Vet has just been and is quite impressed on how strong the pups are and mum is resting comfortably after her big day!
-

Well I was right and did have a sleepless night, managed 1hr, Melodie was very restless and kept wanting to go outside and have her babies in the nice sandy hole she had dug Eventually at 4:30am she had her first pup and at 10:15am she had her last! 10 in total 4 girls and 6 boys, I had to leave the hubby to play midwife as I was let down by my staff and had to go into work He did a stirling job! Still waiting for the vet to come do his check but they all look healthy and are feeding well!

OMG underfoot she looks like she will explode!! Melodies temp went down to 37 degrees this morning so we are just waiting now... I doubt I will get much tonight!
-
Here she is photo taken on Thursday! I have clipped her back end so its not so messy, that why she looks a bit weird :D Yes I was up and down checking on her last night and we have a full weekend with out to dinner tonight and horse breed show tomorrow!!
-
Well looks like Melodie is going to go sooner that I expected..temp is down to 37.8 so I would say Sunday or Monday babies
-
I use Kelp but I mix it in with the BARF mix when I make it up..haven't noticed that it changes in anyway. The only thing that changes is the Chia Seed, it goes like frog sporn when it gets wet!

We have just over a week to go Poor girl with these 40-42 degree days we have been having she hasn't moved far from the aircon :D Mind you neither have I :p
-
Well I am glad Melodie is not the only one that eats dirt thanks everyone for your helpfull replies :D
-
yep just looked at the BOM site and we are in for a bit of weather me thinks!! Hasn't rained in Wattle Grove yet but is getting very grey and maybe a little cooler. Peeked at 42.6 here ugh

She does get a variety of marrow, brisket etc as well as chicken I think her diet is well balanced but am happy to hear of other dogs doing a similar thing :) I won't be giving extra calcuim at this stage anyway ;) She is the only one that I have seen eat dirt my other two as far as I know don't, they eat grass and just about anything else around :D
-
opps forgot to add that she gets chicken/turkey necks wings legs, carcasses as well and the mince is from Lenards which is made up of carcass and leftover chicken bits so that is the calcium source. Good idea about getting the soil tested :) I was also thinking of getting her bloods done.
-
Thats what I was thinking.. She is fed BARF, I make it up myself with chicken/beef mince kidney, heart, brains, liver, vits a,c,b, faxseed oil, yogurt eggs, lots of green vegetables and fruit, codliver oil, kelp, chai seeds and honey.. at the moment it is more protien and starch and less vege as she is week 7.5.So I don't know what I am missing as I thought that would just about cover everything. she looks in A1 condtion and is bright eyed and bushy tailed :D

I have a bitch she is due to welp on the 7/2 and she digs down and eats the clay or sand (was licking up the river sand in the areana)... she will even do this when she is'nt in welp. She is on a balanced diet of raw food and meaty bones, chicken/turkey etc, so would it be habit or is she lacking something?? She looks to be in perfect health at (7 1.2) shiny coat clear eyes not signs of athritc issues ect so has me stumped Any suggestions as to why she does it? So far perfect pregnacy and is a very good weight.

Ahhh BB you forgot to add the FCR to your list :D

Hi everyone, I have a litter of Flat Coated Retrievers due on the 7th Feb :D
-
Welcome Hawksdale! For agility training near you, there is a club that does agility at Cloverdale, another at Bassendean (Perth training obedience club) also two clubs do it at Canine Grounds in Southern River (Agility Club of WA and Southern River Agility & Obedience Dog Club) We have a Flattie at ACWA and she has recently started competing in agility :D Same lady that MG mentioned Thanks Ampie :) I will look into it, I am aiming to get Rumours title this year (inbetween horse shows!!) and be selfish and make 2012 my year not everyone elses :)
-
hi Hawksdale! How old are your retrievers? Do you do any sport with them? :) HI Weasel, I am hoping to do some agility with my youngest girl (20mth) and maybe my boy (4) if my daughter wants to go, just not sure where to start looking though. :)
