  1. :p Then there's sending your puppies to their new homes, after raising them with love and care and vaccinating at 8 weeks or older, only to have them taken to the vet for their next puppy shot , who declares they need a C 7 and a proheart slow release injection. Then insist that the pup needs a third vaccination, just to be sure . What do you do ?
  2. I can't really see the point in having anything that is not a "title". Anyone can advertise how many points there dog or bitch is on. The clincher for me would be if it's free of charge or do you have to pay for your "award" . Would be a good money making exercise for the CCCQ wouldn't it, especially if they don;t have to reprint any certificates. The logistics of it would be a nightmare, going through all of the applications for the awards , making sure the points add up and then doing it possibly 5 times in the show career of the dog. I can't see them doing it for free.
  3. To keep it short a responsible owner knows what the dogs needs are and provides for them. This includes the basic food, water, shelter, vet care and also the physical exercise and mental stimulation that the individual dog requires. Responsible owners abide by the law. I think that the word " responsible" cannot be applied to anything beyond what is above ( although I've possible left out some things ) There's "responsible" and then there's the truly dedicated owners, who make their dog the very best it can be. To me being "responsible" is the base level when it comes to ownership and it's what you do beyond that , that really counts.
  4. I have a dog that will develop hot spots if fed lamb. I suspected it for a while and removed all lamb from the diet for a couple of months and then reintroduced it. Basically got a hot spot the next day. They are limited to the neck only and easily treated. Cut a long story short, I fed chicken mince yesterday and the dog has a hot spot coming up today. Could it be a higher level of fat that's in the lamb flaps and the chicken mince that is causing it, rather then the actual lamb itself ? Thoughts ?
  5. I've always shown mine, they are pregnant not disabled. The only time I don't take them out is in the heat. I stop when it's become obvious that they are
  6. I was hoping to show some stunning pics of black and white pied pups, but you'll just have to look at "Brett". He ruined the photoshoot and it's too humid to go back out
  7. Which is preferable, hard boiled or raw egg? So far I've only tried hard boiled, he has fun breaking it up before gobbling it. Never tried raw. I mix mine up, sometimes I do a hard boiled and chuck them a whole egg, they think it's fun to break into as well. Yesterday I did raw egg , mince and left over veg. Today they all had roo tail and the only veg they got was the left over carrot peels from morning tea.
  8. By all means push the oodle agenda but leave me as a pedigree dog breeder/owner/exhibitor, the hell out of it. If they want to turn the oodle mongrels into the ultimate companion go right ahead, it doesn't bother me at all. But this is not what it's about and blind freddy can see that. I await the seminar notes to prove me wrong.
  9. I've been tempted to submitt the DNA of one dog and a pic of another.
  10. Given the results that have been posted on here, I really have my doubts. I'm now convinced they are a complete waste of money
  11. All topics being presented at the seminar are about dogs. The findings being reported apply to dogs. Including pedigree dogs. The seminar's aim is not about promoting crossbred dogs. Hmm let's see, there won't be anything favourable to report about our pedigree dogs will there ? of course the cross bred mongrels will come out of this smelling like roses. My crystal balls smells the stench of PDE fall out, a British report and the pungent odour of the 10 point plan
  12. I feed a combination of roo tails, lamb flaps and necks, chicken wings and carcass. In addition to that they get a can of sardines each a week ( 2 x half cans )or a can of mackeral, a couple of raw eggs a week, a small amount of liver or kidney, some natural yogurt. I don't process any veg and keep it very simple, they get all of the carrot peels each week, any left over cooked veg, some pieces of apple or other fruits. There's no set amount for any dog and no going by body weight. I've simply observed my guys closely and those who are high energy get more. I've kept it simple and the dogs look wonderful on it.
  13. So where are the CC reps ? if the MDBA wasn't high profile enough ?
  14. and another of the speaker offers up a pound dog of unknown origin as a stud prospect.
  15. Just a house that I like tonight. I've not been very good with building thus far, so thought I might try a few for this months challenge
  16. awesome, McGreevy and a puppy farmer on the same night, that's a must for all breeders to attend
  17. Back to dirt eating. A friend of mine has dogs that eat a certain patch of clay. It's not all of the time but they do it.
  18. I just googled it. It doesn't look like any of the mulch that we have and there was plenty of things about it bing a hoax.
  19. what's cocoa mulch ? Mulch made out of cocoa plants. well I sort of gathered that bit is it a common mulch ? and how do you know if that's what your mulch is made of ? and the last question how and why does it cause problems sorry I just haven;t heard of it before
  20. My Whippet runs backwards and forwards touching me with her nose, the only place she wants to go is to bed or to make you sit on the lounge with her . One of my Staffords just screams the place down, until she gets what she wants. It's the same scream for starvation or going to the toilet LOL
