Creative Spelling And Pronunciation For Breeds.

Lousy Aspros Malteeser or Maltese Terrier Foxy Terriers Sydney Silky Terriers (were called this about 100 years ago !!) Blue Healers -
I have cavaliers, and I have had some rescues - bull breeds too. Cavaliers are quite brave, and also foolhardy, they don't seem to understand that another dog may kill them. The rescue pinning the Cavalier is a bad look, imho, and also that he is teaching the Cav to be dog aggressive. A lot of breeds are compatible, but Cavaliers are not compatible with every other breed. They work with my boxers, as long as the boxers are brought up from pups with them, but I would NEVER introduce an adult boxer into our pack. And Cavalier breeders have not been keen on selling me a cavaler to live with boxers. I don't think these two dogs should ever be alone together, and I believe the owner should consider rehoming the larger dog, or there will be tears. It will be too late when the Cav is seriously injured or worse . You may be able to stop the larger dog pinning the Cav - but is he going to be reliable enough to leave alone over years with the Cav? Hard decision when you love both dogs, but consider the welfare of the dogs first, and the worst case scenario.

That's great news. What a little trooper!! I presume she wasn't attacked at a show, so wont be scared, so will wish you very good luck with her. How about a photo? Nothing nicer than a nice chi

Bone Fides make excellent dog mats - with a cushion inside, that and the cover can easily be washed in the machine. Might need to google to see where to buy them from. I paid $44 odd for one which fits the largest crate. Used sleeping bags make excellent dog beds - reasonably thick, and easy to wash - and reasonably priced from the op shop -- ones with busted zips are cheapest

Fontana Couple Convicted In Dog Mauling Of 3 Children
Jed replied to Swiss Girl's topic in In The News
Poor children. Prison seems a good option for the owners. One can only hope some other irresponsible owners take heed. -
Well done!! If everyone did that, things would be different.

C.c.c. Qld's New Breeder Accredited System
Jed replied to Swanbrook's topic in General Dog Discussion
Of course they are in the same group as we all are. There is no option - if you want to register your pups. However, to have an ABS where the members are not checked out is shocking and those breeders who choose to join have chosen bad company. CCCQ should have told the gov that all it's breeders were AOK. But as usual, it's too difficult to stand up for the members. They like the money, but like to sit back, have a cigar and a scotch and take the line of least trouble --- for them. Things will change with democracy. -
Poodlefan Shame you didn't read what I wrote. And what I then enlarged and bolded. I wrote nothing about the police, I then qualified it, and there is still all this meaningless trash going on about ---- nothing. What a total waste of time and energy.

If you report Dodgy Kennels, even if what you have reported is not breaking any rules, your complaint goes into the file. Another person lodges a complaint, and over a period of time there is a record of various things which the member may have done. If any of it is in breach of the rules, something is done by the CC (banned etc) If none of the complaints lodged are breaking any rules, but are a bit dodgy - the file is kept, the member is watched, and "things" are done. I can't say what, but it makes life unpleasant, or impossible, and the member is either more careful, or resigns. Doesn't always happen, but it is worth always complaining.

Hi, Geo, the sign says something like "Permission to enter this property is expressly forbidden. AHC1991". It says nothing whatsoever about dogs. Icould probably find it if I needed to, but a lock also works. If you are interested, I will send you a link to the complete topic. I researched, and counsel's opinion was sought before I posted anything. What I actually posted in this thread was That information was provided to assist owners of bull breed dogs who were faced with illegal entry by council officers, not to argue about whether police could enter or not. And that referred to the thread 6 years ago.

Meant to say ... the breeder said If s/he is not prepared to abide by the code of ethics - which s/he signed off on when s/he joined, she should resign. Why be a member of an organisation, and then ignore the rules?? You are doing the right thing. Don't worry either, if nothing seems to happen. Sometimes the results are not immediate, sometimes they are.

Yes, please do report it, for the good of all decent registered breeders. You can't report to the ANKC, which actually consists of members from each state body. However, you can report it to the Tasmanian Kennel Club. Go to ANKC.com.au - and check for each state. The information on Tasmania will be there. I have presumed the person is in Tasmania/ If not, simply report to the state canine council for the state the person resides in Hope this makes sense - I don't have a good wireless signal, and can't get up the information for you. Thanks for wanting to do something.

I have already provided references to the NSW legislation that enables police to enter properties in that state and in particular in response to incidents of domestic violence. Legislation will trump case law every time unless a court reads it down. No one's calling you a liar Jed. In this case you are simply misinformed. I thought you at least would do the research, Poodlefan! Or at least read my post!! I really don't care who thinks what, I was responding to Tralee's post

The police may enter to issue a warrant. Plenty vs Dillon (High Court, Australia 1991) reinforced Semaynes case - as quite a few court cases over the years have. And there is a sign, which, if attached to the entry gate, legally prevents entry, citing Plenty vs Dillon case as the reason. I have forgotten exactly what it says. That information was provided to assist owners of bull breed dogs who were faced with illegal entry by council officers, not to argue about whether police could enter or not. seriously this is NOT correct. the police can enter a property without a warrant if they have sufficient reason to believe someone is in danger and (i think) if they believe a crime is being committed it is nonsense to suggest a sign would keep them out of a drug lab Seriously, Jaxxs Buddy, can you provide references for your belief? There are results of many court cases which prove what I wrote. Before you call me a liar again, you might like to do your own search? You might also like to re-visit what I actually wrote. And I don't recall saying anything about a drug lab? Troy asked members to keep on topic. Where does a drug lab figure in this story?

Whilst I believe it is worse than appalling that this dog bit someone on the face - at the gate, inside the gate, outside the gate - it makes no difference. There are no excuses, it doesn't matter what the breed is, or that the dog was abused, or sniffing coke, shooting up heroin, or smoking marijuana. Or simply having a bad day. No one should own a dog like that. And I agree the poor dog was probably abused. Tralee is correct about what I said some years ago - rules for entry to property are based on Semaynes case (England) in 1604 - these words are the most important The police may enter to issue a warrant.

PomsNZ is a member here who shows. We have several other NZ members. Perhaps send PomsNZ a private message - via "My Controls" on the top rhs of your screen, and ask her? If she doesn't know, she will know where to go for the information. Or anothe NZ member may be able to help you.

Basic puppy training and how to begin information Housetraining information A couple of pages on characteristics of the breed. Information on vaccines and vaccinating (before their vet tells them their pup must have a C7 and the breeder was very mean to give it only a C3) Basic information on a raw diet I offer to mind pups I bred - if the owners need someone, not just because they are too lousy to pay boarding fees ( I don't quite put it like that though}. I have had a dog back through a divorce, and he then went to live with the wife and kids, one back when grandpa died, and no kennel could take him at such short notice, and other such genuine situations. I include that in writing in the information I supply

Please speak to the breeder, he may have some advice. I would see a specialist vet. I don't think you will get to the bottom of this with blood test . He probably needs a stress test, or holter monitoring. Meanwhile back off on the exercise. Good luck, please let us know what the diagnosis is.

Storm Phobias- At What Point Do You Consider It A Problem?
Jed replied to Cosmolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
Interesting Jed, I'd never thought it serious in terms of breeding but totally see your point. My bitch who had two litters never worried about storms until she was about 6 years old. Then she started wanting to boss the lightning and thunder around - she goes from window to window looking out trying to find the culprit while softly huff'ing. When outside she looks around when a flash or rumble happens but is happy to sit still and doesn't do the faux-barking. Would you call that a fairly serious fault (that showed late)? Doesn't sound as if she is frightened? A couple of the cavs would bark at the first thunderclap, and at the noise of fireworks. As long as they didnt continue, that was ok with me. I wonder whether "frightened of storms" behaviour is inherited, or is passed on because the young dog sees the older one doing it, and reacts to the fear. None of my dogs are particularly worried. That's an interesting one to contemplate - but even the dogs I buy don't seem to worry about storms, so I guess they are picking up the feelings of the rest of the pack. And theoretically, it should work in reverse. I had a BC x which was a total maniac, used to squeeze into a corner somewhere and busily dig up the floor coverings. *sigh*. Chi Chi worries about storms, and if left alone, paces incessantly around the house until it finishes. I bring her inside. She has been there since a pup, so the vibes of the pack have had no effect on her. But - we are not too sure how the brain is....that could be contributing. Hereditary or learned behaviour is an interesting concept to consider. However, I have noticed that all of the pups I have bred have been unconcerned about storms ... the ones I've thought to ask anyhow. -
I would be surprised if names and numbers on voting papers are legal, particularly as the votes are being returned to the council. The names should have been on a separate envelope which was separated from the voting paper, checked against membership lists, and destroyed before counting took place, and I suspect that should happen in an independent place ... ie, auditor etc. to ensure the validity of the count I don't suppose there will be a problem .. unless someone complains (not me, I don't have a problem).

I think you are right there Do you seriously think they would do that. I think you need to wake up and realise that not everyone in the world is out conspiring against you. Believe it or not there are alot of people in the world who don't just think of what is best for them and actually go out of their way to try and do what is best for everyone involved. Actually, I don't think everyone in the world is conspiring against me. And when I do think there is a conspiracy, I am usually correct Over time I have discovered that a lot of people, committees etc are not without agendas and bias, so I take that into accout when making judgments.. It's up to each member to vote as they see fit. We will no doubt find out what is going on later Steve Yeah, by the council.

Wags The ATO will not even consider registering dog breeding as a business, unless the breeder can show substantial income. Breeders on pensions are not required to have business status, and centrelink is not interested in the income from pups which those on pensions breed. If the breeder has another profitable business (grooming etc) dog breeding can be added to that as a business. It is not terribly easy to have any agricultural enterprise (including) dogs, assessed as a business by the ATO. It needs substantial income, business like behaviour, designated premises, etc. Owners of big farms or stations easily get business status, owners of 10 acres growing olives have great difficulty in being accepted by the ATO as a business. Anyone can apply for, and get, an ABN Yes, good manners/common decency would demand that we respond to all enquiries in a timely and polite way, whether we are running a hobby or not. I don't believe dog breeding is an industry - that has terrible connotations for me -- and probably for animal rights too, although I think they view it as an industry already

I think you are right there

I used a dog in 2009. Condition was that I could keep a pup to show and breed with, all others had to be on LR, and as pets only. I had no problem with that. I used a dog under exactly the same conditions in about '85. I have no problem with that. In each case, there was no contract, just a verbal agreement.

Ah, ML, if you vote "yes", you get to chuck 'em out after 2 years, and get the councillors you wanted and they can amend the constitution!!
