It is ok for you to share the video on this forum, with thousands of users, but not ok for me to share it on my facebook site, with a couple of hundred, all animal lovers? Pleased you told me. I wouldn't want to do anything wrong.

Too many conformation faults. He shouldn't be pullling anything, it is really hard for him. Edited to add: Look at the dog's body language. Horrible.

I know it is not all fact. But some of it is. Did you read the site, or only the first two or three posts?

And your problem is .........?

Specialist. Too important not to go. I thought perhaps dry eye. The vet needs to test for it - which is neither difficult or expensive - instead of the look and guess method. One of my dogs had dry eye and was producing lots of tears to try to lubricate the eye. Good luck with it. Sounds very frustrating.

Dangers Of Vaccinating Small To Medium Dogs.
Jed replied to luvsdogs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Jean Dodds (vaccinatinon guru) recommends the booster one year after the puppy shots and then titre testing after that. I would get the booster or at least titre test the dog. Even with the lepto component? My dog is also sensitive to chicken and beef which is why I have been delaying the injection- what if I make him worse? But still thinking about it. You are not forced to give the dog a C5 with lepto. You can request a C3 or a C4. If your vet wont do it, go to someone else who will. Lepto is probably not a problem south of Mackay - but giving the vaccination is important. C3 or C4 should do it. Jumabaar Love Dr BEcker though I do, I feel she may be a little biased about vacs. I think Jean Dodd, Bob Rogers in Texas, or Catherine O'Driscoll, who is a holistic vet, are more reasoned. dancinbcs It seems some vaccinosis diagnoses are incorrect, but there are plenty of other diagnoses which are correct. Some problems have no explanation, but when you note there have been a lot of similar problems after vac. that is what you suspect. -
Last time I was in the Hawksbury, it wasn't in Victoria... Huh? Also, police wont confirm fight rings, because as soon as the fighters think someone is on to them, they move camp, and then they are harder to catch. Does't really matter - believe or not; your choice. Not worth arguing about.

There are quite a few posted on facebook ..... and whilst I believe that some numbnuts would make it up, I don't think it is all fake. There is a fighting ring about 20k from here. Local dogs - specially staffy types - are disappearing from locked back yards at an all time high. I doubt that people would put fake notices on the shop notice board ---- not that number anyway. Years ago, there was one at Dalby --- "everyone" knew, including the police, but they couldn't get enough hard info to go and find it for nearly 12 months. And prior to that, dogs disappeared. One disappeared from behind a board fence. Two boards had been jimmied off. The cat population on a suburb was dropping, dropping, dropping, since a Chinese restaurant moved in. Everyone thought it was a joke until the Council found 20 cats in the freezer. Made the front page of the paper ...... as it would. You can believe that all lost dogs wandered away, or the people who posted photos and phoney phone numbers were all froot loops, but I think, on consideration, that I will continue to believe that some of these dogs are stolen. People on the south side of Bris have posted the stolen dog thing but with the reg. number and type of car. How far can a scam go? A lot of these dogs disappear from secure yards. Some here are purebred staffies and amstaffs (the minority)> Whilst I do believe that fluffy dogs are stolen because (a) the thief wants one or (b) he plans to sell it for a few bucks to someone, and some wander off some are stolen for bait. Keep your minds open :)

Dog, dingo, wild dog. I would speak to the neighbours.

Note for the police ..... dog fights are not conducted under a light in the main street. Dogs fights are conducted in secret and difficult to find locations with only those interested and "safe" advised how to get there. I get heaps of notifications of dogs being stolen on facebook and when there is a photo, and a phone no. I doubt it is a hoax. The shop where I live always has brochures on the notice board about stolen/lost staffies/x staffies/bull arabs and big boofy bitsas. Dogs are being stolen for dog fights. For bait, or for potential fight dogs.

In some shires in Vic the pup must be desexed. Frankston for 1. In Dingley, if you don't want to desex the dog you can join Vicdogs (lots of money for Vicdogs) providing the pup is purebred. I wonder if these laws are actually legal. Dr. Harry Corbett is fighting Frankston re the desexing laws.

Hi, Boxbright, the white mask is fine, although a little off centre. If her head/conformation is good enough, she will be ok in the ring. Did you buy from the people Stewart recommended? Looks like a nice puppy anyhow. The only reason people like" flashy" boxers in the ring is that the combination of colours catches the judges' eye. Having a white collar, or some white on the back of the neck is ok, but it is not that important. However, there are plenty of dogs without any white successfully showing.

I used to have both hot and cold water running to a tap above the dog bath (not hydrobath) - the plumber simply cut into the nearest water pipe. The most convenient spot was outside the laundry so that worked well. This would depend on your plumber, and the distance for existing water, but I just had a quote of $200 to to it again.

I couldn't comment on her site, so I shared the video to mine, with some very unkind comments! Fat cow. Poor pony was trying to buck her off but couldn't do it. Tempus Fugit - surely not? The lengths people will go to to denigrate themselves is amazing.

google vaccinosis A few vaccines are a lot for a tiny toy breed. Many breeders don't vac chihuahuas till 12 weeks+ -
King Charles Cavalier- Good For Families?
Jed replied to dappledgrey's topic in General Dog Discussion
They are not usually crazy, nor do they nip. Usually full of life and fun as pups but are happy to watch TV without having their legs run off. If yours is pedigree his behaviour is a bit off standard. -
King Charles Cavalier- Good For Families?

Incidence of SM in Aust is 2%. If the parents score well on scans that is no guarantee that the pup does not have SM, nor that it will not get SM. Consequently few breeders are testing for SM. If you are seeking one which is heart and eye clear with with good SM tests be prepared for a wait for a year or three. Apart from that they are very gentle and obliging dogs, but I would not guarantee them with a bunny, they are a "sporting spaniel" :) -
There are some great people at AEC, and I am sure you wont have any problems making friends with some of them, they are so nice and welcoming. Good luck :) And if you love emergency work, you will fit right in.

Corvus, this is the second thread in which I have requested you verify some comment you have made regarding purebred dogs. Once again you have not answered. If you do not know why you make statements, please do not make them on the forum. Thanks.

Oh - that article is quite correct. The bit about HSUS and PETA is the big problem. Fortunately, at last the CCs are beginning to grasp the nettle, too little, too late, but better than nothing. At the ekka, you will be able to talk to a non-showing breeder about the breed you fancy and you will be able to buy a DQ show bag. I think this is a step in the right direction re marketing. You can hardly move in the dog section because the public is everywhere. Incidentally, I charge less for my pups than pet shops, but more than byb. But then, the dogs I breed don't die of kidney failure within 10 days of purchase, or heart failure within 3 months. And I guarantee them against hereditary defects anyhow. You get what you pay for in dogs. Edited to add - most of the people posting in this thread are not breeders. Not that that is a problem. Just saying it is not representative of breeders' opinions.

Do you want to explain, with results of proper scientific research, what is the problem with line breeding? "Popular sires" is rather a myth in any case. If a dog is popular, his get are generally outcrossed, and continue to be outcrossed. Moosemum - have you read those ANKC rules you denigrate? What is it about them which you think causes problems? I have been breeding for a long time, and I have absolutely no interest in cross breeding dogs - which is exactly how my ethical peers feel. A pedigree is only a tool for the breeder, and it is a proof of ancestry for the owner. Reading the pedigree and working from there on any matings is crucial. Of course "the public" should have purebred pedigree dogs. They should not be exclusive to anyone. Dogs are workers, herders, hunters and pets. I feel great pride when I send off a potential champion with a little girl, or an older lady. I love it when they phone me to say that everytime they take the dog out anywhere, people stop them to admire the dog. I like it when their vets tell them it is a beautiful healthy dog. I have done my job. Problem with this is that there are not enough pedigree dogs to go around. People began buying FujitsuxMaltesers because they couldn't get the purebreds. 200 maltese were bred Australia wide last year and not many more shih tzu. I have "middle of the road" breeds - I am not a big time breeder - or a hugely winning exhibitor - but I receive 2 to 6 times more enquiry than I have pups available Ethical breeders need to breed more pups before the marketing begins - and they wont do that because AR told them 20 years ago it was very norty to breed unless they wanted to keep something, and they would be puppy farmers.

The mask must be black....except where it is covered by white. The adult brindle on the left has a black mask. She has a white chin, paws and chest. The pup is also a brindle - but he has a white mask. If you look carefully, you will see that the black mask persists on each side of the white .... it is a bit hard to see on a brindle. The third photo is a red dog, with a white mask - not as big as the brindle one. You can see the black mask very clearly, and that it is covered by white. I hope this helps, and of course Trinabean is correct ... I just think that photos help. Very difficult to buy a show quality pup. And you need one with markings similar to the brindle pup - or a little less white, but some white on the face. Here is a link to a boxer website which explains the standard, and also has some photos from boxers around the world. http://worldwideboxer.com/PAGE2.html

Boxers are as hyper as you allow them to be. A little training gives you a lady or a gentleman --- and they are not high exercise. A boxer is as happy to spend an hour with you, as an hour of exercise. If he thinks he needs exercise, he will organise his own. Not for everyone
-
You find someone who shows, and does well, and you order a show quality pup - they are called "show potential" You also look interstate. Then you get on a boxer site on facebook, and look at the photos of the winning/dogs pups. that should get your "eye in". You hope that your breeder will mentor you So easy these days; once you had to check on books, and go to the show to see them. Someone I know had some lovely show quality pups for sale .... and no show homes, so they all went as pets. Shame. PS - You have read the standard and don't understand it? You need an extention of the standard, which explains in more detail. I shall see what I can find. And post it here for you. It may take a bit of time
