  1. Dunno this will be my first time too!! unsure of giving bodie a taste for attacking plastic shopping bags tho .... i think he would still be classes as puppy at 8 months old (even tho he is bigger than my bitch!!), how old is darcy now?
  2. just got the email from the lovely people at the ridgeback club today at KCC park, sooooo anyone else going?
  3. can other dog breeds come to the coolie herding workshops?? if we can what do you suggest we teach the dog before coming to get the most benefit from it? Elmore sounds like a nice drive from Ballarat
  4. nice pic's I think i saw instructions in your trick of the month archives, Rhi (clover) said she will help me learn it and i can re-read your instructinos for help at home also
  5. Just a question guys what is your opinion on the herbal "rescue remedy" I have been told it works a treat on dogs, and i have noticed a HUGE change in Kira after 2 drops before training or at a new place as she can be a nervous twitchy wreck otherwise which is kind of weird for such a dominant bitch?? LOL i did it in the dark on wednesday night before trial training and i think she got a few extra drops she was actually greeting other dogs!! not her at all!! she can get snappy if confronted by a pushy dog and usually she stands back and lets Sparty socialize
  6. he may be getting on in year and was distracted but he is giving it a go!
  7. I hear u r racing (soverigns & diggers) in the same division at the championships?? good luck to all u guys anyway LOL i told hubby that if Bodie ever got that good we might be doing that he asked so who is paying for that I said we do, and he said hobbies need to pay for themselves... so we had a long chat about his new 4x4 and how he needed to pull his head in Tell me sparty isnt enjoying himself
  8. no prob lol if nothing else I can be the flyball teams photographer I have given a CD with all the pics i ahve taken at flyball to Melissa to give to Barry, there are a couple of clover too mainly Eureka team but some of soverigns?? the one with Ruby in it

  10. It was a lovely day sunday, my sister went snap happy loves using the camera and i got a few nice ones too lol and a boxer in the crotch too when she missed the ball out of the box
  11. Anyone have suggestions about learning the swimmers turn??
  12. i hope so, as i said it is his second lesson how would you change what he is doing to learn the swimmers turn? we have only been doing this for 2 weeks with bodie and 2 weeks (well apart (3months!!)) with Sparty, so we are beginners. I started this to give a break from agility and they both really seem to love it (ball fanatics!!)
  13. this is Bodie at his second flyball lesson im so proud of him ;) cant wait for him to be old enough to do the jumps
  14. mmm dreaming of a nice indoor arena!!! wet and windy ballarat, tho hubby is making me some agility obstacles for home he is making my flyball jumps and box this week wooo hooo so then it will be wet and windy-er Napoleons thinking of going to the NADAC trial on june 25th it has a touch and go event which sparty loves but we have been too into flyball to do any agility lately
  15. kabana no name strass or best treat of all a tug toy he rarely gets to play with, failing that if he sees me on the ground he cant resist the chance of licking!!
  16. doesnt that now classify it as a dangerous dog.. or is that just in QLD?
  17. At least it is a reasoned better thought out reason than some of te objections you hear
  18. YEARS!!!!!! arrgghhh !!!! my puppy is now 6months old he is very good about not pulling, he was taught to heel from puppy class, obviously the first time you walk without food is fun and games, and having the 2 older dogs ahead made it worse  but we kept up with the change in direction, as he passed me i would turn and go the other way, you dont get very far but e got the idea and when he was in position i would praise him also in class they suggested (and it seemd to work) to start walking backwards as the dog comes around and follows as he gets to you side step a little and step forward so he is on your left and go forward again, repeat until he gets the idea lol this worked pretty well with bodie as in training i had food to reinforce the praise he is a food tart!! but now when we walk (not heeling) he ranges at the end of the lead but doesnt pull or tug
  19. at the risk of getting flamed, have a look at the innotek thread currently being discussed. we ended up running a meter width roll of chicken wire almost horiztontally along the fence line with tent poles to keep it up as kira would sail over the top without any issues, and had been taking sparty with her on her explorations since we moved to 20 acres she no longer wanders..
  20. you just cant please some ppl, and we all know how well the positive only apporach to kids has lowered the crime rates ...... I remember visiting a friend of my mum's, while they were talking her son came up and interupted she said no deal mummys talking, he reached out and slapped her hard on the face to get her attention... i wonder what a mother dog would do to her puppy in a similar situation??
  21. Well we will be there on the 15th entered for morning and arvo, if you cant find the BC's we will ahve a new Collapsable canvas tent thingy we will be trying out we will be in encouragement with Kira in anycase so see u there
  22. Didnt ask, wasnt sure if it was appropriate to at the time, dont think Mum will take the Pups and im thinking of leaving Bodie behind too lol can you imagine my Step mums comments if the first wife's puppies destroy anything while we are there? we will be coming down more now with day trips so we might catch up with you on one of those
  23. Thanks Skes Dalimit, Bodie has his nose down quite a lot which is why i was thinking about it besides with a Lab and 2 tollers in the family now he can branch out from traditional BC things to do, although we might see what he thinks of sheep
