to hype up and get excited, Kira is a nervous twitchy little bitch lol almost have to dose her with rescue remedy before trials!!! i have to totally change the way I handle each one in a major way. you have to set up a puppy run at flyball soon there are so many puppys starting at club lately!!! we could have a interclub tournament!!!
-
LOL well we are coming down to the berwick trial on the 15th I think mum plans on bringing the puppies with us Nat, are you going?
-
Sparty did pretty well last obedience trial, he just isnt excited about it, off lead he was slow off the mark and cut a corner on the figure 8 DOH!! but only missed out by 9 points on a pass but still got 3rd and ahem ahem best ballarat Novice hehe I have to pretty much leave him in the car until 5 mins before his turn or he relaxs too much :shakehead: New pup?? try new puppies!!! we are going over for a play date with our lot tonight for about 30mins should be fun.
-
lol yup I agree!! i was focusing on agility for a while there, but he chooses not to jump over a certain height, now he is veteran in NADAC it shouldnt be an issue anymore just need to work on my fitness LOL i found it very hard to yell tunnel when i couldnt breathe last trial We are going to make a little flyball course at home between Sparty & Bodie (kira has NO interest in the ball at all) and mums new toller puppies we could have our own team in another 12 months hehe!!! will have to scout for a height dog hehe Jen

could be of that age where she is trying to sort out ranking and feels as she is also allowed on the bed she is equal or higher than your son?
-
Hey Dogdayz, I have no problem with dogs going up 2 classes sometimes things just click in your dogs head and it all falls into place my concern was she can just put herself in what ever class she wants to?? you want to be training with other dogs of your own standard, very depressing watching how well someone else (i mean miles ahead not jsut a good day) is doing while your dog is trying to acrobatics and imitating a demon possession on the end of its lead, or your dog behaving and someone with no control bounds into you and messes with your hard work. Also where is the sense of achievement in passing? Jen

I have to question what club this is!! we have testing done maybe once a month usually only dogs the class trainer thinks are ready to be tested even see the assessing person. The only way around that is if you get a pass in novice or encouragement. It annoys me there is politics in something that should be fun and a pleasant experience What is the point of having different levels of classes if people can just pick or choose, just becasue she is a commitee member doesnt mean she is above the rules, IMHO they should know the rules best and lead by example!!!! Jen

our trainer has just been to a seminar yesterday, she suggests as the dog gets past you reverse as if you are doing a recall (shuffle backwards) as the dog gets back to you, start forward (you can step rught a bit to put him on the correct side) by the time he turns around he is back in the heel position we did it in class today some people it worked better for than others but it might help you

sounds good i might come watch see if my pack would be interested
