  1. We used to use a barrier cream in the Canberra salon. Make sure you apply it before you arrive at work and well before you commence grooming. Look after your hands at every opportunity such as morning tea and lunch. We used an emu oil moisturiser or a paw paw. Treat you hands before going to bed as well. I also found that I picked and choosed which shampoos suited me in the salon. There were a couple that I wouldn't use as they were hard on my hands and I let the owner know of this.
  2. You have chosen very different dogs. Personally I would take the Pharaoh out of the Sighthound equation. The Grey and the Zoi by comparison are very relaxed dogs, they are content for the most part to stay in your yard and hang around as part of the family.
  3. This poor dog has suffered for how long now ? 18 months ? Perhaps it's time to put her to sleep and be kind to an obviously suffering animal.
  4. At 13 years of age, I'd just feed him what he likes and let him enjoy what time he has left. I don't mean take him to Macca's but I'd not be harsh on him when it comes to diet and trying to get him to lose weight.
  5. Try chicken necks and small amount of roo diced or minced. I'd scrap the mixed vegies and go with some mashed pumpkin or sweet potato , give him some tuna or salmon in spring water , the odd scrambled egg. He needs less food and more exercise, whilst maintaining good nutrition
  6. you got it in one. I'm amazed at the double standards, there's all hell to pay for a breeder who dare keep a dog in such conditions but it's all fine and dandy in the name of "rescue"...
  7. If you can't see a scar, then whoever took them off did a great job.
  8. Can't wait to hear the other side of this story. Time for more owners to take on and stand up to the RSPCA I frequently looked after a small dog while it's owners went on holidays. He was left with water, food and me checking on him a couple of times a day. I went down one morning to find him laying in the yard in similar circumstances to the dog mentioned. I took him to the vet and he only lasted a few hours before he died. He'd appeared a bit "down" while his owners were away but his health declined very rapidly. Cancer claimed him too .
  9. you may be looking at litters v dogs named . dogs are not named usually until they are broken in and ready to race.
  10. I sacrifice nothing, it's called "life with dogs" and I love it.
  11. Nope I have a favourite and what Sessy wants Sessy gets. I love my others but not in the same way.
  12. wow what a beautiful combination of dog and bitch. All the best with them
  13. you'd be crucified for doing it now, regardless of the bitch being up to it or not. Of course there's no science, it's pen pushers and animal lib drawing the lines in the sand these days, regardless of them being wrong. But hey, they have to protect the dogs from the puppy farmers some how
  14. depends on the breed and how the bitch has been cared for. Nature determines when they are too old
  15. Pound Rounds anyone ?
  16. Depends, some will for a couple of days, others will go for a week.
  17. I choose mother nature, as that's how matings are supposed to happen. If a dog's not up to the task and bitches are notoriously difficult to mate, then why continue to keep it in your lines.
