  1. "Dangerous dogs" and "restricted breeds" are two different things. any dog can be declared "dangerous" and Steve can help with that but a " restricted breed" is one of the breeds prescribed in the Companion Animals Act and is limited to those breeds and their crosses and this includes Pitt Bulls.
  2. You cannot access a "breed assessor" or the " temp testers" without the notice of intent. BA and TT will not be considered valid unless an NOI has been issued and the BA and TT have been performed within the 28 days ( unless extra time has been approved by council ) You can approach an independent dog trainer or behaviour specialist, who could write a report about the dog but council and the court do not have to accept this, to let the dog off the hook.
  3. You are confusing the terms " dangerous dog " and "restricted breed", if the dog is chipped as a Pitt Bull, APBT or a cross there of, then it is automatically considered to be a " restricted breed". There is no way of accessing a " breed assessor" unless the owner has been issue with a "notice of intent" to declare the dog to be of a restricted breed or cross, as the dog is already chipped and was originally chipped as such, then council has no legal obligation to issue the notice, as the dog is already considered to be " restricted". If the owner has not built a child proof enclosure, then council is well within their rights to seize the dog. If you can prove that the dog is not a resticted breed, by way of parentage ( DNA ) , then there is some chance you could fight it in court, otherwise, you are pretty much up poo creek without a paddle. If the council are on the side of the ex, it is unlikely that they will accept any excuses or arguements from the owner as to what breed the dog is. The owner could write to the general manager of the council and the DLG, stating that the dog is x number of years old, has lived it's life as a good canine citizen and state what breed they believe the dog to be. They may have struck a ranger on a power trip and going above them might get the dog off. You caould lawyer up and attempt to fight it but really, it will cost thousands to engage a solicitor and there aren't many around that are familiar with the CAA. ETA: there was an "grace" period, to enable those with dogs that were already chipped as "resticted breeds" prior to the legislation coming into play, which enabled them to make acceptable provisions for their dogs, this expired about 6 years ago, so there is very little chance of council changing their mind.
  4. Can someone point me in the direction of the rule that states, you need only be a member to exhibit a dog. Cheers :)
  5. Wash in Equinade show silk, chuck a bit of the Equinade protein conditioner through the coat and rinse. Spray while wet with lots of Equinade coat shine/dressing and blow dry and then top it off with a good spray over of Ring5 coat dressing. When you brush her down, spray her with the Equinade coat shine before you start and the usual amount of water that you would apply to the coat before brushing a Zoi out. If you want to add anything to the diet, 5mls of Performa3 will help from the inside out.
  6. Cat traps are cheap to buy. You can get them at rural stores and on ebay.
  7. I can't vote because we use more than one option. If we are gone for a short time, some are left in the house, some crated, some free in the yards, some in the kennels and some are in the kennels in the shed. If we are gone for an extended period of time, some are in the yards, some locked in the kennels and some are in the kennels in the garage,
  8. I don;t take mine to the vets at all, the vet comes to me for puppy vacs. I also leave my puppies vaccs until 8 weeks plus for the first one. After that it's on lead and off we go.
  9. - how many times does a dog have to be reported to council before they declare it to be dangerous? After an NOI has been issued the dog can be declared after any incid3ent, be it the forst one or one of many - can this declaration be reversed after a period of time and if the dog can pass a few temp tests? Yes, you can apply to have the declaration revoked after 6 months ( from memory ). - does this vary from council to council or is it an overall law for NSW? Nope, every council falls under the Companion Animals Act Some however may be a little more trigger happy than others and some may refuse to revoke or put up more of a fight If you need help contact K9 Pro
  10. He doesn't need a rest to get his sperm count back up, give him a feed of red meat and he would have been ready to go again within a couple of hours. Wow facinating about the red meat and a couple of hours - infact after their meal last night I found them tied again - ON MY BED!!! oh well as long as it works - that makes 3 ties so we should be ok - I was under the impression that they needed 48 hours to get their sperm count back - but glad to hear that its not necessary. He is totally besoteed by her again today and won't move more than 6 inches away from her - but she seems to be getting a bit past it and prefers to sit next to me - but you never know there may be one more for the road - but I feel pretty sure it should all be ok. - oh God just heard a yelp - they are tied again and on my bed again - better learn to shut the door - I am running out of clean sheets!!! The things we put our selves through. You let them run together? Wow. Don't know any breeders here that would allow their dog and bitch to mate unsupervised. We supervise the first mating and then leave the dogs and bitches too it. I seperate them after each mating but basically let them out together and let them do their own thing. I know of plenty who watch for the first mating and then leave them in a kennel or run together. A mating is supposed to be a simple thing and shouldn;t need owners holding bitches and dogs and it certainly shouldn't be a natural mating followed by an AI. Just put the dogs together and the bitch will accpet him when she's ready and allow them to mate until they are done. Steve might be able to answer a little more scientifically regarding the red meat but I believe it's because the food source is easily digested and the essential nutrients are available to the dog within a few hours, unlike the dry foods which take longer to digest.

  12. Buy a force dryer and there's no need to bath , just turn it on and blow the hair out. I often by dry my dogs when they are already dry.
  13. Nope, I don;t want people to know where I am, or how many dogs i have and I certainly don't want them popping in just because they see a sign on the way past.
  14. I doubt there are any "silver" Pugs in the country, as Shazzapug says, breeders are lucky to have seen one in their lifetime. What people are calling "silver" are the smutts, that's when they aren't selling them as "rare" sables
  15. If you want to chuck your money down the toilet, when it comes to premium foods, then mix away. I hear it all the time too at work, owners mixing the premiums with cheap nasty stuff, that's full of fillers, grains, preservatives, food colouring etc. Why buy premium at all, if you're going to do that.
  16. Shazza, everything that I come up with in the way of pics for the "silvers" is just dirty, smutty fawns. Is that what you are seeing too ?
  17. You might want to get your story straight LOL
  18. That's hilarious. The person paying the mortgage has every right to be given applications by the property manager and say No, No, No, No...this one looks good - young professional non smoking skippy couple with no children and no animals. Accept it. The more demands that are placed on investment owners, the faster they'll ditch their investment properties and sink their money into something else. Then tenants will really have something to complain about. It's just a tad rich isn;t it Rzzzle . The whingers could always save their own money, purchase a home of their own and do what they like with it. It's hard to decide if we should rent our place out at any stage or just put it on the market and be done with it, there's plenty of other areas to invest in, that come with far less problems than being a landlord with rental property.
  19. Clearly some cross bred Pugs with Bostons and French Bulldogs there and nothing to be proud and a lot of dogs with poor conformataion.
  20. I hope this doesn't worsen the attitudes of breeders down there. OT, but I was interested in a BT years ago. After inquiring about them, I got no love from any breeders, bar one (who was awesome, and was from Tassie incidentally). Ended up giving up on it, they can have their registered dogs. Young single men with bold heads disinterested in dog shows and who's correspondence isn't peppered with platitudes (although polite, obviously) are not suitable owners, apparently. Registered breeders can never be too careful or too picky about where their pups/dogs go and if it means that some people who might be quite nice, miss out because they are young, single males etc, then so be it.
  21. I've not seen it before in any of the catalogues but there are some similar things availble Amphibious Bumper ( Canine Hardware Inc / Chuckit ) Dogsavers Retriever ( by Mammoth ) Tirebiter Retriever (Tire Biter )
  22. I hate when they say that but they want several hundreds of dollars for the dog not a give away yet the alternative is the pound I don't buy into that kind of emotional black mail and neither should other people. I stand up to those who talk crap like that.
  23. Poms are supposed to be small anyway and most people that label them as tea cups, really have no idea of the actual size of a well bred Pom. They'll call them teacups and miniature and swear blind they are. Some do breed hideous little things that are bred from small parents, from small parents and with no interest in the health and welfare of the progeny.
  24. Rabbits are great, buy them whole and chop them in half
