  1. Someone best go and tell my understimulated Italian Greyhound that he needs to get out and live a bit. He spends the majority of his life either asleep in his crate, asleep on the lounge or asleep on a bed somewhere. He does that regardless of what's going on around him, who is home or what we are doing. I have crates, I have kennels and I use them
  2. or maybe if we had the "data" we'd be another step closer to no dog ownership, because someone has decided it's best we not owns dogs at all, heaven forbid some dogs are unhappy. I'm sure work would be happy if I rocked up with ten or so dogs and told them that bringing my dogs to work would improve the quality of their life.
  3. Unless a dog has a medical condition, then the only way they become fat is by being over fed, it's not rocket science. Allowing a dog to pile on excess weight is just as cruel as starving it. Pugs are NOT predisposed to being fat, they become fat because of what and how much their owners feed them. Vets should be telling owners how it is but sadly many don't, as they want that owner to keep bringing their pet back.
  4. I do not have a dog here that would pass. Perhaps with the exception of my 4 month old puppy. They'd all instantly fail on prey drive
  5. Why is it yet again this forum is disgussing mongrel bred dogs. ?
  6. We give enough free advertising to BYBer's and the like as it is.
  7. No it wouldn't be boring, it would be much more like the earlier days of the forum, where the discussion was more often than not about ANKC recognised breeds and there was plenty of talk and advice about whelping, raising pups, showing and the like. There was a lot of excellent advice from breeders and exhibitors who had been around forever and knew what they were talking about. Now it's nothing but gumtree ads, guess the breed, over run by offtopic and "rescue"
  8. Seemingly good doers can also have thyroid issues, it's worth having a T4 test done to rule them out
  9. Also try Horse Supplies Direct, they are super quick with delivery and postage is also very good. I can get a box delivered with a couple of 5 litre shampoos and bits and pieces for $11
  10. Yes, it's common for people who race, show and do yard dog trials. These big race and show set ups are usually very well thought out, with the dogs comfort in mind and have owners who are very particular about they way they travel. One of my biggest fears is an accident when I'm on the road, as the majority of the time I have all of my dogs with me and possibly every second trip I have dogs belonging to others.
  11. or they break it's leg in transit
  12. Is that pancake, pav? Yep even Cakes does bitey face, she's progressed a little since those pics and has moved onto feet, with the help of my husband LOL
  13. Go to any track on a race or trial day and there will be giveaway dogs. The only thing you need is a car to take them home in. They advertise them over the loud speaker, they certainly come with papers and they are certainly not desexed. You are right peterlonz, your experience appears to be very limited
  14. I reckon if he opened his front door and left it long enough, the dog would have found his lounge. They have a homing device when it comes to beds and lounges . It's lovely that he's been found
  15. They potnetially terrorise the dog trying to catch and seize it. Transport it potentially 100's of km's away and subject it to whatever testing and checks they want and then put it in kennels. There's the potential for the dog to contract diseases, not to mention the stress the dog is put through being caged in an unfamiliar environment. The dog is missing it's regualr meal times, toilet breaks and routine. There is a sudden change of diet. How is any of that fair on a dog ? It's not but the RSPA can and will do it, just because they can. It's not just old dogs at risk, but any dog that does not look 100% or any dog at all.
  16. But why = why do you think it is excessive ? It simply doesn't fit with the science. With every other species we trot off to the zoo, watch documentaries and go "WOW' and walk away in awe about the different and unique reproductive systems . Yet when it comes to dogs we let animal rights - people who have probably never bred a dog and never will dictate what we should accept as the science of breeding - in the mean time putting our bitches at risk . Its gotten to a point where if you dare say that bitches should be bred each season you are bagged and slagged .What the hell is the point of us pushing for people who want to breed dogs to go after greater knowledge - give them the facts and the science and then tell them they cant do that because its against the law. Its the same with laws which tell us we have to vaccinate every year etc etc and no law should ever be introduced which is not conducive to sound science - the fact the CCs went that way first is disgraceful. You're instantly unethical, should you speak your mind about breeding them young too. Providing your bitch is in good physical condition, then there's nothing wrong with breeding them young and breeding them often.
  17. At the very least she needs to keep a diary and contact the local council regarding the dogs. She needs to advise council that her dogs have been barking when the neighbours stick thier heads and hands over her fence and antagonise them. By keeping a diary, she is then able to dmeonstrate to council that her dogs are not nuisance barkers. I have successfully defended my dogs with Council, when a neighbour wanted to complain about ours, yet the barking was caused by her banging polly pipe on the fence and setting them off.
  18. Practicing taking out a leg The death grip on the ear and side of the face, so you can throw your opponent to the ground In for the kill
  19. Amstaff v SBT bitey face.. The SBT won the battle but the Amstaffs won the war
  20. Absolutley, they test their grip, strenght and developing the skills, moves and stamina that would be required in a fight. Yes it's great fun but they don't restrict the game to just the face. There are strategic points involved, including grips on the ears, the throat and in particular practicing taking out a leg. Watching the Staffords is very intereting and the pups test and push the adults from day one.
  21. Every race dog has a pedigree, so there are thousands upon thousands of them out there and giving them away with papers happen on a regular basis
  22. That doesn't make any sense. Once you have vaccinated your dog and it has immunity, you cannot give it any more immunity by vaccinating it again every year. Given that you supposedly live in a high parvo area, then your dogs would be exposed to it and therefore will have their immune systems challenged each time they come in contact with the virus.
