  1. *I do not need a Whippet, I do not need a Whippet!* Pity it's this year, hopefully you will repeat it! :p If it produces what I think it will, it may be a one of  It's going to be a combination of a bitch that you just can't insult and a dog who thinks he's pretty special too. They are both pretty high energy and drive and it's going to be interesting. Puppy buyers should be prepared to invest in a lot of cardboard boxes, dolls, toys and never thaw food on or in the sink
  2. They wont be shy, will they? They might need some serious work , so they don't bugger off to socialise half way around the course LOL It might be something I do once in a lifetime, I have a feeling there shall be chaos
  3. My pet pups are around $950, with the usual wormed, vacc'd, chipped, Dogs NSW registered, raised in the house and very well socialised, crate training and house training commenced. Show potential pups are by private treaty. I'm going to do a mating this year that should produce some very naughty babies for the potential sports enthusiast
  4. Much of it I agree with, however when I advertise ( which is not very often ) I like to advertise things about my puppies/dogs when it comes to where they are raised, if they are toilet trained, lead trained, raised with cats and kids. I do this so that a potential buyer can see immediately if I'm the kind of breeder, with the type of puppy they would potentially like and I don't waste their time and my time.
  5. Surely you lie ? It just doesn't happen
  6. This, keep her covered in a crate or gazebo with walls, don't parade her around the marshalling area and toilet away from others. There is no reason why you shouldn't show.
  7. I only enter shows that offer Ozentries these days and I can't be bothered with those that don't. So if they had it, then yes I'd use it and would travel to Vic to show when it suited me
  8. No thanks, not with Oscars Law and the RSPCA being there to push their agenda
  9. My suggestion is to forget about searching in Vic only and to look at pups from other states. The last time I made a suggestion for a breeder it was Bostonlakes and the new owner has not been disappointed with their dog.
  10. and to think, there's nothing stopping this one from breeding and attempting to raise children of his own.
  11. Can you imagine the day they RSPCA and the like come knocking on your door, armed with a long list of dogs you own and supposedly breed from. They are going to draw the line in the sand and then have a power and the ability to access the Dogs NSW data base. I'm estimating that I may well have to explain away 30 odd dogs, for others I imagine it could be hundreds.
  12. When you are ready get a puppy. Ears are going to be pulled from time to time but honestly if you supervise, there's no need for a puppy to be terrorised. We had puppies from the time my daughter was born and she was very respectful of the dogs and their space, you teach your kids to be kind, just as you teach your puppy not to bite and jump all over the kids.
  13. Cut her food back and diet her for a couple of weeks, work her hard and they should tuck up
  14. I get mine done through work and I'm happy to discuss via PM
  15. He comes to mind every time I see their lasts poster child
  16. Chiro is the first place I take all of my dogs, pups included.
  17. Translation: "Infact, the club [The Maremmano Abruzzese Club (cmpa)], has proposed to the ENCI [italian Kennel Club] and the FCI [international Kennel Federation] that a modification of the standard, in regards to the head, the weight, the thickness of the muzzle and other measurements, be given merit by the technical committee. As seen, the cpma is not blind but it always works for the improvement of the breed. These comments were made in relation to the dog shown, who is just four and a half months old. Dogs are supposed to be bred to the standard and measure up as closely as possible to the defined standard for the breed. The breed standard should not be altered because of flavour or the month/year or dogs have been bred away from it and no longer meet the existing criteria.
  18. Sessy is rather skilled at opening the screen doors and then flinging them as hard as she can and making then bang and bounce back open. She repeats that exercise until she is let back inside.
  19. Its pretty simply really, owners don't find their lost dogs, then they are sitting in someone else's back yard.
  20. I made it into the ring today, kind of by default but it's been the first time in a long time that I've actually thought about what I was going to do and then made it happen. I found myself thinking back through the basics of positioning the lead correctly, walking the straight line in, picking the spot and counting through the stack, it's been a while since I've not handled on auto pilot. Well done Trish
  21. If money isn't the issue, then you might like to try to get them to look at how much work is involved in responsible rehoming and will there be enough homes, with people just like them who love and spoil their dogs. It's not easy to find homes for puppies that will give them all the love and care you expect and will keep them for life
  22. Start with the costs of raising a litter and ask honestly can they afford a $1500 C-section if something goes wrong. If they are remote, how would they get their bitch to the vet in the event that intervention is required ?
  23. I did a search for "kennel", "breeding", "breeding establishment" and "housing" and could not find anything that clearly stated all breeders would have to keep their dogs in kennel blocks and were not to be kept inside at all. The relevant section seemed to be referring to boarding kennels and shelters and commercial breeding establishments. I can't submit a response to this if I can't find any reference to it in the taskforce submission. DogsNSW doesn't seem particularly concerned about the kennels thing. Maybe people should read stuff before they start disseminating information and canvassing for support. Just saying. I did read it, a couple of times infact and the more I read, the more alarming I find it and to be honest if this goes through, I may as well pack it all in . Yes, we may as well all pack it in. If what is being said becomes reality we shall all have no choice but to say bye, bye Dog World. The majority of us do not have the finances to comply nor will many of those just joining the ranks of the dog world. Just think how much you "may" have to pay for a Registered Pure Bred Puppy from an Ethical Registered Breeder. I could probably comply with the kennel requirements but that's not how I want my dogs to live and it's certainly not the way I want to raise my puppies, nor do I want to be told what someone else thinks is best for the dogs that I live with day in and day out, especially when they most likely haven't ever bred a dog.
