  1. It should be online. The NSW one's are Anyone know where to find it ?
  2. can anyone get a hold of the gazette when it comes out ?
  3. It would be a shame if the "dob in " line was to get thousands and thousands of calls. If every concerned citizen made a call and gave an address, it would take them months, if not years to work out which were real, which were fake and where to look
  4. I've had a complaint made against me , RSPCA rocked up, laughed at the dogs laying around on the lounge, kennels were clean, water bowls clean and dogs with rugs on as it was winter. What they did take exception to was my crates and said they could only be in there for an hour. They didn't push the issue any further. Sure I lock them up sometimes when I go out and some of them sleep in there at night, but given the choice, most of them will put themselves to bed if the doors are open. They are very happy sleeping in there and they know which one is theirs.
  5. Actually, I think it would be a good thing if pollies did decide to add SBT's to the list, although I think in this case, it's reporting that has mixed up the breeds and a misuse of the name by a pollie. If they did decide to add "staffy" , finally people might sit up and take some bloody notice , about what has been going on. Every second man and his dog, is an SBT or a cross bred there of.
  6. I've used them and Four Legs when we've travelled. They are ok as the occassional treat but I wouldn't feed them all the time. Better off with a pack of chicken wings or a lamb flap.
  7. It's not that they aren't "safe", but if they are harder than a brisket bone, chook carcass or roo tail, then over time the teeth grind down.
  8. As a general rule, if you want to look after your bull breeds teeth and for the dog to have them for a long time. They should only have consumable , softer bone. They have very strong jaws and can fracture and wear down their teeth. They often become fixated on whatever they are chewing and will grind those teeth down.
  9. I'd go with a vet trip, especially where increased drinking is involved. It could be nothing or it could be the beginnings of something like water diabetes. ETA: When you do a pinch test is he dehydrated ? Is he peeing more than usual ?
  10. I match them and I'm especially carefull where homes have children. Having children myself, I can see which of the puppies are outgoing but not hanging off your clothes and will cope well with kids. I've also matched pups to potential sporting homes. Sometimes a puppy buyer might get a choice between a couple of pups but never do they get to come in and pick from the litter. If I had nothing suitable, I;d send them off to someone else that could help
  11. Sadly they turn up quite frequently, even though they are not bred in large numbers. They need to be well socialised as babies ( you are seeing the impact of not doing so now ) and they make very good escape artists. I know of one dog who showed up in a pound numerous times, he was a repeat offender.
  12. I have a feeling that we've looked into those pics before and that the dog that is stacked is actually an AKC registered Amstaff. I'm sure NSW councils used the same pics and we took them to task over it. Time to go through those pics again and complain I thought that was an Am Staff as well. NOt good, not good at all! I thought that we'd been through those pictures and had found the owners of several of those dogs and that they had expressed they did not want images of their dogs used in such a way. I wish I could remember who tracked them down, maybe it was Zayda

  14. It does say over 20kg though, thats big for a PB SBT? ETA big not bit. I've got one
  15. Once again going by that ID, I have a Pitt Bull.
  16. I post the facts whereever I see an article that allows for replies.
  17. I'd have loved to see her have a go at pinning one of mine, he'd have ripped her a new bum hole
  18. Who do you consider yourself accountable to for the care you provide your dogs? Council, RSPCA and any other body responsible for policing the CAA and POCTA Dogs NSW and any other club or association that I'm a member of, that has a COE and rules pertaining the health and welfare Who holds you accountable whether you like it or not? RSPCA, Council, Police etc My peers Do you consider you have the right to hold others accountable, and in what capacity do you do that? ohhh absolutely, while everyone likes to do things differently, dogs have some basic health and well being needs, that should be met. I'm not one to see something and turn a blind eye and if I don't think it's appropriate, responsible or whatever, then I will say so. I'm also prepared to call in a Ranger, Police or the RSPCA and will certainly make complaints to places like Dogs NSW etc.
  19. I dunno but Cavs shit me to tears, I can't stand Cattle Dogs but there must be something appealing about them, as their owners love and treasure them. The same can be said for cross bred mutts but each to their own and I don;t care what people find appealing and choose to own, providing they are responsible owners and meet the dogs needs.
  20. Spay and castration/neutered respectively or if you are just talking about a dog in general, then desexed.
  21. No they aren't breaking the law, but they certainly aren't advising dog owners of their rights under the Companion Animals ACT. This sort of thing has been going since well before the introduction of BSL. They are preying on owners who do not know what their rights are and for many councils, if the "be nice" tactics fail, they bully and harrass owners into giving their animals up. One thing I have consistantly noticed is Councils like to flash about and threaten owners, with fines for having a " restricted breed " what they forget to mention, is that those fines are only applicable, if the animals has been declared " restricted "
  22. So do I. I'm going to buy one for a spare . Bugger I used my stickers on the other one
  23. If someone already has a Restricted breed and it's registered and housed as such, then they DO NOT have to hand their dog in, they are already complying with the Companion Animals ACT. If someone owns a dog that is registered with council ( as something other than a restricted breed ) then again, they DO NOT have to surrender their dog. If council suspects that the dog is of a restricted breed or cross, then as Quickas says, they need to issue and NOI and follow the due process. If someone owns a dog that is not registered, then they need to register their dog as whatever breed or cross they think it is, again, they DO NOT have to surrender their dog. I couldn't get onto the link, but if anyone see's any articles that you can comment on, please let me know and I'll post the above comments for NSW
  24. NO ONE in NSW needs to hand in any dog and we need to spead the message far and wide. Dogs in NSW fall under the Companion Animals ACT. Even if council suspects that your dog may be of a restricted breed or cross, there is a process that needs to be followed and council cannot take your dogs from you or force you to put it to sleep. Orange City Council tried this tactic in the paper a couple of weeks ago.
  25. I now have a Whelping Supplies tool box I found a use for those left over stickers, shame I ended up with a black and yellow box, as BigW has them in red and black... damn it
