Skye Terrier Cross?
WreckitWhippet replied to tdierikx's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Looks like your average Corgi x Schnauzer -
I wish them a 3am c-section on a public holiday. They might breed once but they'll never do it again

I am an expert in breeding pedigree dogs... No really I am I swear to you, that's her baby

LOL Is that a Weimaraner in the Shapes box? My Wei loves Yoghurt and tends to get her muzzle stuck in the little yoghurt cups. Raspberry is our favourite! No that's a Greyhound, they are renowned for their brains and beauty. This one was beautiful but functioned on pea size brain matter

Having taken the temp on every bitch I've whelped from at least three weeks out from the due date, I have noticed that about a week before the bitch actually whelps, she has a temp drop and a bit of a practice scratch up. Nothing ever comes of it and then around a week later we get a substantial temp drop and whelping begins. It's been very interesting to watch over the years. I've never bothered with prog testing, careful observation and the odd ultrasound is enough.

I would have ultrasounded to check they still had heart beats and they were active and waited.

Welcome to our world Haredown, maybe you'll consider becoming one ? Well then I'd be contributing to the "too many" dogs situation now wouldn't I?? Pity folk don't do a bit of research about who's REALLY breeding in numbers before trotting out that accusation on ANKC breeders. I'm breeding in the negative at the moment. No pups for over two years and my rescues are around 6

Actually breeders tend to work a bit more cooperatively. They certainly don't regard helping out dogs as "clearing up mess". Responsibly bred and homed dogs don't tend to be viewed that way. Certaonly not, I consider it to be assisting an individual dog in need and the breed as a whole. I also believe a little in " what goes around comes around " and should I ever be in the position where I need a fellow breeder to help out a dog of mine, I think by now I would have built up enough credits for someone to step in.

So at any time, a breeder should have to take back all dogs bred, regardless of age, sexual status, vaccination status and their own lives. I love a dreamer. You don't just toss the dog in the back yard and hope for the best with your other dogs. How many horse breeders live in the burbs and have to get permits for every single extra dog they have? The issue isn't whether the dog goes back to its breeder but whether that breeder can step up for the dog in other ways. How many rescuers could take back any dog they'd rehomed at any time on zero notice?? Pfftt, what would you know, it's really easy Throw your doors open and damn the consequences

Greyhound Racings Dirty Little Secret Exposed

As a NSW licenced Greyhound owner/trainer I recieved this today -
I'm doubtfull that there are many "purebred" or "pedigree" dogs that are in pounds and go unclaimed by their owners. I get a phone call from my local each time there is a "staffy" in there that goes unclaimed. Each time I go down there, it turns out to be the "generic brindle pound mutt" aka " the Staffy", which is typical of pounds all over the country.

Worming Tablets And Vomiting.
WreckitWhippet replied to Staffyluv's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes and as I result I rarely worm her. Worming every 3 months for a dog that lives alone in suburbia is over kill. You can always have his poo tested and worm from there if necessary. The only tablet mine can tolerate is drontal. -

Stop attacking the good intentions PL! and people think that they are going to take on the might and power of the racing industry with their good intentions and made up facts and figures. It's laughable really and the latestt " ban racing petition" won't get further than a shredder or round filing bin -
Not my dog but I think I remember telling her something about buying her an icecream when she got her Grand and sharing it with her.

Puppy Vaccinations & Worming + Heartworm
WreckitWhippet replied to Sail_Away's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The beach is one of the safest places to socialise with known vaccinated dogs. Play down where the tide has washed the beach. I'd have no hesitation in taking mine to the beach and I'll do it from 8 weeks -
I'm also an expert when it comes to health and nutrition... no really I am It's not my fault they choose to snack between meals, dine on left overs from the garbage bin and put their feet on the kitchen table

Greyhound Racings Dirty Little Secret Exposed
WreckitWhippet replied to Greyt's topic in General Dog Discussion
Er no, the Australian Greyhound Racing Industry is uniquely well equipped in the destruction of dogs. It doesn't need to be compared to Pedigree Dogs Exposed. So if racing at Wentworth Park has been around since 1932 or so, the Greyhound Racing industry in NSW alone has killed in excess of 200,000 dogs. The problem with the facts and figures as they relate to the killing of dogs as a by-product of the Australian Greyhound Racing industry is that none of them are good, save for GAP which makes a very small by valuable difference. Where are you making this up from ? Are these facts , figures, estimates or guesses that you've come up with yourself ? So far I've seen nothing that relates to Australia, with the exception of your first post and even then, you appear to have made it up -

Right so the Australian Greyhound Racing industry is going to be tarred with the same UK brush, just like our pedigree dogs have been with Pedigree Dogs Exposed. Come up with some facts and figures that relate directly to Australia -
Personally I think it's a load of BS, one of my dogs does his fair share of winning, he wins under judges from all around the country. Pictures of me handling are the one's that are splashed about. Hand him over to another person and he wins just as much... go figure

Hang on, you are talking about the UK. What are you talking about in Australia ? -
He should have been in bed for at least an hour before that, that's where toddlers should be.
