You were better than wonderful . You've managed to come across in a way that many have failed to do in the past. Like others have said , you look like a caring and responsible dog owner, nice house, well cared for and obedient dogs and I think you will have caught and held the attention of many dog owners. Well done

Who Would Think That The Ava Would Play A Part In This
WreckitWhippet replied to DNB's topic in General Dog Discussion
absolutely. -
I know why they have included pics that don't match the diagrams or the written standard. They have done it so that they can cover every possibility, when they determine a dog to be a " Pit Bull " I wonder if they managed to draw the diagrams themselves or if they copied those too ?
-
I thought the same thing - dogs in the pictures go against what they are saying in the "standard"! I also like that it says their lips are clean and tight, then proceed to use pictures of the opposite. I wonder if there "standard" could be challenged ? based on how inaccurate the pics are, that they are using to illustrate the diagrams. The legal eagles would need to answer that one, but anyone with an eye for a dog can see how they contradict one another.
-
what an effing joke that is. They can't even get the pictures of the dogs they have used to match their " standard ". Seriously, whoever wrote that was a numpty and a half and if they are an all breed judge, they need to hang their heads in shame. They've shown a dog sitting as the example of a chest and I can guarantee when that dog stood up, it would look nothing like the one in the diagram, the dog in the pic doesn't have a huge depth of chest, he lacks pro sternum and he's turned out in front. They also shown a dog with excessively straight stifles and one that was over angulated. They've used a cow hocked and long hocked dog against their diagram from hocks and pasterns. The dog used to display the forechest, basically has none and it has no depth of chest. They have no freaking idea and if that's their guidelines, going by the diagrams and the wording, pretty much the only dogs in danger of fitting it, are Amstaffs. If anyone wants to argue the point with council about what their dogs is, simply take someone with you, that has a good eye for a dog, because I can tell you now, the numpties who wrote this don't have one ETA : tools is the only word I;m left with after reading that rott and the pics that go with it

Pit Bull Hand - In For Campbeltown And Wollondilly
WreckitWhippet replied to RottnBullies's topic in In The News
What they are trying to get people to do is hand in their dogs and they are basically trying to put one over dog owners. They are talking about the fines etc that apply for "restricted breeds" but those fines don't actually come into play, unless you have an already declared dog and you are not abiding by the legislation. If your dog has not been declared and is registered with council, as anything other than a restricted breed or cross, then the worst council can do to you, if they suspect your dog to be one, is to issue you with a Notice Of Intent to delcare. -
Pit Bull Hand - In For Campbeltown And Wollondilly
WreckitWhippet replied to RottnBullies's topic in In The News
Nowhere under the CAA does it say that vets should do in an owner to council. The vets I know, couldn't care less what breed a dog is, or might be, they are there to provide a service to their clients. The only person that can determine a dog to be of a " restricted breed or cross " is a "breed assessor". Councils can suspect a dog might be, but that is as far as their powers extend, from there they must issue a Notice Of Intent and it's the " breed assessor" who ultimately makes the decision. Owners need to register their dogs and it's up to Council to track them down and go through the process. There's no way in hell I'd hand a dog in, just because Council are running a supposed amnesty. If council wants the dogs gone, then council can do the hard work and track them down. Personal experience has shown me that if you have a dog with a decent temperament, breed assessors will pass the dog with flying colours and at worst, send you off to have a temp test. Owners are better off registering their dogs and taking their chances, rather than handing them in. To be honest, this so called " amnesty" is bullsh#t and the worst that can happen if Council thinks you have a "Pit Bull " is you get issued with an NOI, they have no powers to seize or do anything but follow the due process. -
That's very sad, Denise was always kind, up for a chat and happy to share her breed knowledge. RIP Denise

The poll runs for 5 weeks, average Joe will vote once and forget about it. If every one of us votes once or twice for the next 5 weeks, it should swing in the no's favour. We can usually turn a poll around by the power of DOL -
Sighthound Collar On A Staffy
WreckitWhippet replied to Polgara's Shadow's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just the size of the dogs neck but most of the places that make them, will also custom make. The martingales will not pull off over the head. Another collar that works well, is the "limited slip" some of the Sighthound places also make these in thick widths and they will suit too. http://www.hideandcollars.co.uk/collar4.htm http://www.rogueroyalty.com.au/store/dog-collars-large-dogs/leather-dog-collar-queen-of-hearts-/prod_68.html -
yep... all it's done is create a black market for ANKC papers and cast doubt over every ANKC dog.

Dogs Victoria???? Oh they post an image of a muzzled Rottweiler under the topic dangerous dogs in the last gazette! They don't even stick up for their own!!! As you can see I am quite angry about it Oh really? That'd be right, the month my membership lapses and I get no gazette I miss out on more gold from the Organization. Nope, can't expect anything from Dogs Vic. They are not capable of helping. Given their track record with docking and debarking, I'd expect them to simply roll over and play dead, as per usual -
It has been written on both their standards ADBA and UKC that they are strictly prohibited to be used In this manner I'm sure that would Include changing It to their own words etc does It not I'm waiting on the pictorial. I'm sure it will contain images that have been used without authorisation and I reckon they might even have a stuff up or two and there could well be an Amstaff floating around in there. I have a feeling that the pictorial will be the rehashed version from NSW. Once it's out, we need a copy , so we con plaster the overseas forums and find out who owns these dogs and get them to complian about the images being used in such a manner. If it contains an AKC Amstaff or one from any country that Australia recognises, then their whole method of breed ID is up poo creek.

Puppy Placement.in Thier New Home.
WreckitWhippet replied to Purdie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Especially so if the breeder you choose , knows the parents and Grand parents well. If the breeder has raised one of both of the parents, they will be able to tell you a lot about what to expect from your puppy. Some pups are so similar in behaviour to their parents that's it's frightening ( both good and bad ). One of my girls , is so much like her mother, even though she was raised here. I've sold pups that were very much like their mother/father prior to going to their new homes and many of their traits have continued to develop as the pups have aged. -
I believe we may be able to pull the rug from under them, when it comes to the " pictorial standard" we just need a copy of it and we can go to town on that one .

Sighthound Collar On A Staffy
WreckitWhippet replied to Polgara's Shadow's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep, I have them. I have a Blackdog one and several others, that I use. ETA: most of the leather one's are of a suitable quality and strenght to be used on an SBT, the only issue you will have is the size. Soemthing else to think about, is the d-link , with lead attached, will put the pretty thick part of the collar under the dogs neck. Have you checked out the Sighthound martigales ? They have some super one's that are also suitable for the SBT's, we have some of those as well. -

The pic of the actual dog, if there is one. I don't think it would hurt to save the other images used as well, so long as they are labelled as "archive pics " -
Use the hotline to report every dog you see out in public, without a leash and wandering. It's time to use up those council resources and get them to work for you

Owner Faces Jail Over Sydney Dog Attack
WreckitWhippet replied to Quickasyoucan's topic in In The News
Certainly no Rotti, it's a cross bred that could possibly have Rotti in it, Shepherd , Kelpie or none of the aforementioned. If anyone comes across pics of dogs that plastered next to articles, can they please save them and post them into the thread. The articles disappear over time and it's good to have the pics there as a future reference. -

WreckitWhippet replied to Quickasyoucan's topic in In The News
How freaking stupid are these numpties. It's not hard to identify the dog if it's " dangerous" If the dog has already been delcared as " dangerous" it will have already been microchipped, issued with an NOI, declared and recorded on the companion animals data base. Scan the bloody thing and it will instantly pop.. No , what we need is some my hysteria ( insert roll eyes here )
