  1. I agree with the others. Tell her it's $25 a day and she's to cover any vet expenses and she needs to pay upfront for the stay
  2. I have the simple solution. 1. Don't allow people you do not like into your home. That should solve any problems with the dog misbehaving 2. Don't take your dog with you, if there are going to be people you don't like there.
  3. I'd be mega pissed as an owner, if my vet did that to me. It's their job to manage their time and they should not have put your pup under, knowing that there was only one visible testicle and they would need to investigate further. At the very least , I'd be making sure that you didn;t have to pay for any additional surgery, especially another GA, as it should all have been done at the one time, including an ultrasound prior to putting the pup under. GA's aren't kind on a dogs body but I think you have been left with no option, other than to put him under again and have the surgery completed, if they manage to locate the other. He could well have been born with one testicle.
  4. I don't think you need more than a weekend to settle a pup in. The main thing is to make sure the pup is eating and drinking, knows it's way around your house/yard or where ever you intend to leave the pup during the day. Ensure your yard or the puppy pen is safe and secure and that the pup is fed before you leave, has a warm bed ( or somewhere shady for summer )water and some safe toys to play with. I suggest the no fuss approach to my puppy buyers.
  5. Congratulations Sandy, I'm very happy for you .. When's your prac ?
  6. You need to speak with those who are experienced with whelping your breed. General advice is just that, but depending on your breed, there may be some things that are more specific to your breed and even more specific to certain lines.
  7. a lot will depend on your breed of dog. Some will argue the are all the same and most vets will treat all bitches the same.
  8. I buy my food direct from wholesale, who supply for human consumption. I get back wings and other meats through them. Have a look around at your local food wholesalers and ask for a catalogue, it's amazing what some of them supply and you can be gauranteed it's fresh and you could eat it. I think the minute you mention the work "pet", the quality starts to slip and to be honest I don;t think many people care, if they make your dog sick or not
  9. I'm on my second Toledo and can't complain. There's nothing wrong with mine and I haven't had anything go wrong with either. I think they are pretty good value for the money and if you look after it, they hold their value well. Try the classifieds on the home page, there's trailer for sale on there. I would stay away from any that have been used by Greyhound people, they generally aren't very well looked after and do a lot of KM's. You might find the odd good one, but most of them have had Greyhound pee through them and are pretty rough
  10. Bluebreeze and a couple of others exhibited. I can't remember how many but I would be guessing more than 10
  11. Apart from when the bitches are in season, neither my entire males or bitches are any different to my other dogs
  12. I also forgot to say that if you are going to camp, there probably won't be any changing your mind and finding a motel room, as there's a footy comp on this weekend and apparently there are thousands of extra people in town. It's also school holidays and the weekend before our Race weekend. If anyone needs any other info on the town etc, I'll try and check back later on tonight
  13. As far as I know, you can camp where ever you like. I've camped twice and have camped where I've set up ringside. It's not a huge walk from any of the rings to the toilets and there's two walk aways back from the Gilmour st/ Sofala Rd side
  14. The rings will be fine, they were reasonably dry this morning after a lot of rain. Bring your gum boots for the car parking areas, as there are ups and down around the paddocks and a lot of water. If people can minimise the amount of times they need to drive around looking to set up, it would be good. Please stay off the football fields and the cars are not permitted to drive or park on them. It's fenced off and parking is behind the goal posts at either end and behind the cricket pitch in the middle. I think Gundogs or Hounds ( can't remember which ) swap rings but they are both very close to one another, so you won't need to move your tents etc. Excuse my hand drawn map ( the funny looking H are the footy goal posts but they are more in the centre of the rings LOL ) the rings will have signs on them, but it will give you a better idea if the weather is as craptacular as it has been in the last two days, as to where you are going. The road around behind the club house, toilets etc is fine, just be carefull once you are out on the grass, as it's wet and boggy. There is lots of room to set up around the edge of the rings and also between toys & hounds .... n/s and wd's Hopefully none of the rings have changed since set up this morning.
  15. If you are going to persist with him, then get your vet to show you how to tube feed
  16. Yep. I can scan them if you like and email them to you. I take them for some weeks prior to whelping and there's some seriously interesting stuff that goes on ETA: PM me your email or FB it to me, if you can't PM me
  17. If he's crawling away, he'll probably die. Let nature take is course and leave him be. Pups not suckling and crawling away, is an indication of something not being right. Really they aren't worth trying to save and you;re better off investing your time and energy into those pups that are doing well. ETA: after re-reading your difficult posts, he's probably got pneumonia
  18. It counts for nothing, if you have always kept your dog in it's own yard, have invested time and effort into raising a good canine citizen, love it to bits and consider it to be part of the family.
  19. Or if you did bring it into VIC, hope to hell it doesn't get out and get picked up by a ranger. You may never get it back
  20. At least they offer some alternative to the ANKC. Personally I view the ANKC pedigree or it's a pitbull, a bit like the car companies saying you void your warranty if you don't get your car serviced at the right brand car shop. And I really don't trust a visual id from a council ranger. The first lot are all one in the same, that means an ANKC pedigree from any of the state bodies. It's a fancy way of writing the same thing three times. You might be able to argue that if you have an imported Amstaff that you didn't re-register in Australia, but have it's papers from the AKC, you therefore have an Amstaff, otherwise you are up poo creek. If you have papers for any breed of dog that is not ANKC recognised and does not have a reciprocal arrangement with the ANKC then you are also up poo creek. UKC papers would not be accepted, as an example.
  21. I can't PM you I can't PM you either can you email me
  22. Why is it that our PM buying a DD is a big failure for Oscars law in particular? It is a slap in the face for registered breeders and rescue. It also highlights the scale of the DD problem. I would say more so for Oscars Law - this is one of the farms they have targeted and written about as examples of what they are fighting. Sorry Steve I disagree. Register breeders and rescue orgs have been around for a lot longer than Oscars Law. We cant seem to be able to tackle the PF'ing issues either. Why do we expect OL to reslove all the issues overnight? It can take years to close down a hideous and proven inhumane PF even when the RSPCA are involved. I dont expect OL to resolve things over night and the way they are going the only thing they will change is any progress anyone else is making. This is not a proven inhumane puppy farm at all and that is the whole point - apart from the obvious breed issues it is the selection of this particular breeder which is a slap in the face for OL because from what I can see they are the only ones who have said it is inhumane. If they were breaching the codes in VIC, surely the RSPCA and the relevant council would have been onto it by now ? Or is it that they are simply a commericial breeding facility and Oscars Law take exception to that, regardless of them ticking all the boxes in terms of what is spelled out under the current legislation? Is it really a hell hole ? or simply another commercial breeding facility ?
  23. Serioulsy, if you are wanting to use a stud dog, on what I'm assuming is still quite a rare breed, then why limit yourself and what you can do with the litter, before you even get started. Yes, you're going to have your obvious pets, but at the same time, you could well produce an exceptional litter, in which more than two could contribute to the breed in the country. Which states CC rules are you bound by ? Because you will need to consider that the service cert, will need to be completed and handed over at the time of mating. That said, if the bitch doesn't take, you need a clause in the contract to state that the service certificate will be returned to the stud owner, before any refunds etc take place. You want to make sure that there aren't any signed service certificates out there floating around that could be used in future. Before I get confused any more, do you own the stud or are you wanting to use a stud ? LOL
  24. Can you PM me, I wanted to have a chat with you and call you if that's OK
