Puppy Food Recommendations (that Won't Make Her Poop So Much)
WreckitWhippet replied to a topic in Puppy Chat
Puppies do not need puppy food. What you have her on now is fine and 2-3 times a day is normal. Some mince chicken carcass or necks , depending on what the pup can handle and the dry will be fine -
Bathurst Council has an excellent head ranger and they are big on offering desexing programs and community education where ever they can.

I know Qld can be slow due to their odd way of registering the puppies into the buyers name but in NSW no one should have to wait that long. In NSW they should be registered as soon as they are microchipped, it can be done online and you have the option to pay express to get the papers back in days. If you don't use express it can be up to 4 weeks. If you can physically get to the office in NSW and pay express you get the papers in your hand in an hour. They don't have to be registered straight away and breeders have 18 months to register a litter in NSW QLD they have 12 months ( last time I checked ) and they can register straight into the new owners names, so they may not register until the last puppy is sold/rehomed.

Still Think Your Labrador Retriever Is Safe? Think Again!
WreckitWhippet replied to Podengo's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you look at their blog, I think he was a rescue dog. So again the argument comes about if you push getting dogs from rescue, how can you protect them from these laws? Don't get one. If you live in NSW, I'd be making sure that if you do choose to get one from a pound or rescue that it has been suject to an "official" breed assessment carried out by an authorised person and that it's passed -

PETA at its very best, they managed to market that message well. -

My last foster Whippet came to me with a very badly damaged nail. My vet recommended taking the whole toe off. She did an amaazing job, 4 stiches in total, it healed within two weeks and she charged me $140 to do it. I was super impressed with her efforts and how the dog recovered. He lost an outside front toe, hopped around a bit at first but quickly gained all of his balance and speed back

Can I give you a baby Whippet to take out and about. You can give it back when the destructo mutt wrecks something ? -
I encourage mine to hunt, after all they are Sighthounds and Terriers and that's what they were bred to do.

Natural Rearing Border Collie Breeder?
WreckitWhippet replied to creek817's topic in General Dog Discussion
There's a big difference between deliberately choosing not to vaccinate a baby puppy and being told that vaccinating an older dog that has already recieved puppy vaccs not to by a vet. If a vet was suggesting that vaccinating a pup would kill it, then you'd have to question if that puppy really should be kept alive. -
Relationship Changes With Your Dog
WreckitWhippet replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've had a couple of dogs that the bond was instant, others it's taken a while and for a couple it never happened and I rehomed them. My Whippet Sessy was love and first sight and I adore her. I have a new Whippet pup that I've become very attached to, she's a bitch of a thing that barks, bite's, wrecks things and generally causes a trail of destruction wherever she goes but I'd not swap her for anything. I recently rehomed a dog that I had a terffic bond with, he was very attached to me, obendient etc but a friend came along and they bonded instantly. Such was their love affair that I rehomed him a few weeks back. -
You need a decent picture of him, one that shows he really is a Pointer. Perhaps a good head shot of him. Don't be so picky about where he goes in terms of which state, the right home is probably not on your doorstep

Natural Rearing Border Collie Breeder?
WreckitWhippet replied to creek817's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't believe in putting chemicals onto or in my dogs for no reason and I can see the benefits of being very conservative when it comes to them. However I don't consider myself to be "brain washed" when it comes to vaccination. Depending on the age of the pup, they can require as little as one vacc and then you can titre test from there. To not vaccinate at all is irresponsible and no breeder in their right mind that cares for their pups would not vaccinate at all. The only place you're going to be able to buy a pup is from a back yard breeder, that pup is not going to have parents that have been DNA tested for TNS etc and I can tell you now that feeding raw and no chemicals is not going to prevent a pup from inheriting those conditions. -
Have the eyes examined Take a good look at diet The more times you wet the area, the bigger the chance of dermatitis or skin infections occurring Have the face clipped back short as Poodles would

Still happy to offer a place here and the cat is not an issue, as we have several dogs that will not tolerate cats. -
Foster Carer Needed For Female Whippet
WreckitWhippet replied to indigirl's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Yep, I can take her, the only condition is that she is a Whippet. She'd need to get to Orange or Bathurst. ETA: if you contact the NSW Whippet Club, they may have someone in Sydney who can foster if that helps with transport and placement, although I'm more than happy to have another foster. -
I Thought I'd Heard And Seen It All
WreckitWhippet replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I dont think Ams has posted anything that indicates this female has had loads ... If the bitch is actually 15yo and her system is still able to reproduce and raise a litter of pups in good condition then this bitch would have been well cared for. From the OP, it sounds like an accidental breeding. My thoughts too. Whilst I wouldn't personally breed a bitch of that age, mother nature will allow them to reproduce if they are fertile and fit -
My Staffords went from being ripped and covered in muscle to condition that I wouldn't consider ring worthy and we got off it. I couldn't keep the muscle tone up and they crapped like they'd never crapped before for the months that they were on it.

Interesting Research About Ocd In Dogs
WreckitWhippet replied to Aphra's topic in General Dog Discussion
The tail chasers I've come across it's been a self rewarding behaviour, something that relieves boredom, inactivity or stress. I've also seen them begin to chase their tails due to fleas, mange or other skin conditions and it manifests from there. ETA: It's interesting regarding the vitb, we use vitb injections before and during times of high stress for some of our dogs. -
I wouldn;t pay them a cent, no would I accept any liability on my part. You put wire on your side, it's not your fault they can't control their dog and you dog has defended it's territory

Not quite. Any dog born of two parents of the same breed IS purebred but it's a genetic dead end for the most part. Without a pedigree (that provides a record of proven ancestry) and registration with its breed register, the dog is lost to the future of the breed, no matter what its quality. That may not matter a damn to pet buyers but it certainly matters to breed fanciers although most breeders of non-pedigreed stock aren't thinking that far out. You may be perfectly happy with your dog PL but please don't try to justify what the breeder did here. It's a middle finger in the air to what a lot of folk here strive for. It's done and you're happy - can we move on from it please. Yep, they are forever lost to the "breed" and can contribute nothing What makes me even more angry is they way our gene pools are raped by the cross breeders. I find it a real slap in the face that some of the people breeding OOdles and the like have the audacity to ask for our quality pedigree dogs in order to make them. Puppy famring Kate is the first one that springs to mind
