I don't believe in pumping chemicals into my dogs for the sake of it. We are not in a heartworm area, we live in cool climate country so it's not necessary to treat. I worm pregnant bitches and baby puppies. I might worm the older dogs once or twice a year. I've never had an older dog with a worm burden. If I am going to worm them, it's usually at the time when I introduce a new dog or puppy

Heartworm For Pregnant Bitch
WreckitWhippet replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I wouldn't use any of it on a pregnant bitch. No ivermectin, moxidectin or any other nasty. Ask the manufacturer if they have actually done any studies involving bitches in whelp. -
I don't really fit into your poll, because it depends on the dog. I usually feed the biggr meal in the morning and some have a bit of a snack before bed. The Greys are fed twice a day but the evening meal is the bigger of the two. Pups are fed twice. One bitch is fed at night and she grazes all night, she gets a piece of chicken or a bowl of mince in the morning. It's how she likes to eat and it's fine by me. My dogs are the first thing I do when I get out of bed at 5.30 and they have always had breakfast by 6.30am. Dinner and evening snacks are whenever I get to it

I'm not sure how one could think of Debra Tranter as an "animal rescuer" , she's more of a tresspassing theif and certainly an animal rights loonie.. People seem happy enough to follow her though and to put faith in something ( Oscars Law) , which is never to be. They can't even work out the definition of what a "puppy farmer" is, let alone call for legislation to stop it.

I've been thinking about this question for a day or so and the answer for me would be a yes, but in saying that it would be my terms and my rules. There would be no "meeting" as such and certainly no "socialising". I've had quite a few "indifferent" dogs over the years and I would be more than happy to for example, go for a walk with someone who is having issues with their dog. The dogs would be kept well apart to begin. I'd be confident and comfortable to go for a walk and allow the dogs to be near one another, but I would probably not go so far as an actual meeting. Many fearfull or excited dogs can benefit from being around other dogs that are calm and indifferent, however average Joe practicing "Cesar Milan" techniques has the potential for disaster in most circumstances.

There's no such thing as "Oscars Law" it exists only in the imaginations of the AR loonies, so no one's going to be charged under that any time soon. It would be interesting to see the list of charges

Calcium Sandoz and Oxytocin are the two things I have on hand at all times, the rest I think you can probably find in your house as you go along

I've treated dogs with nothing more than an all raw, all natural diet, aloe juice ( board certified ) and vitamin b complex injections. The nasty chemicals ( while they kill the might ) that you put on and in the dog are further weakening the immune system. I'd try all natural and see if the dog can recover on it's own.

It's very common for bitches to stick like glue. Mine has been annoying me for weeks, I can't even go to the toilet in peace. She follows me everywhere and when she's not doing that, she'd laying on my bed on my pillow

It's not normal but if you think it's just teething, then some Bonjela will work

People's Prejudice Against Dogs
WreckitWhippet replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
Tell them your house, your dogs, your rules and if they don't like that, they can either clean the place or find a motel. No way on this earth would I put my dogs out or change the way they live, just because someone else doesn't like it. -
I suspect that many are dumped because they become troublesome in their old age, many start to forget themselves and toilet in the house or areas where they aren't "allowed". They can become deaf and nuisance yappers when they call for attention or become lost in their yards. They become costly as they age and the medical bills and dentals are bound to add up. They lose their looks and some find old dogs unattractive and past their used by date. How anyone could have left this to die in a pound is beyond me, but I suspect maybe the medical bills were adding up. I'd had her barely two months and she was gone, her little body was riddled with cancer. Shame on the a-hole that left her to die at DAS. I gave her some peace and love in her final days and she was such a delight it felt like she'd been here forever. We have an aging rescue, who forgets himself and is generally a pain in the arse but he's not going anywhere. He'll die comfortably in his bed, somewhere in the house. I think he's got a few good years left in him.

Rescue Dogs - Clues To Their Lives Before You.
WreckitWhippet replied to Wobbly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Totally disagree. My 83 year old friend who passed away earlier this year, had a rescue Pom X, who was the sweetest dog, except he hated people he didn't know & trust trying to pat his head, he would snap & if they weren't quick enough the person got bitten. He also hated children touching him, she had to keep him away from children, or muzzle him when she walked him, in case some child ran up to pat this cute dog. This lady was an experienced dog owner, who used to breed & show Great Danes, until she became to old to cope with it. It's obvious poor Angus had been hit on the head by adults & treated badly by kids. Wow that is an assumption and a half. The clue is in the first part of your post. He didn't like to be patted on the head by people he didn't know well. That is a typical reaction of many a dog that feels threatened. Dog basics 101, do not come over and pat from the top. Many dogs are also frightened of children, they do not need to have been abused to react like that, a lack of socialisation is all it takes. -
I am soooooo glad I don't live near you. The dog singing I can handle but bagpipes are enough for me to call the Police LOL

I pull the pin at 30 something. The dogs have it good at a show, with cool coats, cool mats, fans etc but I feel the heat. I play it by ear, if the dogs are hot and bothered I don't take them in the ring and we go home

Diarrhoea After Worming And C5 Shot

I would be very careful when it comes to future vaccinations for any puppy/dog that has shown any kind of reaction to initial vaccinations. -

Rescue Dogs - Clues To Their Lives Before You.
WreckitWhippet replied to Wobbly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why ? For the most part it's guess work. You need to address the dogs current behaviours not the dogs past ETA: I also rescue. I assume nothing about the dogs past and take what is passed on from former owners, pounds etc with a grain of salt. It's more important to be able to pick up on the dogs behaviour and signals and to be able to understand and manage the issues, then it is to speculate about the past and why you think a dog might act the way it does. -
No they haven't. And with this petition they are trying to help prevent things from becoming worse. But need the support of members and their friends and relations as well. Hows about Dogs NSW just push for the enforcement of the existing legislation ? We can't even get the basics right in NSW. But then again, see above, as most of the Dogs NSW breeders would be instantly wiped out because so few have DA approval and that once again leaves the puppu farmer with their commercial enterprises that comply and the BYBer's who don;t give a toss anyway.

Gawd that's a bit much isn't it?? I don't think anyone on here is regurgitating food for their dogs *sigh* Twas a joke. Its why pups lick adult dog's mouths - to stimulate them to vomit food for them. *sigh* twas a joke between you and Pavlova...don't treat people like fools. I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion

Aww come on, I've seen you with Sessy and I reckon Bretty has slipped one to you
