  1. Apparently groomers aren't allowed to use their professional judgement, we are supposed to do exactly what the owner demands, regardless of how unrealistic the expectations are or how the end result will impact on your reputation as a groomer. I've even had owners go so far as to say, that they don't want their dog clipped, just bath it and dry it off, even though the dog has it's ears matted to it's head and you'd be lucky to get a brush through any part of it's coat.
  2. that doesn't always work either. You can stand there with a matted mess in front of you, that hasn't seen a brush in 12 months and they'll still insist that Poochie goes home with a "puppy cut", when the best Poochie can hope for is that a 10 goes through and you don't have to go surgical. I'd like to know what makes owners think that a groomer can brush out, what they haven't bothered to in months. I feel sorry for the dogs and tell the owners exaclty how it's going to be, if they don;t like that, they can take their dog elsewhere.
  3. How often did you brush your dog out ?
  4. My baby girl Sessy at 13 weeks and then 3 years
  5. Well he'd be wrong but there's no point in arguing
  6. Buy the female first. When she comes into season she'll need a secure run or be prepared to crate and only allow out when supervised. Desex her at 12 plus months and then get your male. That way there won't be any accidents from dogs in your yard and you'll just need to keep an eye on her, so others don;t come over the fence.
  7. Why do the picks need to be made by 8 weeks ? It's their litter, they have leased the bitch
  8. $45-$60 an hour but it's not fair on the dog if it's not been done before, or if they are not prepared to have it stripped on a regualr basis, to maintain the coat.
  9. Prepare the whelping box and be ready from the week before and xray her on the 15th or 16th
  10. It's full of wheat and contains gluten. Put a splash of ACV in all of the dogs water bowls and see how your lawn looks in a few weeks time.
  11. It should be signed and handed over at the time of the mating, regardless of you accepting payment at the time of the mating. What is negotiated between the parties in terms of stud fee, litter size, return matings etc, is between the stud and bitch owner, but I really feel that the stud owner should abide by the CC's rules and regs at do it at the time of mating. People will argue that a service certificate could be misused, but the easy way around that is to write it into your stud contract that no refunds and no return matings will be given , until the cert is handed back to the stud owner for destruction.
  12. As a breeder I'd be seeking an opinion from a vet of my choice and then I'd go from there. I'd probably request that you spey the bitch and I'd replace it.
  13. It's not a good thing, the RSPCA has trampled all over people for years and now they cannot speak out against the injustices they have been dealt. We will now be silenced and cannot comment on the likes of Rozzie, the Gard Tibbies etc .
  14. I've never used on and the towels that I send with pups, usually end up soiled and chucked out. The pups have had no problems at all settling. It's mroe about what the breeder does with the pups, in terms of seperating them for short periods and getting them used to being alone, before the pups leave home, that's really going to make the difference
  15. More animal rights garbage and they really are going to have to try a lot harder than that, any fool can see that there were dogs stressed by travel. It shows nothing more than dogs is good condition being loaded into a van, in small vari kennels and being stacked on top of each other. The dogs were seeking human contact, they were curious and showing an interest in what was going on around them, there were some wagging tails and there was certainly some sniffing. Dogs fresh off long haul flights, are certainly stiff and take some time to warm up when they get to the other end. Put a dog in a trailer for a few hours and they take some time to stretch too. Animal rights feed us such bullcrap and sadly there are people out there who believe it.
  16. Sounds to me that you have a loose growing puppy, that's a bit gangly and doesn't quite fit together. It's a common age for many vets to put their hands on a pup and say it's got HD. You could see a specialist and have the hips xrayed or you could put the pup on a diet, until she reaches her ideal weight and continue with regular exercise and play, until she reaches maturity and then have her hips xrayed and read
  17. Are you using it on the Staffords? If so I'd be interested in how they do on it. I'm road testing a couple of the Greys and Pav first.
  18. It can do when you first begin it. I wouldn;t have selected thrive d as the product to use after Ab's , I would have gone with Protexin or a yogurt.
  19. I'd be more worried about bloat, an obstruction or poison
  20. Ain't that the truth and it's horrible to live that way. The first bark and I'm awake, the second and I'm up dealing with it. We sleep all of the dogs indoors, for fear that one of them may happen to make a squeak in the night and we'll have council on the door step. Meanwhile the neighbourhood habitual barkers continue on their merry way
  21. It could be a couple of things. The dog is short in back and over angulated in the rear end or the pup requires a trip to the chiro. A good chiro is invaluable as a SBT pup grows, they are often out of alignment, due to the rough and tumble.
  22. If the groomer had done a good job, there would have been no coat there for the bows to be put in, the head and neck would have been neatly stripped out.
  23. I agree re the price , it should be around 2-4 hundred, be their voices lowered a touch or made silent.
  24. Go into the local council and speak with the Ranger, tell them what you have done and request that they co-operate with you, so that you and the dog can live peacefully with your neighbours and request that they issue a nuisance order. Most rangers are resonable people and will understand that you have gone to great lenghts to put a stop to the barking.
  25. Thanks Brennan's Mum - we rarely go there (unless it is empty) I must admit but my concern is that alot of other people do Yep - Steve is awesome - we saw him 12 months ago and he was just briliiant - have a few furbies with their on lead behaviour - Tippi in particular - and want to nip it in the bud early... I just hope I have done enough and am happy to be PM'd or to put the park location out on the froum if I am allowed ??? I would much rather err on the side of caution as this guy was NOT joking - he was deadly serious and I think that is what scared me the most... There's no reason why you can't post the location as a warning for dog owners. There's nothing illegal about doing so and no one is going to sue Troy over it, it's a public place and it's not like you are bagging a breeder or a dog food company.
