  1. I'm a groomer and I simply tell people that their dog is really matted and it needs attending to. Some it works for, others just tell you to bugger off.
  2. Given that an SBT should have a pump handled tail and not carry it over it's back, it's not a nice look for an SBT either, but you can train your dog to keep it's tail down.
  3. You obviously do not check when your pups have been loaded into their crates, because they are not given a drip bottle to drink from. Maybe you need to check next time you take a puppy for transporting, it may also give you second thoughts. The cancelled flight is not the issue that DogsVet is talking about. The flight company is not the issue, it was dogtainers promised service that was not delivered. It was dogtainers who were rude and very unhelpful, not the flight companies. Why steer off a subject totally irrelevant to what the complaint is actually about. Its a public forum like you stated, freedom of speech, if you don't like what has been said, you can leave with a reply like, My dealings with them have been great over 30 years, no problems what so ever, sorry your experience was a HORRIBLE one..... that's being honest and nice about it. Everyone has had different experiences with the company. Everyone is entitled to say how they feel about their experience. I as of yet have not had a bad experience with dogtainers, but in saying that, I have dealt with them once and that was the Brisbane office. They were great. Like I stated in my other post, great customer service goes a long way. I have a pup coming from Hobart this week and I am so praying I do not have to deal with Adelaide dogtainers as it frightens me to think what could happen. Dogsvet is not the only one who has had issue's with the Adelaide company, maybe you need to Google and see for your self. You provide your own and fill it I toilet my pups and dogs, give them a little drink and pop them in their crates ( with their own bedding ) , put the cable ties on the crates, hand them over to the courier or AAE direct and then wait until the plane departs. By waiting, you know that the plane has indeed departed and the flight hasn't been cancelled. It's really just common sense flying a dog or puppy.
  4. Will be interesting to see how many ILLEGAL puppy farms are found and prosecuted in comparison to those which have been to date. Legal commercial breeders should be cheering - registered breeders, back yard breeders and small cross bred breeders who have not applied for a DA and have not obtained approval to breed dogs from their property should have a bit of sweat on their face. Its a given that Vicdogs are exempt from needing a domestic animal business licence if they dont have more than 10 fertile dogs but any one whether you are Vicdogs or not who has more than 2 dogs and uses one for breeding requires a DA from their council and without it they are the illegal ones. RSPCA now has the ability to enforce council by laws and operate outside of POCTA without outside accountablility. We certainly have moved into interesting times with those who are operating illegally without council approval having to make choices or risk all - here is hoping the epidemic of filthy illegal puppy farmers who are so abundant that we required laws which would radically affect all breeders in that state just give up and dont move interstate , or hide out better or become legal large scale commercial breeders. Lets hope that puppy farmers in other states dont see this as an opportunity to take up the slack and replace the markets for all of those illegal puppy farms which will no longer be able to breed and for the small breeders who feel its all too hard to have a litter of puppies now and then. In the mean time legal commercial breeders hit the jackpot. My advice to all Victorian breeders whether you breed one or lots is to check with your local council to see what YOU need to do to be operating legally in your shire. Dont assume you dont need to do anything if you are Vicdogs and have less than 10 fertile dogs. Do not assume that the definition of puppy farmer which is being used at government and RSPCA level is only petinent to those who breed commercially or that you are not compelled to be operating under a mandatory code which covers housing, vaccinations etc. if you breed dogs in Victoria and you dont have a vet vaccinate your dogs every year you are illegal - dont assume you will be exempt - you are not. BINGO....
  5. Did your pup arrive dehydrated ? did your pup arrive sick or injured ? if not, then you have nothing to complain about, other than some supposedly rude customer service. If flights were cancelled, take that up with the airlines. It's people like you , that make will make it more difficult for the rest of us to travel pups. Your pups arrived, suck it up and move on, or write to the companies involved.
  6. Err... it is! So call me a do-gooder for caring about cruelty to animals? Shadecloth used in the same way will keep them out and the snakes won't get caught in it. Sure beats the hell out of an angry snake in pain dying in your netting. But hey, wouldn't want to be considered a do-gooder or something. Shadecloth and fine wire won't catch them and they can't be disposed of that way. a) That is illegal. b) Someone needs to take population ecology 101. really ? I would never have known anyway the OP's problem will be solved by the netting and the dogs will be protected
  7. Your crate should also have contained a drip style water bottle, so your puppy was not flown without water. I've flown close to 30 dogs and pups with Dogtainers over the years and have never had an issue with them. We encountered two problems, one being a cancelled flight and the other a courier that didn;t show up but both were dealt with professionally. There's no point bagging them on a public forum

  9. I certainly hope not. Victoria is the home of some of the most ridiculous legisaltion pertaining to dogs in this country. NSW has the CAA and POCTA, the RSPCA has more than enough power already, to shut downany establishment that treats animals in a cruel way, according to the CAA & PCOTA. We don't need Victorias knee-jerk and poorly thought out legisaltion. You like it, you can keep it. Victoria can keep their legislation regarding breeding, BSL and cruelty.
  10. The netting is bird netting, is fine and small and stops them from going through. You need to put it on an angle and fix it to the ground. Snakes go straight through chicken wire. The do-gooders will claim it's cruel to the snakes etc, because they get caught up, but it sure beats the hell out of one in your kennels and dead dogs. Google is your friend and there are plenty of pics about, of how owners have it set up.
  11. That might just enable someone who has the misfortune of needing to hand raise, to get a little bit of extra sleep.
  12. It's been illegal not to chip pups in NSW for 10 plus years now, yet it's a widely and largely ignored piece of legislation, I don't know why the Vic pollies are acting like it's something fantastic and part of the solution. Chipping is great and helps lost dogs reuinte with their owners and that's about it. Shame they couldn;t go one step further and tweak the system so that the breeder details, stayed with the animal for life and we could use the information when dogs find themselves homeless.
  13. The new legislation isn't going to make a blind bit of difference, the RSPCA has always had the power to act where animals have been mistreated, they choose not to and cry poor, they prosecute when it suits them. Victoria is hardly the progressive state I'd hate to be a registered breeder living in VIC
  14. Pav lova. I guess we should not be surprised at your comments, it makes me wonder what else you might have to do to assure yourself of a win.A very disapointing attitude towards participtating in our sport. assure myself of a win I train my dogs, put a lot of time and effort into them, socialise them well and have them focused on me, that's how I assure my dogs of doing well. Exhibitors will complain about anything when their dogs play up, from the side show rides, to the wood chop, generators, sheep and roo poo on the grass, mud, prickles, the heat, the cold, bitches in season, tents flapping in the wind, anything and everything they'll complain about and blame everything but their own training or lack there of.
  15. I am betting you don't have a entire male that is unshowable when there are in season bitch's near? I think the first time you do, you might change your opinion. You can not train against instinct and some dogs have a stronger drive than others. Bitch's have to stay home for 2 weeks a year, surely that is not too much to ask. I've shown about 9 males to their titles, different breeds, different levels of drive , stud dogs and dogs that would be onto a bitch in an insatnt to mate. I've been showing over 15 years and have never had a problem with my dogs showing when my bitches or others are in season. You can train your dogs to focus on you, if I can anyone can.
  16. I show , full season or not and if my own dogs can behave in the ring, when they are in then that's fine with me. Bitches are often at a disadvantage in the ring anyway and you often have to have a superior bitch to beat an average male. They are often less impressive in coat and muscle etc. Add to that the fact they come into season, get moody, blow coat, phantom and whatever else the lovelies chuck at you, I take every showing opportunity with them. If others can't handle their males when bitches are in season, that's their problem. I keep my bitches fanny in it's crate and away from others and make sure I'm not putting it in dogs faces on the way to the ring. This topic comes up time and again and it's the conformation ring, they are being judged on conformation, unlike obedience and the dogs sports.
  17. There's comfort, empathy and planning ahead and then there's getting caught up in the owners emotions, the later does nothing to help the owner during a difficult time. The staff of a clinic bursting into tears and blubbering, is very unproferssional. Kirislin, that vet sounds like a great one.
  18. Listerine works because of the chlorhexidine content in some of them, it is also present in Malaseb shampoo. I have had great success with either a diluted chlorhex solution ( you can buy chlorhex ) and also Malaseb with the ratio of about 3mls per 100 of water, squirt it on, massage any debri off and dry with a towel.
  19. There are ways of dealing with it professionally. Get the clients to pay their account before going into the consult room or advise them beforehand ( in a nice manner ) that the account will be sent out. It's obviously distressing and upsetting and most people will chat and talk in the waiting room before hand but need a quick exit onece it's done and the emotions set in. We always advised clients they could park in the back carpark ( staff only ) and they could use the back door afterwards. It was nicer than having to come back through the waiting room in tears and having to face the reception staff and other clients. We dropped everything and attended to anyone booked in for a euth immediately, there's nothing worse than having decided it needs to be done and then kept waiting. It's hard to stay detached as a professional, especially when you are close to the clients and their animals but it can be done.
  20. Seperate them over night , away from each other. Stick one in the trailer or bedroom. Give them both a good feed of red meat and try again. Leave them out together , where you can watch them but stay away from them and let them get on with it. It depends how badly you want puppies, if you are going to go down the AI route, but remember, if you can't get a mating and you do, you could possibly be setting yourself up for a line of bitches that won;t mate naturally. If your bitch comes from a bitch with infertility issues, then there's a good chance, you already have.
  21. put a puppy pen up around it , problem solved or wait for her to go in their and shake the crap out of the tent and yell.
  22. commonly referred to as "cheesy doodle" LOL, it's all good unless the dogs decide to wipe it on the lounge
  23. Did you transfer the dogs into your name ? If not the breeders name and address will still be on the papers. You could always post the prefix here and I'm sure someone would PM you with contact details.
  24. The papers should have been given to you, when you purchased your dog. If that's the case, you need to look for the breeders prefix, which is the first word of the dogs registered name. From there it shouldn;t be too hard, to find them
