Yes,teeth could be the problem.
-
Doesn't sound good. Difficult to diagnose without seeing the pup. Perhaps some mouth problem - teeth? Roof of mouth? Ulcers? Something wrong with his tongue? Maybe he has an infection? Or something wrong with him? Temperature? Gum colour? Worms? Intestinal problems? Oh, there are all sorts of choices. I think maybe a problem with his mouth etc though. I would take him to the vet, and I would put him on something like Nutridrops (not nutrigel) to encourage him. Good luck

So what is your definition of a "puppy farm" or "puppy factory"? If a show judge has 50 Golden Retrievers is he a puppy farmer? or is he factory farming dogs? Labelling - ie, puppy farms, byb - is something that animal rights introduced in America about 20 years ago to divide dog breeders so they would turn against each other. A puppy farm is where dogs are bred as agricultural animals. It doesn't matter whether is is filthy or antiseptic, doesn't matter about anything else. I would suggest that anyone who mass breeds dogs is a puppy farmer --- but I know people with 50 bitches (mostly in the "old" days) who did it right. Staff, lots of time spent with the dogs, dogs taken out to training, or to shows, on walks and allowed to run about the property with the owner as a pack. And the pups produced were lovely sociable animals, because the bitches were happy and the pups were socialised Betya gumboots the current mass breeding establishments don't do any of those things. The ones I see provide no social experiences for the dogs or pups at all. Just suffering and misery. 30 years ago, no vet would believe that small animals (ie dogs) felt pain and although they would anaethetise an animal, they would never offer pain relief, and if you asked, they were astonished. It is not well recognised that dogs have psychological requirements. Every scientific study which is done proves more conclusively that there is x facet to dogs --- which switched on owners and breeders always knew. Miserable and badly treated bitches don't raise top class pups, unsocialised pups do not turn out as good as they could be People who live with parent dogs are much less likely to breed ratbags to each other. In mass breeding establishments, no one has any idea what the temperament or personality of the breeding dogs are. How would they? They are rarely handled, and no one has to live with them. If they are the bad barkers from hell, no one knows, or cares, so they mate them. Why have 4th or 5th rate, and support a despicable practice, when you could have 1st rate, or a rescue at a much lesser price?

People like that with poor nerves should not be in policing. I do hope his employers will find him something else. This type of work doesn't seem to suit him. And I do hope the owner of the dog sues. It wont bring back the dog, but it will make him feel better, and hopefull, he will get enough for another dog. I think it is a bit poor that they didn't offer that.

I have the invisible e fence made by Innotek. Where the wire for the fence is on or in the ground, and the dog wears a collar, and receives a signal from the fence. I haven't used it for years, but it did work well. Once the dog was trained, it never crossed the line.

Liverchips Dogs are not agricultural animals. Dogs are pets, workers, companions. Dogs may be bred in large establishments, but no matter how many ponds, pools, sand pits, or gardener recommendations they may have the basic philosophy is totally flawed. You can breed cows and pigs and sheep like that, because you are going to eat them, not play with them. Dogs from those places are sometimes ok, but often not. When people buy them, they have no idea what the pup will turn into. I notice that the dogs which are bred in these establishments are the "easy" breeds, it doesn't matter if you abuse them, they probably wont attack you. And they are being abused. Additionally, the only reason anyone would keep multiple dogs like that is M O N E Y. It seems to me that to breed dogs like that is not very ethical, but an excellent way of making a lot of money. Burke may recommend it, but what does he know of dogs? He is a gardener. He doesn't even know enough to know it is just wrong ... and if he does, he doesn't care, because he is making money. And he is bashing the ANKC which has always been his motive, according to what he said years ago. Additionally, the parent dogs come from dodgy sources - other puppy farms, pet shops, markets, stolen, from classified ads for giveaway purebreds, by people who bought a pet and couldn't persist with it. Surely none of these places are a good source of breeding dogs. There is a psychological component to breeding good pups, and puppy farms can't provide it. You wouldn't breed the pony down the road to the baker's horse and expect Black Caviar. Why do people expect a good pet when bred from 4th rate stock kept in misery bred by people whose only interest is the income? And every time someone buys one of these oodly pups, they are condeming yet more harmless little dogs to lives of utter misery, with insufficient human contact. And being kept in a cage with messy eyes isn't the only horror. Being kept with other dogs with insufficient human interaction, not going anywhere off the place, being given rudimentary grooming and care, and being put down when you can't breed any more isn't very appealing either. No one who is right minded could possibly think this is the right way to breed dogs. No one who is informed and right minded could possibly think this is the place to buy a family pet, or an obedience prospect, or a tracker from.

As a breeder I want the best possible homes for my pups. Part time homes just don't cut it. If there was someone else at home, and the dog could stay at home ... fine. Single person, fifo, no. Boarding kennel doesn't cut it with me as a part time home. For a whole lot of reasons. I think it is selfish and inconsiderate for this person to even be considering buying a pup - and particularly not disclosing to the breeder.

Cavalier Rescue will take him, and because they know Cavaliers, they find them the right homes where they are happy and settled for life. Contact them. Some of the other rescue groups fight to take them because of the dollars they fetch, but sometimes they do not home them responsibly.

Babes and toddlers run over in their own yards make the news often enough. I wonder if there are as many toddlers run over as children bitten by dogs? Efficient and adequate parental supervision would drastically reduce all damage to little kids. Drownings, runnings over, dog bites, wandering off and becoming lost.

It is an Egyptian Retriever. The council will accept that one. Or a Mountain Hunting Dog, or a Lowland Spaniel. Or a Lakeland Hurrier. Take your pick. From those photos, there is no dominate breed, and the dog could be 6 generations away from any pure breed. It doesn't matter. When breeds are crossed, anything can and does happen, and you are out of known territory, so there is no point in wondering what breeds are involved. The dog becomes an individual -- the only one like it, and you have to work with what you have.

Unfortunately, it is all smoke and mirrors, rumour and innuendo, begun by animal rights as part of their campaign to remove pet dogs yet people believe it. It is happening everywhere. Because no one withe purebred dogs believes it - except older people - no one does anything. http://naiaonline.org/articles/article/guilt-purebred-dog-owners-can-play#.T7BiPJbc8N3.facebook The NAIA is actually doing something about this. The new president of the AKC made a wonderful inaugural speech recently, and if he can achieve his aims, things may improve. This article is very long but worth reading for anyone with an interest in the future of purebred dogs .. if anyone thinks they have a future. :)

The Gardener At It Again On His Website
Jed replied to Blakbelgian's topic in General Dog Discussion
The worst thing he has done, in my opinion, in telling the public they should have one of those designer nightmares, is condemn generations of poor little harmless dogs to lifetimes of utter and absolute misery in filthy puppy farms. And he did it because he had a fight with the ANKC. He did offer we registered breeders another association to replace the ANKC, and because we refused, he has jumped into bed with the AABBCCdoodleys. A bus full of oodles is far too good a fate for him. What he has done has made no difference to me as a registered breeder. What it has affected is the public who bought an oodle believing what Burke said, found it was incorrect, and diced the poor little dog. And, as above, more and more poor little dogs suffering all their lives. -
fantastic news, Loraine, I have been thinking you needed a dog. I know it will be a hyge success. And new pups beat "pregnant" hands down!!

There is a petition circulating to stop this.

buddy1 I mentioned earlier that it doesn't matter whether she is a business of not. Dept of Fair Trading may not be able to get her to cough up, but the magistrate's court (or whatever they call it now), will. If she wont refund, toddle along to the courthouse, fix up the papers. Doesn't need to be a business to go to the magistrates court. Easy as pie. What she is doing IS illegal. Please don't let her get away with it. It shames all decent breeders. And shame on Fair Trading, who are supposed to be there to HELP you, but have not told you how to get some money back from this absolute grub, who obviously is the crook of the year, or knows sfa about dogs and breeding them. People like this should be stopped from breeding dogs. No wonder people go to pet shops. And she has probably been doing it for years because the Dept of Fair Trading was too lazy to tell people what they could do to get some redress. I hope, after you have been to the courthouse, you will write to the CCCQ and tell them all about this person. The reason why things like this go on is because not enough people did something about it. Would you like to buy my car? I want $20,000 for it. It is a beautiful car. It doesn't go at the moment, but I am sure it will go in the future, after you have bought it.

Unregistered Breeder Using Registered Breeder's Dog At Stud
Jed replied to Leema's topic in Breeders Community
I hope you report to dogsqld them every single time an advertisement appears? They can't stop it if they don't know about it. Please report. -
That is probably technically correct, but you can go to the magistrate's court, and ask for assistance to fill out the correct form. You say what you want on the form, and the breeder will be served with a notice to front up. She will probably pay up then. If not, the matter will go the mediation, and I think you have a good case. It costs more than $30,but it is under $100. I have no idea what is wrong with fair trading. Maybe they are telling you THEY wont do it themselves, and you will have to. And dogs are treated as goods under fair trading, and the same rules apply. Good luck!! People like this give decent and ethical breeders a bad name, and the buggers increase every year, they are prolific.

Mantis, is that you? Or has an unknown entity taken possession of your body?? Mantis, are you in there? Do you need help? Excorcism? Pretty cute!! :)

On Line Pets Remember the puppy farms. There are some ok byb out there, it is only labelling, after all, but a puppy farm is a puppy farm is a pu.......... A purebred is the result of the mating of two purebred animals of the same breed. So labradoodles and what have yous don't cut it because their parents are not the same breed. The only papers which are important are the certified registration papers from the registering society and in 99.0% of pups, that would be the ANKC.

Issy, that is a good breeder. No one can guarantee much with an animal. And often these problems aren't hereditary, they are just bad luck. Bad stuff happens sometimes, it is what the breeder does then which differentiates.
