  1. Some times love just ain't enough Run free Hazel
  2. I'm going to ask what might seem like a dumb question but have you looked at sources of illness that could be in or around the home. From memory you have not been well and several of the dogs have had problems. Have you looked at things like lead ? chemicals etc. I have no idea where you live or what your house is built on but could it be a source ?
  3. After years and years of losing the battle last year we finally worked out a combination. Two jumbo fly traps RepelX on the dogs Poo patrol as many times a day as I could Hosing or bucketing the kennel areas with bleach ( have to keep dogs off until dry ) and the surprise was that eucalyptus oil and water in a spray bottle , sprayed around the doors and the brickwork actually worked.
  4. A harness on an Amstaff would just enable the dog to pull harder and further reduce the amount of control. The drive in an Amstaff is what makes them some of the best weight pullers in the world, be buggered if I'd put a harness on one. 20 weeks is old enough for formal obedience, skip the puppy pre school a 20 week old Amstaff pup will be too over the top for a bunch of little tackers. Or better still call in a professional trainer now.
  5. I think his carer had a soft spot for him from the first day. Sweet dreams old man Old Staffords don't run free, they just lay around and sun themselves
  6. I wouldn't change anything, with the exception of more whole fish, which is hard to get here.
  7. Thanks for your response................no scrapings were taken. I am going to take her along this week to another vet for a second opinion. Cheers Rule out both mange mites first. It's normally the first thing to do with an itchy dog with hair loss. Keep up the raw too, it can sometimes take a while for the balance to shift in the dogs favour
  8. What does the breeders diet sheet advise you to do ? Give your breeder a call and ask them can they send the diet info to you now, so that you can prepare in advance.
  9. I'm going to ask the obvious.. Did the vet take skin scrapings ?
  10. Normally a lazy gait is a "pace" not a bunny hop. I'd personally be looking at seeing a muscle man / chiro for the pup. I'd do that before I saw any vet, GA'd and xrayed such a young puppy. I would treat the symptoms as two completely seperate issues. Has the vet tested a urine sample ? and what has lead them to think that xrays would be useful in determining the cause of her being incontinent ? A trip to a good chiro will enable you to rule out muscle problems and pinched nerves or it may be the visit that locates the problem.
  11. she does not dribble when excited just little dribbles most often arter she has done a wee. i have contacted the breeder and he says he has 3 other puppies that bunny hop and he also does see some adult dogs hop. Have the parents been hipscored ? Has the breeder treated those who have hopped and have they located the cause ? This would be helpful for you. A good muscle man/chiro are always handy with young developing puppies, apart from contacting the breeder of any of my dogs, I'd be seeing one of those as well.
  12. The first stop should be your breeder. Not only as a courtesy to the breeder but they should be able to put you in touch with a vet who is experienced with the breed.
  13. I'm by no means advocating being slap happy with her first season and suggets like others that you take all precautions to protect her from dogs but you can always abort any puppies during the spey op. I'd let her have the first season if she were mine and then desex as the vet recommends
  14. I'm nearly through 03 then I'll start on 04... i need a holiday
