Bitch In Whelp - Placed Away From Home
WreckitWhippet replied to twoblackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
The Owners are very responsible and In no way did I mean for it to come across that way. I haven't as yet discussed with them what they would like to do. They have been more than generous in allowing me to borrow this Dog purely for the Companionship of my Older Dog. They did make it clear to me when I took her on their plan for the near future. I have even gone to the effort of Training this Dog at Obedience classes, Taken it to Retrieving Trials and shown it whilst it has been with me (All because I have wanted too and the Breeders are grateful for the exposure she is getting to different environments). That's all well and good, whilst she's not in whelp. Breeders send dogs and bitches to others all the time but once she's mated, it's a whole different ball game and training and obedience isn't going to help you or her. -
Bitch In Whelp - Placed Away From Home
WreckitWhippet replied to twoblackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you;ve never whelped a litter before, do not have a decent set up for the bitch and pups and are not prepared to possibly stay up 24/7 for days on end, lose the pups and possibly the bitch. Then I'd be sending her home ASAP after mating. There's a million and one things that can go wrong and do go wrong and if they did, you can bet your bottom dollar, the owner of the bitch would hold you responsible. ETA: the more I think about it, the more irresponsible the owner of the bicth sounds. Who in their right mind would let a bitch go to someone without any experience. -
The council and rangers are not going to get involved in what is now a "property" dispute. If she wants the dogs back, she's going to need to pay a solicitor to act on her behalf, have lots of $$ to throw at them and be prepared for follow it through.

Another Brand Of Dog Food "rotations"

The OP is asking for an opinion on the food, not a lesson is buying Australian from someone who supplies dog food -
With This Bsl Crackdown That's Predicted ...

The only time I'd put my dog in the ranger firing line, would be if I lived in NSW and strongly believed that a dog I owned was not a Pit Bull and would pass the temperament test. NSW has an out , in the form of breed ID and the subsequent temp test, if found to be a restricted breed cross. Mind you, NSW has passed many a suspected dog as a cross breed, based on decent temperament at the time of breed ID. No way in hell would I be asking for a rangers opinion, where the council is the judge and jury. -

Time to get a new tack box. In the past I've been happy with my tool boxes, but at that time I also had a trolley basket to stand the bottles in. This time around I want the ultimate tack box. One that can hold all of the spray bottles , standing up. I put LOTS of crap in my tack box, in the hope that I don't have to return to the car of trailer for anything. Ideas ????

agree. When you are paying for a stud, you are paying for the service. Providing the dog is fertile, once her serves her, his done his job.

sad but true

mines from a repitle place too. I have a couple. One for winter and one for summer pups

The poor lady Interesting that the cross bred from the attack on the child is now a " Pitt Bull Mastiff "

I'm waiting for the old " but people bring their kids " chestnut, to be dragged out

The old model. I've since built another two and added a drop down clear plastic sheet, so the heat stays in and I can be lazy and peak in. The front unbolts and the pups can walk in and out, as they get older. The pig rails had been taken out in this pic.

I can't, bacteria doesn't magically jump from the dog to someone's plate or mug. The more people learn about what sort of things are a more realistic danger to food safety the better IMO. In reality dogs are no more of a food hygiene risk than anything else that abounds around eateries, but because of the misguided perception that they are dirty or whatever most places would rather get rid of the dog than argue with people who know nothing about microbiology or food safety. I didn't say anything about bacteria. I merely said that some people resent having animals around when they are eating and I can understand why. You probaly didn't read it properly. I feed my animals off my own table, they sleep in my bed and live in my house but when I go to a cafe, motel etc, I want them dog free.

Any chance you could let me know the answer please. My girl has been buried for 4 and a half years.

I'd like to see ANKC or WDR papers sighted, before any dog is registered as a particular breed. Take your ANKC papers, with corrspeonding chip to the council office and your dog is registered with it's pedigree name ( which only exists once ) , call name and breed. The rest are registered as " black cross bred " brown cross bred etc. -
You don't need to kick the dogs off your bed, unless you want to. You can set the rules and boundaries, without kicking them off. Make their beds comfortable and put them in a warm place. I teach mine the command " in your bed " and lure them in with a treat and reward. With a bit of practice they will quickly get that. I also teach them the command " get off ". Moving your arms and legs around the bed is usually enough to disturb them and get them to move off. Mine come to bed with me but when I've had enough, I kick them off and tell them to get into their beds.
