My $1000 is way off , it's more like $1500. I could afford another mortgage
-
I don;t have a breakdown but I estimate it would be about $1000 a month, it could even be more

Harper is a young pup and a dog bred to be a companion. Quite frankly this "alpha" stuff is bullcrap. He's a young pup that needs to establish a routine and feel secure within his environment. He cries and howls because he's insecure or lonely.

Dog Not Wanting To Eat
WreckitWhippet replied to whiskedaway's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Trying to force her to eat isn't go to help your situation. It's quite likely that he growth spurts have now slowed down and she doesn't require the energy and amount of food she did as a growing baby. Cut her food down to 1/2 of what it was per meal and see how she goes on that. Give her a smaller amount and give her the 10-15 minutes to eat it. If she's still on two meals, cut it back to one a day. -
Neighbors Dog - What Would You Do?
WreckitWhippet replied to JulesP's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd catch it and take it to the pound. -
I think what some people are trying to say is a well loved pet that goes missing can very likely look like a flea infested unhealthy stray in a very short amount of time. It may appear scared or timid because it is frightened rather than abused... Yep and some breeds are very wary of strangers, some of the Sighthounds in particular would look neglected within a couple of days and would act like they have been bashed all of their lives.

Poo Consistencies Have Changed, Why?
WreckitWhippet replied to ezzag77's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
puppies need to be wormed at 2,4,6,8,10 & 12 weeks. I then do them a month after and then go to every three months. -
There have been plenty of animals surrendered to rescue, when they had no legal right to do so... But hey, as long as the neglected puppy or kitty is safe, that's all that matters
-
Don't apologise on my behalf, threads where people steal the animals of others and fail to follow the applicable legislation, always end up this way

That's them. I don;t know what made me think k9, maybe it was because he came up in discussion during the shoot. It was a nice collar the dog had on
-
You can buy dog collars with the name and phone number on them. I did a photoshoot for a DOLer who had one. I have a feeling it may have been a K9 Pro collar

does it matter ? the poor woman is dead and possibly killed by one of the family pets. It matters a great deal to other APBT owners and there dogs if as usual the breed is being wrongly accused . The owner has said what breed his dogs were and not to blame the breed. Read the articles

What Does Aapdb Stand For?
WreckitWhippet replied to rastus_froggy's topic in General Dog Discussion
It stands for a group of puppy farmers. Quite famous in our local area, headed by a vet and one of the fellow "breeders" ( that should read puppy farmers ) is a local vet nurse, you'd probably know them and bring to you such delights as "Juggles". -
Tell that to the number of DOLers who have come home to a dead dog Dogs that live and play together in packs, are also in danger if they wear collars, they can get their teeth stuck in them playing, that is also not nice to sort out. ETA: my dogs do not wear collars for those reasons and if one were to get out, you would have NO right to keep it or dispose of it in any way, other than to the pound.

You won;t be at the top of the puppy list

Not sure if I should laugh or cry.

If people did something , when they first noticed a stray animal, that being call the ranger or capture it and take it to a pound, then there's some hope they will be reunited with their owners. I hope to Dog my Whippet or Italian Greyhound never escape the yard, both would lose weight in the space of a day and act like someone has flogged them all of their life and in the do-gooders eyes, that would equal abuse and neglect and I'd be unlikely to find them.
-
I just love how people assume that stray cats and dogs are infact stray. They assume that all flea ridden, skinny animals are neglected. There was recently the assumption that a dog that had been hit by a car, had falled from a ute and that the owner didn't deserve it. Owners wonder why, when their dogs and cats go missing, they are unable to find them. The answer is because some do-gooder picks them up, makes an assumption and decides to keep it, or hands it over to "rescue" when they have no right to do so.
-
Awesome, another animal destined to be kept, rather than possibly being reunited with it's owner... but hey, it's rather typical of what goes on and I just hope that one day a treasured member of your family doesn't go missing.

Oscars law rears it's ugly head yet again....
-
Take it to the pound or the RSPCA, if the kitten has an owner, they have every right to claim it and the owner is not going to find it, while it's curled up in your house.

How Many Litters A Year Do You Think
WreckitWhippet replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
what a load of codswallop. yep, the pounds are not full of pedigree registered dogs. They are bred in the minority and dumped in even smaller numbers. Pounds of full of cross bred mutts and poor examples of breeds, they've been purchased in haste, have failed to meet expectations and are no longer wanted. People looking for a pedigree registered dogs are not generally looking for a "rescue" and to say that reducing the number of pups bred, would mean pound mutts would find a home, is ridiculous. Reducing the number of pups bred by ethical registered breeders, would see more dogs dumped, due to poor choices on the buyers part, a lack of buyer education on the breeders part and once again, failure to meet expectations. We should be encouraging the ethical registered breeders to have as many litters as they feel confident they can whelp and find appropriate homes for, not using emotional black mail and guilt tripping, PETA style. -

As many as they like, providing they don't cut corners and sacrafice qaulity. I'd rather see the great breeders producing many puppies.
