Ummm hello, the standard calls for the following Same dog but obviously younger and less mature than his Westminster photo.
-
LOL and I am happy to make it ..... on looks alone. I have never shown, never likely, and am happy to know that a dog is happy and healthy. That GSD is plain sad. Look at the difference between the younger and older photographs in terms of the back legs. Elbow is heading to the ground. You've just bagged the BOB Westminster Whippet and you have no idea about the standard, as I said, it's a big call to make

hmmm I listed too many .. back to square one ohhh I know... the dog I went somewhere last year and had to turn around and go back to get him

I haven't read the whole thread, but I was so pleased to see these posts because I was quite shocked and was hoping I wasn't the only one. I thought some of the photographs were simply awful and in some the dogs looked almost deformed !! When I saw the Whippet, my immediate thought was that Kirislin's dogs would beat that one hands down. Same for some of the other breeds I've seen represented on DOL. Juice, I thought the while Bully looked "not so good", but really liked Yum Yum the coloured one - LOL. The photo of the GSD made me just feel sad. ETA: I watched a video of Best In Show a couple of days ago - LOL. That's a big call to make. He's a very promising 14 month old and nicely bred to boot, he's got a lot to offer the breed. I'd like to hear what you think he lacks according to the standard

There were some stunning dogs and bitches in there, that were made to look very ordinary. Photo's taken on incorrect angles, dogs with heads turned and made to look as though they have no neck. Dogs not set up, very disappointing and the majority are images that anyone who knows anything and conformation would bin

I second RC for building muscle and maintaining muscle.

I'd be bloody disappointed if I had a Westminster BOB and they thought it fit to publish pictures like that.

So that half feral cats are kept, the owner gets away with it and the cycle continues.

What a joke, this OP cannot legally take the cats and hand them onto a "rescue", they can be handed into Council or the RSPCA can be called. I'm fed up with people that give advice to disregard the law, when it comes to dogs and cats. You cannot keep an animal because you think it's abandoned, neglected, unwanted or whatever excuse you use to justify the situation and a rescue cannot legally accept a surrender from some who is not the owner or is without the authority to surrender. As for owning a cat, yes I have one ETA: If the RSPCA is not called, then the owner of the cats simply walks away, at the very least they should be facing the music for abandoning them.

Brett was BOB Stafford.. and shortlisted for Group and was Ausbred in Group Expertly handled and cheered on :)

I would personally use the Malaseb, as it's only going to take a week or so of using it diluted 3mls to 100 water. Sure beats the hell out of a fullblown ear infection that would require ab's and it has the potential for further complications.

not good enough is it -
I'd go with a dose of Scourban or Peptosyl

Vaccinations for KC are next to useless. For years I had my dogs boosted every year. Then I had a couple of dogs from breeders who didn't vaccinate for KC, we had KC go through our kennels and the one's that were vaccinate were the sickest of all. The unvaccinated dogs barely managed a cough and the second time it was only the vaccinated dogs that were affected. Consequently I no longer vaccinate for KC at all. The dogs are exposed to others at shows, the leash free, the vet clinic etc and being fit and healthy it's just a waste of time and money to pump a vaccine into a dog, that in all likelyhood, has developed natural immunity. A vacc of c3 at 8 weeks plus , then another 4 weeks after the intital and a booster 12 months after that, is all that is required.

Legally you do not have the right to keep or remhome them. A rescue group cannot legally accept them either. Inform the appropriate authorities, which are your local council and the RSPCA. They have the powers to seize the cats.
-
These people are not the only people in NSW claiming to "rescue" and rehome Foxes. There are others doing it, who think it's ok to "rescue" and rehome without first desexing them. They are happy to place them on "farms". There's no regulation for the keeping of Foxes in NSW, I suppose it's probably never crossed the minds of the power that be, that people would actually consider keeping one in suburbia as a pet. I'm entitled to my opinion, just as everyone else is and personally I think that it should be made illegal to keep one and I will push for this to happen and it's highly likely that it will occur
-
No, it is quite nasty and your tone is making you come across as being quite petty and unpleasant. There is no evidence that the activities of this rescue group have impacted negatively upon landowners or native animals which are the key issues of the fox population in Australia, and no evidence that they are not doing their very best to ensure that the foxes are placed responsibly. You have made unfounded accusations regarding the operation of this rescue by claiming that they do no vet work prior to sale- a clearly baseless and unjust accusation given that they state clearly on their website that they do indeed have their animals vetted. Very common mudslinging behaviour. They shouldn't be "placing" a feral animal full stop. They are not a "pet" , they are a wild animal and a pest at that. There is no legislation in place for the keeping of a Fox, they do not fall under the Companion Animals Act, it's pretty much a free for all, there is nothing in place to ensure they are properly cared for or managed. I'm still shaking my head that some tree hugging hippies think that it's acceptable to "rescue" and rehome a pest.
-
Maybe it's your tone that people are taking exception to? I'll fluff it up a bit for those that are easily offended then.
-
Calling for a ban on keeping a feral pest, is hardly nasty and I'm surprised that it hadn't been made the law a long time ago.
-
Anyone who is interested enough to want to shut these people down should write to the following All National Party Members in NSW The Farmers Federation All Shooters Party Members The DPI Game Council Given the current political climate in NSW, there will be little if any opposition to eradicating a pest.
-
This is not about Ferrets, it's about Foxes. I will be using all available avenues to have these people shut down and i will push to make it illegal to keep a Fox as a pet. I will also be contacting the Game Council in person and seeking assistance from other lobby groups such as the Farmers Federation. I don't think there will be much opposition to making it illegal to keep a fox as a pet or to make it compulsary to euth any Fox caught or found. I'll be making a start on it this week and hopefully if the right people are contacted, it should slide through with little oppositon.
-
See and that annoys me. Why should you care? Nobody is forcing you to own one. Why can't people mind their own business! If it doesn't affect you, leave it be!! Because anyone that encourages people not to euth a pest, should be shot in my opinion. These animals are rehomed without any vet work being carried out. They are not suitable pets and keeping one should not be encouraged. I will be writing to the DPI this week and I will request that they take action to shut these people down. Further to that I will push for the local member and the DPI to make it illegal to release one back into the wild or to keep one as a pet.
-
Yep it does appear to be an ill-conceived idea and one that I will be encouraging the DPI to put a stop to.
