I think it sucks just that bit more, when people come onto a pedigree dog forum to push their cross bred dogs and agenda's
-
It's not limited to just the recent changes in legislation. There are still vets in NSW who are advising people not to chip their puppies until they are 6 months old and to do it at the time of desexing. Mandatory chipping at the point of sale or at 12 weeks ( which ever comes first ) has been a requirement in NSW for many years.

Is Just Under 2 Years Of Age Too Young ..

Providing there are no mandatory tests required before litters can be registered and the bitch is in excellent condition, I see no reason why not. Surely the breeder would have carefully considered the decision to mate her and feels that she has reached adequate maturity. -
What To Look For In A Breeder?

Awesome choice -
Mine certainly doesn't suck nor does she encourage the breeding of dogs and bitches with known problems. We have had many discussions regarding even simple things like mange and withdrawing affected animals from the gene pool, hernias, HD, c-sections and the list goes on. Sadly I've also seen the other side, which is the indiscriminate breeding free for all, with vets leading the charge

The Coolie on the upcoming episodes is gorgeous

you were still talking about your pet shop Amstaff in October last year, as though he was very much alive. I would certainly not be bringing a puppy into my home at 8 weeks if we'd had parvo that recently and if you are being honest with breeders (which I hope you are ) I doubt many if any, would let a puppy go to your home.

Some key phrases to avoid when looking for a puppy * with or without papers * all puppies come on the main register * breeding for extreme muscle mass ( see breed standard ) * our dogs and bitches are huge * show rings stars ( that rarely grace the ring ) * produce awesome bone ( see breed standard ) * massive heads ( see standard ) * our exciting blue litter ( beware of breeding for colour only ) * breeding the bigger, as bigger is better ( again see the standard ) There is a breed standard and it's the blue print of the breed, people breeding to the extreme or for colour have no idea what it is and what breeding for the betterment of the breed is all about.

You might want to do a whole lot more research but you are getting warmer with your second choice. Look for those who exhibit ( with success ) , trial or partake in other sports, they should also be health testing ( hips scores, eye certs and artaxia ). ETA: it may also take a while for a puppy to become available from an ethical registered breeder.

and for those who do nothing but f1 crosses and rob the pedigree gene pool ? -
Doesn't Victoria have mandatory microchipping, prior to the sale or giving away of any puppy ?

It's not chicken, as the majority of her diet is chicken. She hasn't broken out on anything but lamb and remains hot spot free unless I feed her lamb. This is the first one she's had and the only thing that changed was the mince, which I don't normally feed. It was quite fatty and she is always fed a lean meat diet as she puts on weight just looking at food, hence why i asked the question about the possibilty of higher fat content leading to hot spots. I will also try lean lamb and see if I can provoke a reaction from that.

It can be said that one wasn't safe to drink -
Mine has firm hard stools and her coat glows, it's always looks shiney, it's short, smooth and no bare or rough patches in it, no itching , redness etc.. I guess the only way to find out is to do what I did with the lamb.
-
There's always the possibility that she stole a piece of lamb flap off someone else, but I feed seperate, to avoid these things. I treat with the same malaseb solution that I use for cleaning ears and it works fine. I might do what I've done with the lamb and not feed her any chicken mince for a couple of months and then see if I can induce a break out with a feed.

Run a mile and run fast. -
What a horrible decision to have to make. I had to make a similar one with my 21 year old cat.

I feed raw and love the results. I have also raised several on Royal Canin and have been very happy with it

The difference is that a rescue will come wormed, vaccinated , microchipped ( which is the law ) and desexed . Ethical rescues will also do their best to match your puppy to your family and lifestyle and perhaps the most important thing is that they will be there to help you after you take your new dog or puppy home.
-
Sounds like another Golden, from an ethical registered breeder would suit your family If you do decide to take on a puppy from across the road, they should not be leaving home until 8 weeks and should be wormed on a regular basis, have their first puppy vaccination provided and be microchipped. ETA: I do not condone BYBing, my preference is for eberyone to purchase from an ethical registered breeder, who guarantee their pups and offer their full support or choose a dog from an ethical rescue.
