  1. I'd post the location of the park, so users can choose to avoid the nutter or be on the look out for baits.
  2. treat the dog treat the house = flea bomb treat the yard with lime on the lawns and gardens and spray the other areas with Malaban or similar.
  3. Just see how she goes and allow her access to the pups. I've had two bitches just get up and leave the pups around the same age and never go back. I thought similar things but apparently they can switch off the milk bar. Your bitch would have been gradually reducing her milk production.
  4. A pup is a living breathing creature not a piece of furniture and you as it's breeder should do what you feel is right. If you are unhappy with this person for whatever reason, call them and tell them that you have changed your mind and a full refund is available, where do the want it sent. They could well decide that as the "consumer" they have the right to the product, but frankly I'd rather someone attempt to sue me, than put a pup in a place where I don;t feel comfortable. Ultimately it's your decision
  5. Why not just give everyone a "generic" dog and make it a level playing field, because let's face it, it takes money to buy or breed yourself a great dog or bitch and not everyone has the money for that either. If owners/handlers/breeders can afford to advertise and they are talented enough to create great websites and ads, then good on them. I've also seen lots of dogs that are excellent examples of their breed and the only way to see them is in the flesh, so it's not all doom and gloom for those without the money.
  6. I only work a couple of days a week, they handle it well and there;s no need for me to give them anything to do. They stay locked in the kennels and some are out in yards, while I'm away. On the days I am home, they might spend an hour or two without seeing me at most. Every time I walk past a dog, I make sure I interact with it in some way, be it a pat or a game.
  7. Maybe in "puppy problems" Where ever it ends up, it should be bolded, highlighted in red and stand out like dogs balls.
  8. This is perhaps the most sensible sentence ever written on DOL and you are spot on. This is exactly what we should be doing
  9. I think while they are fine now and a little more evenly matched in size it's ok. I do however think that your little dog is going to end up as a chew toy and something to be dragged around the yard, as your Boxer puppy grows. I'd seperate them, when you aren't there to supervise
  10. From memory, the Lamb and Rice actually has the lowest fat content of the Candidae range, with the exception of Platinum. Pav Lova: while we haven't raised a litter on the ALS, we have a number of customers who have done so and been very pleased with the results. Generally, we find that Canidae is well tolerated by most dogs and that even the grain free varieties are quite easy on most stomachs. I fed the Platinum and the Chicken & Rice to Evie while she was still with us and she looked great, felt great and maintained the weight I wanted on her. Evie was an older St Bernard. Sags I've raised the last three litters on adult foods, so can't see why Canidae wouldn't get good results. It's a little difficult when consumers are set in their ways and have it beaten into them that they need a " puppy" formula. It's not going to suit everyone and every dog but so far it looks like successes have been wide and varied amongst breeds
  11. Nope there isn't and it's one of the reasons we've opted to stock it. Many others that advertise on the front of their bags as " turkey and rice " " lamb and rice " etc still contain chicken. There's also a few manufacturers that are changing formulas, I feel for those who are using a product and we're getting good results that now have to look for something else.
  12. I appreciate the feedback, especially in relation to the allergy and intolerant dogs. Has anyone raised pups on the ALS formula ?
  13. Reasons for asking, is that we have just stocked the product. The basics of any food product I can grasp, but I'm really interested in how it compares across the breeds and individual dogs. It's one thing to know the theory but the insight from users is invaluable. I'll be using the salmon on a couple of mine and the life stages on another.
  14. For those that feed Canidae, can I please get some feed back on which of the formulas, you have chosen to feed, which breed you are feeding and what that particular formula is right for your dog. Can you also let me know, if dogs is very active, nervous, lazy etc. Do you feed anything else along with it, such as fresh meat, bones etc ? Thanks in advance
  15. They certainly meant business didn't they.
  16. The laser is just a cold therapy laser, most Greyhound folk own them, they are great for helping dogs recover.
  17. you know they are going to come out of the woodwork, no matter what they look like , the good, the bad and the ugly. They'll get their CC and disappear again Thats why some of us pushed for a higher additional qualification, but the numbers were against us. Lets hope that the judges see it for what it is and with hold challenges for unworthy specimens. I doubt it, given there are very few judges that have the balls to refuse a challenge, let alone the multi BIG, BIS dogs , that they've probably seen in their prime

  19. Our Greyhounds do crap like this to themselves all the time. The first thing she needs is rest, that means no running around, jumping and carrying on. She can go for walks on lead. I'd also be looking for a Greyhound muscle man and a Greyhound vet close to you. It's more then likely not just a tendon tear and there's possibly a weakness or area that is out of alignment further up. We tend to find that the injury site was the weakest point that eventually gives in but there's nearly always something else going on. My Borzoi tore am elastic ligament and had a partial tear of the tendon. We went with 6 weeks of on lead only and used the Greyhound laser on him. He's fine now and hasn't limped again since the initial injury and treatment.
  20. Take the bitch in and have her speyed now. There's no harm in doing so. I've heard a few people make excuses and say that vets won't do it, but I've never come across one who won't. A good vet will desex a pregnant bitch and it's preferable to an unwanted litter. If you do not want to desex her now, then take her to the vet and have her injected with alizin, it's an abortion drug and can be used up to 42 days. The earlier that is done, the better. It's two injections 24 hours apart but to be honest if she's not a pedigree dog that you intend to breed later, you may as well just desex her now and be done with it. The alizin would probably cost you half of what it would to desex anyway.
  21. My guess is whatever it's eating. Rather than AB's can you take prepared meals of chicken/rice/mashed pumpkin. That should sort out the problem.
  22. Bring her out Megz, I'm sure she'd be willing to go round once more to achieve it.
  23. ain;t that the truth. I hear it over and again, people complaining that they have competition. They take one look at the catalogue and hope they don't show up. I feel embarrassed when I don't have any and they hand me 6 points, thankfully my dogs are competitive beyond breed level and get class in groups most weeks and frequently classes in show.
  24. Daily poo patrol is just part of essential doggy hygiene, the same as picking up the food bowls and washing them up. I can't believe that people leave it for a week and claim they can't find the time to do it.
  25. Two times a day when working and at least four times when I'm home. ETA: there's only premium dry and raw fed here but I can't stand poo on the grass or in the gardens. Everyone's kennel trained so there's nothing to clean up in there. I pretty much walk around behind them as I let them out and clean up as they go
