It's been know to happen and yes those that post such things have come unstuck a number of times.

I guess it doesn't really matter for the rescue pups anyway, as they put through juvenile desexing and in the scheme of things an extra vacc is neither here nor there. Interesting that people would think the rescue bitches more likely to have low immunity, I would think that such bitches would have been exposed to a greater number of pathogens than your average dog, given they've wandered the streets, been in pounds etc. They have have survived to breeding age without being killed by parvo or another nasty.

For Those Who Feed A Dog A Natural Diet ?
WreckitWhippet replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nope LOL I fuss and plan over the dogs but don't bother much myself -
" Happy year of the snake " I think not for those of us who have lost dogs to snake bite.

Speak to Jimmy at Cardawan Pets in Queanbeyan. Tell him Bec and Tammy sent you :) His meat comes in every 2nd Friday (off pay week for public service, ie a few days ago). It is minced fresh that morning and usually arrives about 1pm. Anything not sold fresh he repackages into smaller bags and freezes so you can always buy smaller quantities at other times. The meat is so popular that he is now buying over 600kg a fortnight to keep up with demand and has just started to get chicken in too (it used to just be beef or roo). Sometimes it is minced, sometimes it is diced but its the same meat just not always prepared the same. When it is diced you can see just how good the quality is- looks like steak we would eat ourselves :) That's who I used when I lived in Canberra and was never unhappy with the quality or what he had to offer.

Forcing the bitchc to go back into the box and forcing her to lay there and feed the pups, when they are not restless, crying or dehydrated is unwarranted and quite frankly boarders on being cruel to the bitch. The fact that she has healthy, content babies speaks volumes for her care of her pups. She's being shuffled from lounge to laundry and back agaid and clearly this is upsetting her to some degree. Pick a spot, stick with it and have a bit of faith in the bitch to raise her babies
-
If she's free to come and go then chances are that she's whipping in and out of the box and getting on with it. The pups will call and cry if they are not being attended to

My current bitch with pups, started spending a couple of hours at a time away from the pups around that age. By three weeks she was spending more time out than in and now coming up to four weeks she just goes back in for 10 minutes at a time to top them up. I would not be worried about her behaviour unless the pups appear restless. Check how hot it is where she is located. You might also find that the location is boring and she'd rather be out somewhere else in the house with the pups, which is not altogeher a bad idea as it provides the pups plenty of socilaisation too.

No it doesn't put you at a disadvantage, if you've got a decent dog it will rise to the top regardless

It is still a requirement of the Dogs NSW COE for all breeders to vaccinate 10-14 days before selling a puppy and as it is vital for some breeds to leave at 8 weeks there is no other option. It may or may not be a waste of time depending on the antibodies from the Mum and there is no way of knowing. Personally I would rather give it in case it does work. I'm a dogs nsw breeder and have no trouble like many others in waiting that bit longer to vaccinate, as it's in the best interests of the puppies health, not to be over vaccinated. Three puppy vaccines when you can provide immunity with only one or two, is over kill.

The Instigator! Do You Have One?
WreckitWhippet replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nope, as I don't tolerate that sort of crap -
C3 at 6 weeks is a waste of time and does nothing to protect the pups

Bitch 1 had Proplan Performance Dog had Canidae als Puppies had prime mince, jalna yogurt , soaked proplan chicken Bitch 2 had Propplan performance and all of the puppy left overs

If you have the option of desexing at 18 months or so, I'd certianly be taking it. If the breeder is concnerned, then they can always have a vasectomy performed before the pups leaves their care and that way the hormones required for growth and development remain

The JD's mince isn't too bad but be aware it's loaded with preservative, although they say it's "human grade preservative"

Advice For My Sister - Issue With Neighbour
WreckitWhippet replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
My suggestion for your sister is to set cat traps on her property and dispose of the offending cats. Cats are not allowed to wander onto the proprty of others and cause a nuisance. In the mean time she needs to keep a diary of the dogs barking and what they bark at. Take pics of the cats in her yard etc. If council press on with a nuisance dog order she can fight it based on her evidence. We've trapped every roaming cat that has come onto our proprty and caused an issue in the last 8 years. We haven't had to worry about them setting off the dogs for a good 18 months now and it's back to being peacefull -
One of my bitches as diagnosed with it and she was PTS. She was dying of organ failure due to the diabetes. It came on very quickly and she was diagnosed and gone within the week. Medication can control the illness, it's the kidney failure (if it occurs ) that results in death. ETA: my bitch was going through 5 plus litres of water a day and was urinating in her sleep, it was horrible to watch

That's the best that I can give you. That's a pic not taken by me, not edited other than being cropped and facing the full afternoon sun. I guess he's not referring to him afterall LOL

I'll play the game and bite, seeing as though you want to bag the dog but his record speaks for itself. He stays at home for sometimes months on end and is shown when we feel like it. Looking at his numerous challenges, he's never been awarded a challenge that I can see or remember under the same judge twice. None of his BIG's of RUBIG's have come from the same judge. I've not had the fortune of scoring the group judge for general specials and the class in show and BIS win have required two judges to put him up. He's been under breed specialist, old time Terrier judges, owners and exhibitors of the breed and judges from all around the country, surely they can't ALL be wrong ? He's beatable as all dogs are but more often than not he's a breed winner and his last metropolitan outing was a class winner of six. Feel free to pick the faults, discuss them, make what you will of them. I know what they are, there's no hiding them but his virtues far outweigh his faults. 4th Baby Puppy class at SBT Club Northern NSW Sept 2009, under Mr Frans Coetzer ( South Africa ) 3rd Baby Puppy Class at SBT Club Norther NSW Sept 2009, under Ms Nancie Booth ( UK ) 1st Baby Puppy dog at British Terrier Club of NSW, October 2009, under Miss J McLauchlan (UK) 4th Puppy Dog at the ACT & Dist SBT club, 10th April 2010, under Mrs Elaine Norton (UK) 2nd Puppy Dog at the ACT & Dist SBT club, 11th April 2010, under Mr Tec Norton "black brindle, a very appealing expression on this dog with nice round eye and neat ears, just the right head shape from all angles.
