  1. Apart from calling the council, she also needs to put what happened in writing.
  2. well if his father is pure with papers, that makes him an American Staffordshire Terrier Cross.
  3. There will be no gauarantee when it comes to temperament, certainly no gauarantees when it comes to health checks for the parents. I doubt he'll get any beeeder support, especially if it all goes to hell in a hand basket. If he buys from a reputable breeder he will get, a guarantee that the pup is pedigree. He can possibly view one or both parents and make sure that the temperaments are what they should be. He will be breeder support. The breeder will match the pup to their family and lifestyle. The breeder will be able to tell your brother what to expect as the puppy grows and matures.
  4. Why talk about the " positve side " of the breed at all ? every time we enter into the "pitt bull " debate, we lose the opportunity to educate the community. The issue is always going to remain polarized and debating the good v' bad , has been done to death.
  5. I'd say you were ripped off and unless you purchased your dog from an ANKC registered breeder, your dog could be anything. How did you miss the " BUYER BEWARE " warnings that are plastered all over Amstaff breeders websites ?
  6. Nope because put simply, local government cannot enforce the most basic laws that we already have. When councils can get people to comply with chipping, rego, leash laws and owners picking up their dog shit, then come and talk to me about a dog licence
  7. I've maintained from year dot that some ABPT fanciers are the breeds worst enemies. They simply cannot seem to fathom that they are part of the breed's "reputation problems". I agree with you 100%
  8. Oh God that made me cringe. That video does the breed no favours with it's heavy metal, head banging music and proving just how powerful and tenacious bull breeds are. The small handful of clips showing Pits doing obedience are good but the rest I couldn't even finish it the bogan music was grinding in to my brain. Same.
  9. Are you serious... Yep. Lots of salt, wind , sand , breeze and water... makes for less chance of disease Providing dogs are allowed on the beach, I really can't think of anywhere better
  10. I would be thinking that the beach is probably one of the safest places to socialise a puppy and walk it.
  11. How's your Whippet going and what did you find worked for it ?
  12. No problems here, I'm very happy with the palatability and the results and now it's Australian made (where we live ) it's even better.
  13. If you are in Darwin, I'm pretty sure there is show training classes available and one of the people that intructs exhibits Staffords.
  14. Whippets would probably be the exception, mine and others that I know recall but you need to put the work in.
  15. and that is what we need - nothing emotive, no fingerpointing, no us versus them, and it takes away a huge chunk of the problem. Instead of puppies, with the right advice, training and suitable backup petshops could be used as one point of contact for putting people in contact with, and learning about available dogs in rescue. there's already shops who do this, petstock is one and another is petbarn formerly was pets at home. not enough of them do this. We do not sell pets and we point anyone looking for a dog in the direction of the DOL breeder listing or we give personal recommendations for breeders.
  16. He ticks two of the boxes, those being young and entire. I wonder if he did life the life of a family pet or on a chain.
  17. I wonder when it will occur to folk that if dogs are responsibly bred, placed in the right homes and socialised and trained right, there won't be any dogs IN rescue. If people want pups, and not adult dogs, responsible purebred breeders are IMO a better source than rescue. Exactly but then again with the likes of "Oscars Law" in operation, there will be even less of us, with even less puppies to go round
  18. and that is what we need - nothing emotive, no fingerpointing, no us versus them, and it takes away a huge chunk of the problem. Instead of puppies, with the right advice, training and suitable backup petshops could be used as one point of contact for putting people in contact with, and learning about available dogs in rescue. Not everyone wants a "rescue" dog
  19. Oscars Law, is not one of those doing a great job
  20. Nup, I'd hate to see my total if I included that
  21. There's your reasons why NOT to do it. Speak to your breeder as well, I know if I bred the dog with all due care and a vet proposed that, I'd be livid.
  22. Any one want to take bets on the solutions they come up with ? - no breeders on the "task force " and they recognise the rights of companion animals. Good luck with that. That task force was the reult of the Clover Moore propose legislation not getting through, was it not ? My crystal ball can predict the outcomes of this one and it's not looking pretty for the registered breeders. I have an idea for the taskforce to implement and then investigate. Let's find out just where these animals are coming from and then finally, we might be able to do something that targets the right area....
  23. The info on purebred/pedigree dogs is easily accessible. Google purebred or pedigree dogs and it's all there. ETA: if they can't spell either of the above then a simple "dog breeders" will suffice .
  24. It's the not the pedigree registered dogs that are being euth's in large numbers... Further promoting pedigree dogs from ethical breeders, isn't going to reduce the number of dogs being PTS. We cannot produce enough quality dogs as it is, promoting them will just make our waiting lists longer. We can talk to people wanting pups til we are blue in the face, we can speak or the attrocities of puppy farms and what they registered breeder can offer, in terms of support and a quality puppy. It's going to have no impact, if we cannot supply the potential buyers with a puppy. I have a website, show my dogs, race my dogs, talk to people in the street and the dogs are a wlaking advertisement for well bred pedigree animals. There's not much more to be done.
