Separation Issues - New Pups . Some Discussion...
WreckitWhippet replied to persephone's topic in Puppy Chat
Personally I think the more the breeder does, in terms of seperating the pups from each other, crate/pen training them, taking them for car rides, handling them, having others handle them etc, makes a world of difference to how a puppy settles into it's new home. I rarely get calls that mine cry or they are distressed in any way, most say they march in and take over the house like they've always been there. A bit of common sense from the puppy buyers goes a long way too. -
Male & Female Whippets

Yes, she will jump chain link, she will also climb it. She was surrendered to me from a home on acres. Lucy has also escaped from the pound over their chain link and barbed wire. She has been impounded numerous times, with several owners, so she MUST have a walled court yard or an apartment home -
The risk of pyo scares the hell out of me, so I do the girls as soon as I know they won't be bred from again and I realy don;t want to go through any more seasons than I absolutely have to. The dogs on the other hand, I'm happy to leave entire, unless they are being retired to a pet home

$800-$1200 as others have suggested. There's lots of litters for sale, but the quality pups are scarce and it could take you some time to find the right one

Question Re Staffordshire Bulll Terriers
WreckitWhippet replied to Pollywaffle's topic in General Dog Discussion
The majority of the dogs referred to are the "generic brindle pound mutt " AKA "Staffy" and a lot of cross bred dogs that are also labelled as such. -

We know she can easily clear 6 foot colourbond and she can also climb. She is really unsuitable for any place, other than an apartment or a home with an internal cour yard or brick walled court walled, such as an inner city terrace. -

Lucy is great with other dogs, she's in the house with my Whippets and Italian Greyhound and doesn't seem to care much abou Pav the Borzoi, she's met him off lead and basically just ignored him and went about her business. She is untested with cats, as I do not have one. Lucy doesn't appear to have a lot of prey drive. I'm trying to find a cat to see if she shows any interest -

I agree and then some, she's a very special one. Lucy also likes to have a chat, she bounces along beside me and when we get to the door or in the house, she likes to "woo-woo" I'm so totally in love with her, she spends most of her time in my bed with me, not that she minds. She just needs a home in an apartment or walled court yard, she won't disappoint her new family as she's perfect in every other way. -
This is the info I have posted on the DOL rescue pages and I'm happy to provide more information about them both. They have come into rescue seperately, but could go together if the necessary housing arrangements for Lucy can be met. Lucy in particular is just gorgeous, she is an absolute delight to have around the house and I have fallen madly in love with her. Ben is also a great dog. Both are very friendly and outgoing and nothing much bothers them.

I couldn;t find one low enough so I could groom my Zoi, so I got the OH to knock me up one. It cost me about $70 in materials and took us an hour to make it. It's low enough that he can climb on easily and I can reach his topline

Should Regional Areas Have To Support Erskine Park.?

I'm with you on that one. We went from "coffee" to dirty dish water, when they axed that coffee van and the lovely ladies in it. They made a mean cookie too -

Rescue Lumping Breederswith Byb And Pet Shops
WreckitWhippet replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
The supposed us and them issue is easily fixed, we'll simply reverse "pet quality" and make it " quality pets" , that should appease the masses problem solved, so those who like to get stuck into the registered breeders, can move on and tell us something else we're failing at -

I don't get what the big deal is, there are "pets" and there are "show potential" pups. If you exhibit and are breeding for yourself, this is always going to be the case. I've never had a puppy buyer complain or walk away because of the choice of words, nor do they feel they have an inferior pup because they have one of the "pet" pups not one of the "show" pups. There are some puppy buyers with a good eye for a dog ( they aren't all that common ) and then there are those who have no idea what they are looking it, some ask why I've chosen certain pups, some don't care, because they have come to simply buy a "pet". -
In NSW it would be illegal for her to walk the dog alone. Not sure about VIC It's certainly not a place I'd want to work for or send my dog

Hi SwaY. Vet bills are killing us at the moment. They keep taking money from our planned 'build' and I need to take control. I think its just insidious the things the dogs need attention to that creep up on us. Our last one was meds for 'heat spots' Px Perhaps you should be looking more closely at diet and spending the money there. Here's hoping the dog with hot spots is just a pet and not a dog you;d consider breeding from

And if there was a middle finger emotion available, I'd do just that, to the bullshit that was contained in that email.

If she's crapping all the time, I'd be taking a serious look at her diet.

Rescue Lumping Breederswith Byb And Pet Shops
WreckitWhippet replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
Some people in "rescue" and the PETA Nazi's forget that not everyone is interested in owning a pound mutt or a dog of unknown parentage/breed from a rescue. Many choose pedigree dogs because they like the predictability that comees with a pedigree animal. Some will never own a rescue and would rather not have a dog at all.
